well i went to my local DZ today to see what was going on. Not going there again least friendly place i've ever been to. The Chief instructor looked at my 22 jumps, the last 6 had been trying to sit fly, and told me i wasn't going to be doing that again for some time bah.. no fair. who wants to fly belly to earth... That and it costs a fortune. I've joined the BPA which is about $130, no problem, pricey, but needed. Then to jump at my local i need to join their club, which is another $80. Then each jump with gear hire is $65 arghhhh... that includes a packing fee. A mere $25. You get this back if you pack it before you give it back. Now theres two things here. One, very expensive if you dont pack it, two, people have no incentive to pack it well, they just want the deposit back. Urghhhh... i'm trying another DZ this weekend, see how it goes... I hate skydiving more than anything else. It really does suck. Nothing else i have ever done has come close to taking over my entire life in the same way skydiving has. I'm addicted. Well and truley. I haven't jumped since sebastian which was only 2 weeks ago, but i'm feeling like shit. i really want to be jumping right now i need a skydiving hit. (well not really a hit, if you know what i mean) i know i'm new to the sport, but its really got me in a bad way. I've just caught myself wathcing the video of my aff.. i need help.. before i started AFF i thought i was going to have a real problem with the door, to the extent i told my instructors to just push me if i looked like iwasn't going to make it. I knew i wanted to do it. Anyhew, after 6 or so hours ground school we were hanging around on a weather hold for the first jump. Then the clouds parted, and we were on a call. Got in the plane, got to altitude, stood in the door. No fear. it was like something took over. I dont know what it was, but i just knew this was what i was going to do. Full credit to the instructors for telling me my rig was rigged, not going to open etc... whatever it was, i just got to the door, looked out. "check in, check out, prop up, down... ARCH !!!! " absolutely amazing [:D] There was no fear for the whole jump. Just absolute exhilliration. The weird thing is through all my jumps so far (only 22) i have never at any point thought, i could die. It hasn't even crossed my mind. I'm fully prepared if the worst happens. I made that decision before i took up skydiving. You have to. ... is without a doubt the funniest film i have ever seen. Facts about skydiving i have no learned... -I'm so stupid, i should have known we could have conversations in free fall! -BASE jumpers wear tight jumpers over their rigs and dont need to take it off before deploying -there's no need to track away from other people before deploying -checking gear before you jump it is a waste of time. Whats the worst that could happen? from what i could tell, you'll be fine, especially if you land in 2ft of water. -after only 3 jumps i could safely downsize to a cannopy smaller than a postage stamp. Be able to dock with someone mid air, hold them, land on top of a high rise building amidst numerous ariels and satalite dishes.. -when i jump out of an aircraft and seemingly fall far away from it, i will infact still be able to grab the foot rail and hold on. -i could do a tandem dive from 38,000ft no problem. there was so much more as you all know, but it made me laugh..
