  1. I just left Eloy a week ago and find it hard to believe that Tom will not be there when I return in Jan. I will truly miss seeing him reading and smoking by manifest. Tom was not a man of many words, but you know still waters run deep. R.I.P Amigo
  2. Unless you have money to throw into the wind and you like smashing and repairing things, I would strongly suggest you try a simulator like "Great Planes Real Flight R/C sim". It has all different types of helicopters and planes that you can try out. You'll soon fine it will pay for itself in no time. It also lets you try new tricks before risking it out on the real thing. As they say, Its not if you are going to crash, but when you are going to crash.
  3. Besides the freefly camp Amy and Curtis are putting on, I find the local load organizers set up a lot of fun and challenging dives for all experience levels. If your looking for another freeflyer to jump with during the invasion, I'll be there. (Dave Dave/Vancouver B.C.)
  4. Nights are freezing cold and the bunk house or the team trailers are well worth it. Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. There are curtains on the bunk house and this cuts out the light and gives you some privacy. Bring a jacket for the nights. There are enough people around that you should be able to see who is going where for dinner. There are people always going into Casa Grande so you should have no problem catching a ride. See ya there.
  5. Have owned one Mirage G3 and three Mirage G4's. 1500+ jumps. Never had a riser cover release prematurely or hang up. Even if the riser cover was to release, Mirage has the secondary riser cover over the risers for protection. This has been more than enough riser protection for me. If it ain't broke...
  6. Yes we have one at our DZ. He usually acts up when he has an audience. Take away the audience and he can carry on a decent conversation one on one. People stopped jumping with him and were warning others of his behavior. Pretty soon he figured out that he was not impressing anybody and started to turn over a new leaf. I in all honesty gave up on the guy after a near miss with him. A few people with the patience of a saint have pointed him in the right direction and his behavior and actions are slowly improving. It might not hurt to try and isolate him and see if someone can talk some sense and social skills into this individual. If he acts up, don't even respond (good or bad) he is just looking for a reaction, Just turn your back and walk away. If enough people do this to him, he will get the idea. If he does act appropriately do talk to him. Just as we get this guy turned around, now we have another one to deal with at the DZ.

  12. Pitt Meadows, B.C. Canada Mountain, river, Pacific ocean, view of downtown....etc.
  13. We had a similiar incident up here last week. A friend ended up fracturing vertebre in his neck during a collision on a birdman flock.
  14. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/dropzone/jump.cgi?ID=338 see if someone in her club could tell her. (Mark or Curt)
  15. Relaxing is the key. The harder you try and muscle it the worse it gets. I visualize lying in a hammock letting the air support me. My arms and legs are relatively loose with even air pressure on either sides of my arms. Try to keep your head back as if lying on a pillow. I tend to look up at the centre of the fans. This far from covers all the little details, but I hope it helps you out a little bit.
  16. awesome pics!! love some of your team formation landings.
  17. Protrack & Prodytter in helmet and neptune on the wrist.
  18. LMAO I kinda recall someone having that same body position on their premature headdown deployment.
  19. Had a great time last year and will be there again this year. Loved how you guys stopped traffic so the Otter could take off.
  20. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2417 IMO the softest opening canopy I've flown has been the crossfire2. The video clip is of my old Xfire2 being deployed in a premature headdown dive. Jose walked away without any injury and will also confirm that the X-fire2 let him escape without injury. I believe the neptune showed approx. 170mph at deployment. (yes it was a fast headdown dive).
  21. Was videoing a paraplegic tandem passenger when at 6,000 an exhaust valve let go and ended up dancing on top of a piston before breaking through and ending up in the crank case. Manage to get the passengers legs out of the door so the tandem master could exit. Last words from the passenger before we got out were, "what, we are not going to ten grand????" Kodos to the pilot for getting the smoking plane back down in one piece.
  22. The tab on my soft link is hidden in the riser thus preventing a line snagging it and causing a problem. I noticed that when attaching the bridle with a soft link, there is no place to hide the soft link tab. Would this be a potential snag point?
  23. I'm in. Can't wait to wingsuit it with you guys.
  24. Hey Jaap I figure we need to fire up those big search light at the end of the hangers so we can set up a night salmon coarse for the birdmen .
  25. Pacific Skydivers Vancouver BC Canada Mountains, river, valley, city and ocean all in one skydive.
