  1. I hope this continues for you. How are your landings?
  2. I think Art is a better judge of his abilities than anyone in the FAA. No bureaucrat ever got fired for saying "no".
  3. Gotta say they look like they're dressed for "work" and getting a little too aggressive in their hustle. And the guy did the right thing, trying to back out of there and being smart about not fighting back.
  4. You know you're in trouble when you can see all the people on the ground looking up at you. And you're really, REALLY in trouble when all the people that owe you money start smiling.
  5. That's the way to do it. I married a jumper too.
  6. There's a lot you can do still with bigger canopies. You know what's really boring? Sitting on the ground with casts and crutches.
  7. Super good advice, C. My wife makes belly suits and has all kinds of tricks for slowing down the fast guys, from material choices, cuts, and even ram-inflated jumpsuit arms. Get the right suit and everything will fall into place. And if you can drop a few pounds, the sport will get much easier.
  8. Absolutely. Dive loops on the front risers are standard equipment on many rigs and are easily added to the main parachute risers. Shouldn't be a problem for any rigger.
  9. Sounds like you should do hop & pops all day. Do you hate free beer too?
  10. Happy Birthday, Lou. Have a great one.
  11. A couple of 'em actually landed at the DZ too I actually learned to spot jumping Double L rounds. You learn in a hurry to get it dialed in.
  12. Make sure there are no skydiving exclusions.
  13. Well, you missed a helluva Porterhouse at our place tonight, cooked rare. I like rib-eye, but I don't exclude the other cuts.
  14. It works 'cause ya love each other.
  15. Good question. They DO look pretty wonky when they are like that. Hopefully someone would notice. It's part of my checks of 3s that I do multiple times before each jump, heck, before getting on the plane.
  16. Do you have dive loops on the back of your front risers? That makes front riser inputs much easier. For safety, make sure you hold onto your steering toggles with all 4 fingers thru the loops, and use only your index and middle finger thru the dive loops. This way you'll always be able to release the dive loops without accidentally letting go of the toggles. This kind of accident is very dangerous close to the ground. I fly much of my pattern making front riser diving turns instead of toggle turns. It often enables me to get down below and ahead of slower traffic without making larger, more dangerous turns. I usually make my 90 degree to final turn using a front riser to build up speed for my "old man" swoop. (I'm def. not a 180 or 270 swooper).
  17. Never give in to "It's skydiving or me!" You'll live to regret it. Are you married or just "in a relationship"?
  18. One of the most amazing visuals ever. Looks like the stuff I dreamed of when I was a kid.
  19. Funny how brutally honest gets confused with "angry".
  20. You're both grownups and you're both done "playing games." I think you'll be quite happy together. Wishing you all the best.
  21. I've got a 2 pound porterhouse waiting to go on the grill tomorrow.
  22. "What constitutes knowing someone? How long you've known them or what happened during that time?" --Hugh Hefner For my wife and me, it was 9 months from meeting to married, 31+ years ago. Many other marriages have lasted even longer with much shorter courtships. It's all in the attitude of the couple. If you both want it to work, it will work.
  23. Some pretty wicked $hit there. Some take aways? Learn to track better at breakoff. Most people don't track as well as they could. Beginning freeflyers? It's very common to backslide when you're learning to sit/head down. Face perpendicular to the jump run line so that you're not sliding up or down the line and getting in someone else's airspace. Pinchecks and protecting your pin, esp. on climbout, are really good habits to build. I'm almost OCD about checking my handles and buckles prior to exit. When cutting away it's preferable to be belly-to-earth as your reserve deploys off your back, right? So put your feet on your butt and ARCH as you cutaway. Don't be the guys with the feet out in front of them, falling away on their backs, watching the reserve go past their shoes. And BTW, I hang onto my handles when I chop. There's usually no reason not to. Thanks for the great instructional video. I might use some of that stuff for Safety Day.
