  1. I can totally believe that. Racist bigot, I hear, too.
  2. Perfect advice. Esp. the visualization of "perfect".
  3. Hell, I remember you being famous when I will still trippin' over my static line. Yeah, we did what we had to do. That whole transition era in gear had a lot of hard lessons, didn't it?
  4. Yeah, I was a straight up radar guy, so ramp control would be a big bag of new tricks for me. Like you said, the Eagle makes a low pass on my bank account each month, so I've got a lot of options. So far, hucking drogues on Oahu for a month or two at a time has been a helluva fun "retirement."
  5. Remember some of the old pig rigs that the reserve would total? Good time for the last hope rope. Noobs, pm me for a translation.
  6. I'm with you. I wished I could have worked another year-ish as a controller. Really loved that job.
  7. Yeah, there hasn't been a mandatory age yet. Just curious what others thought. Funny, the FAA makes airline pilots go at 65, but I've heard that an FAA pilot can continue into his 70's, no mandatory retirement age.
  8. As an air traffic controller, I was required to retire at age 56. Airline pilots used to be age 60. The snafu with their retirement funds made the FAA bump that up to age 65. Here I am, 58 years old, still going strong (I feel) but I know some day I'll have to quit doing tandems. Does anyone have any opinions on what age should be the cutoff for being a TM?
  9. Yep, if you don't log 'em, you don't really know how many you made. I've known too many people who numbers they claim don't match what I've seen.
  10. PLF. And learn to fly your canopy well. Do you really only have 2 jumps? Do you have bad knees? What do your instructors tell you? I've seen many women leave the sport due to worrying about their landings. Men seem to be more accepting of rough landings and a little bruising. Maybe it's our general background in contact sports and rough lifestyles.
  11. Sure would end on a high note.
  12. I wonder what the shelf life is on those. Are they like those marshmallow peeps?
  13. Thanks for all the answers, everyone. I guess there is a difference.
  14. Really? Then my old Cypres should still be good, because I don't remember the 12 year life being advertised when I bought it.
  15. All the answers above seem acceptable to me.
  16. Lots of good comments and suggestions here. I still jump an Alti3 with a back-of-hand mount. Works pretty well.
  17. Quite the chart. Sucks to see suicide so high. . .
  18. It sure looked photo shopped. Although many years ago there was a dad who built a small harness sack for his daughter and took her on a few jumps. That quietly faded away. Jumping when pregnant? I know that subject has been discussed to death, with very strong opinions on both sides. Vskydiver's OB told her "Do what you normally do. And I don't want to hear about it." 4 healthy kids, all with bunches of prenatal jumps.
  19. We really need another president like Teddy Roosevelt, someone who carries a big stick and loves to bust up toxic trusts.
  20. See N@, every cloud has its silver lining. . . And sorry to hear it didn't work out. Glad you found out early, though.
