My union got me a very large raise, thank you. My dues are a very small percentage of that. Unions and management have had to learn to cooperate from time to time, but life is a never ending battle between capital and labor. Unions used to be much stronger in our country and jobs paid better. Things have gone downhill the past 3 decades or so for the average working person. Do you like your 5 day work weeks, your paid vacation and other benefits. Thank the labor unions for making those things standard.

The DZ is making money on the slots and the gear rental. Pay varies so your math is a touch off. Many DZ's are making pretty good $$ on student programs.

Nice play on words. "If you got the money, you weigh two-twenty." Hi John Boy Next time try quoting what I said, rather than replying to a cut, copy, delete and paste to serve your own agenda. I'm sure you know that there's more than a tandem "students" weight thats involved in a physical test, Agility, age, ability to follow instructions. etc etc. Some of the responsible GMDZ's will clean up there act but some only have one criteria $$$$. Thats what the waiver is for. Okay Krip, just how did I pervert your post to fill some agenda.? I thoght your previous comments were pretty witty and I agreed with them Not sure what you're after with this post . . . now. . . .

Parents With Young Children

That's the same estimate I use. I've got close to 40 years in, hope to make it another 15-20 years. I told one of my coworkers there was only like a 5% chance I'd get killed skydiving. He thought I was crazy to consider that okay. Maybe he was right. -
All this reminds me of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koAyLPUftHo

Just 'cause it won't be the Raiders.

Bingo! We have a winner.

Hey, wanna try and convince me not to eat meat?

Rex Kramer: Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. I use that line every time I have to talk someone down.
-
Yep, I saw that too. Jeez, that guy just barely made it out of the way. I hope this video gets widely viewed by people working around helicopters.

Naw, now there are those groups that go around breaking into labs and freeing lab animals. That's criminal activity. But running various campaigns to sway people to your point of view? That's democracy in action. I'm gonna always eat meat, but any gorgeous actress who wants to get naked in an attempt to change my mind has my blessing.

I tried that once. It didn't work. . . I've talked my way out of about half my tickets. A little politeness and contrition go a long way.

Oh heck yeah, that was an easy one for me. Classic. BTW, finally sat down and watched the movie the other night. Noirest of the noir comedies I've seen in a while. Luckily I don't feel the violence was glamorized. It was social commentary with an extreme punchline. I'm still digesting it a bit.

Good to hear. Skydiving has been a big positive in my life too. I would be so bored and often so unmotivated without it. Make sure that the problems that chased you into our sport get the attention they deserve. Looks like you had some serious stuff going on that needs to be resolved. We're here for you, okay.

Hanging out in the Holding Area.

What Pops said, what Namowal said. Play with your parachute, but watch where you're going. Check for traffic before you turn, and try to get above or below the other canopies so you're not all landing at the same time. -
In their ignorance, the governments of those warring countries took almost perverse pride in the growing casualty lists, as if that was a measure of their commitment to the war. There is hope. Before WWII, Western Europe was breaking out into war after war. Now it is one of the most peaceful and prosperous places on Earth. Maybe we CAN change our nature, and the responses of our governments.

Yep, the motorcycle chase was good, the train thing has been done to death. . . I wondered why the cab of the back hoe seemed bullet proof. In real life Bond would have been shredded. Yeah, that was kind of weird. What, was a little fondling supposed to scare James Bond? And his reply was a little gay (sorry). I mean, I know he's British and all, but . . . Okay, did I offend enough of my friends in that last post?

3 Minute Video worth watching
JohnMitchell replied to BrianSGermain's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Pretty good pep talk. I wish we could have seen the first part of the speech, though. -
Oops, I did it again . . .
-
Well . . . those people who say that? They really ARE morons. Of course, skydiving has gotta be safer than that stunt or I'd be dead by now.
-
Vskydiver and I saw it yesterday. It was one of the greyest Bond movies ever, yes. Super cool explosions, especially 15 minutes from the end. I won't say more on that. It was worth the ticket price, I guess. But yes, it needed some sky jumping in it. Paging BJ Worth.

Women Face Their Fears By Skydiving in Their Underwear
