I've seen a bad example or two. Do you really have 138 jumps over 10 years? I wonder how much you've seen of anything. I think there's a growing realization that canopy skills must be learned properly, regardless of what level you can freefly at.

Why?? French maid fantasies?? If I had one of those house keepers coming by, I'd spend all my time throwing stuff on the floor so they'd have to bend over to pick it up. But that's just me.

I taught my kids to keep their hands on top of the steering wheel in plain sight and be very polite to the officer.

One of the best things you can do as a parent is to discuss, honestly, the uncomfortable things in life. In return, I was amazed at what the kids would share with us. I'm sure they have their secrets, but I think we equipped them to make smart choices. So far, so good.

We watched the awards on Tivo and just fast forwarded thru that hot mess. Jeez, man, we had kids in the room. A big shout out to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for both awards. Vskydiver, my daughter and I were proud to help them make the "Can't Stop Us" video (the parachute scenes at the top of the Space Needle in Seattle.) >

Actually I don't much, just listen to the news on NPR. Sad fact is that there is a midair collision, on the average, about twice a month nationwide. Almost always VFR aircraft not receiving ATC services. . . I was serious when I said my goal was to finish my career without one of those little "Vee's" on the scope taking out one of my airplanes. Had a few hairy moments from time to time.

It was a great year, and we did raise a lot of money for lupus research, with a few more events to go (think Stearman Biplane jumps ). The best part was the weather cooperated enough for us to get in some great skydives, complete the 4 way scrambles and get some LFL donors up on tandem jumps. Dinner and the party afterwards were great. To all of you who didn't win, I can sympathize. I'm still waiting to hear I won the Arizona Airspeed raffle. Thanks again, John
