  1. Yes, they congregate there, and are attracted to the scuba bubbles. They swam around and around us the entire time we were in the water. Also saw a bunch of sharks, but sharks are a dime a dozen Wow. I'm gonna bookmark that place.
  2. Your review of the movie is spot on with my impressions. It's watchable, but the characters didn't capture my imagination, much of the action is too CGI (My wife and I even had the same "go to YouTube" comment about the prox. flying). The hipster preachiness dragged the story down. I missed the simple, greed inspired bad guys of the original. Maybe it has to do with my age bracket. Any of you younger jumpers like the new characters/motivations better? In their overarching attempt to outdo the original, they took it to the point of unbelievable, IMHO.
  3. ***Or our landslide a few years back. Loggers paying no mind to regulations. . .
  4. Does she get a lot of balls bounced off her face? We had great Christmas too. With the empty nest thing going, we planned doing the Jewish Christmas, Chinese food and a movie. But all the Chinese restaurants in town were closed. We ended up doing Jack-in-the-Box and a movie. Funny thing, there were quite a few couples at JITB. Merry Christmas, y'all.
  5. Those are amazing. I've only seen them at night in Hawaii. Is the manta watching pretty reliable there?
  6. Very nice level 3. You did great. My only comment is that I feel the instructors should avoid keeping a grip on your arm when the student is flying so well. It inhibits learning. :)
  7. Check your policy for exclusions on certain activities, such as flying on non-scheduled or non-commercial flights. My former govt. life insurance and my current commercial life insurance have no such exclusions, but I made sure to check.
  8. Make sure your life insurance pays off if you bounce skydiving. Some policies do, some don't. Try to be safe-ish in your equipment choices. No double-digit canopies. Use an AAD, use an RSL. Remember that those kids will grow up and move on some day. Make sure you have a life of your own. My wife and I both jumped while raising 4 kids. They all turned out fine.
  9. Thanks for sharing that story. We would all be lucky to be remembered as that kind of human being.
  10. I got to make a few jumps with him back in the early 80's in Utah. He was always doing the paraski competitions for a while. Helluva accomplished guy. He had a great story about having to eject from his F-4 due to an avionics fire spreading into the cockpit. He seemed to be pretty good at using that story to get a lot of neck rubs from attractive women.
  11. Summer swoopin', happened so fa-ast.. . I think you may be on to a good parody song.
  12. How many jumps do you have? I ask because there are different skills to be reviewed, depending on your experience level. Emergency procedures need to be fresh. After 40 years, mine are in my DNA, but if you're new-ish, practice, practice, practice. Depending on your physique, weight training or weight loss might be beneficial. Wind tunnels are great if you can get to one. Visualization will also help you keep it all fresh in your head. Hey, who doesn't day-dream about skydiving when we're stuck on the ground. Lots of great educational videos out there for any phase of the sport. Great way to keep learning when the weather's bad.
  13. Damn, that's uncanny. I love Jaime Pressly, so I guess I like the other one too.
  14. Not to bad of cloud cover. Just a thin scattered layer. I think this is in England, and their regulations are different from ours.
  15. Nice work. I think you need a little more "legs out" before you do your level 3. :)
  16. Hey, it's hard to stay awake on those long graveyard shifts. Sometimes a guy needs a little help.

    This is fun

Did you even take the test? Yeah, I didn't even think that was an answer. I got moderately nefarious. Pretty middle-of-the-road on that test.
  18. So you'll be in the States first week of April?
  19. Home for the holidays and I can't seem to get a break on the weather each weekend, but Seattle's like that. Might be in Eloy in January. Definitely North Shore Hawaii for Feb. and March.

    Pumpkin pie

I did the lazy thing this year. Pumpkin on the porch for decoration but didn't carve it. We did quarter it next week and Valinda processed it all into cooked pumpkin puree, stored in the freezer. She also made a couple of pies and some pumpkin soup. And the toasted seeds were delicious.
  21. If jumpers deconstruct how they ACTUALLY do things, then teach that way to students, the "extended arm up" would be taught universally. At my DZ, I see a lot of variance. The one I hate the most is "hand in front of your face so you can see your altimeter when you pull." Does any experienced jumper in the world do that?
  22. Video AND stills. Then you can charge more.
  23. What a terrible way to go, as gator food. We saw one last Spring when hiking in the Everglades. 12, 13'? I didn't go up to it with a tape measure to make sure. When you realize those big bastards can outrun you it makes you really, really want to keep your distance. A high powered rifle would be nice too.
