  1. After waiting two years past graduation, our son finally got picked up by the FAA to be an air traffic controller, something he's wanted to do since he was a little kid. We're pretty happy for him.
  2. You are truly in the right and they are truly in the wrong. You've held your head high and honestly through this whole thing. I can't wait for the slow turning wheels of justice to finally deliver a good judgement to you. I know it's coming.
  3. Now if he comes back you'll know he liked it.
  4. There's the problem. They're not connecting the dots like most people do.
  5. Damn, we could be gods in that country! Reminds me of the old cold war joke of the US manufacturing condoms to ship to the USSR. The Russian specs were 10 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. The US manufactured the entire shipment and marked all the packages "medium". Hey, it's not the meat, it's the motion, right?
  6. That's an institution I wouldn't mind be locked up in.
  7. When it comes to women's clothing, less is definitely more. Don't be shocked. You know how we are. But it's coldddd out tonight!! 62F!! That's a lot of "D's" in that. And we all know what happens when it's cold.
  8. Best fad ever. I don't think they'll ever go out of style.

  10. I've got 3 round reserve rides (all terminal), one was front mount, and about 8-9 square reserve rides, 3 at terminal. The front mount round knocked me into next week ( I actually DID think I hit the ground), but all the piggy back reserve rides were okay, just a little brisk. YMMV. I know you've had your share too.

  12. Most of us skydivers guys manage to do that somehow. I've noticed a pattern.
  13. Unless you're a Drop Kick Murphys fan, then you know a bunch of them.
  14. Some of those look so wrong! Are you sure they're okay?
  15. When I taught my son's AFF class this summer, there were 4 other tunnel employees in the class. I didn't spend very much time teaching arching. I know of one very adept young man who grew up on the DZ as a third generation skydiver. At 16 he started jumping, static line method. He was diving late and docking on 10+ ways before he had 20 jumps. And he was doing it very well. A lot depends on the person. With that said, the maddest air skilz in the world won't save you from a bag lock if you don't know your EP's. Every student needs their attitude in the right place. Some need to have it adjusted for them. But most people's problems in AFF come from poor air skills. No one's been flunking their level III repeatedly because of poor canopy control, at least not that I've heard. That's why I say tunnel time is such an advantage.
  16. Although I agreed with many of your reasons, this one is the weakest. You don't need a lot of tunnel time to have a false sense of security under canopy. I feel it's an attitude thing, not a tunnel thing. My son has been very conservative under canopy.
  17. When you get a jumpsuit, the choice of materials will make a big difference. Pack cloth, a heavy weave nylon, is one of the slickest materials and very durable. Avoid cotton/poly. Get spandex sleeves instead of baggier supplex. A good suit maker can help you out. Any chance you're in West. WA?
  18. Really? What teams do that? I agree that the tunnel doesn't teach canopy skills, but that can be learned by normal means. Some people just don't do a good job of learning. Others have the right of way but get killed anyway.
  19. It's dangerous to be on either far end of the ability distribution curve. Too low, you're incompetent and dangerous. Too high, and you're complacently dangerous. Average ain't always bad. My definition of a good skydiver? Someone who is consistent in their jumping. No big thrills or close calls, just smooth skydives, one after another. Makes me laugh to think of a coworker's comment when I spoke of what a good skydiver one of my friends was. He said "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?"
  20. Nope, back in Utah. Young, single, one track mind.
  21. Used to have a jumpsuit with a clear pocket on the left shoulder. It was the perfect spot for a torn out Playboy pic.
  22. You got it. We miss ya, turtle. Wish things were better for you.
