**hahaha....lastnight on HBO I was watching oil wrestling, it was a trip, thinking for my next house party to include this in the list of activities.** i'll take all of you on at one time! i ain't skered! no scratching, no kicking in the balls (this would be unfair, beings as the favor cannot be returned) and no ZIP TIES, this is a competition, not a no holds barred "let's kick his ass anyway we know how" thing! [[drawing line in sand]] bring it on! Richard "Only The Good Die Young"

Skykat: she is definitely harmless, but having said that, she's female (ducking behind computer desk) and this means if you piss her off LOOK OUT! i haven't made her mad yet, but ya never know! of course it is not my objective to make her mad either, she's always had a good sense of humor, and always smiling. the last time i saw her we were at SDSL in rosharon, she did an intentional downplane with some guy, they broke it off low, then a certain divemaster (who shall remain nameless) saw what went on, and immediately stormed off to that particular area, the veins in his neck were clearly visible, and his face was REALLY red, i took this opportunity to leave, i had 170 mile drive anyway! can't wait to see her again! peace, i'm out! with a SOS this wouldn't be a discussion, but then of course, i've only seen 1 or 2 SOS systems, and personally wouldn't improvise one, but that's just me. my procedure is one hand for each handle, UNLESS i have a "hard cutaway" then, you've burned up valuable altitude, so i guess it's a trade off. a lot of folks think just because you have "hard housings" on your rig, a "hard cutaway" is next to impossible, think again, remember "murphy's law" it is ever present. i've got an MPEG where one jumper stayed with a spinner, for what i counted to be 9 seconds, then another 7 or 8 seconds before being under a reserve (no RSL) assess the situation Quickly! improvise emergency procedures, try once, try twice, then cha-chink! Chopping from a mal with your wingsuit on
rgoper replied to SkymonkeyONE's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Chuck: that's decent of you to relate your experience with your birdman suit, and your mal. it says a lot while we are all trying harder to be "safer" sky divers, that you would tell your story. i know a few who would have kept "the details" to themselfs. but it's kewel you have the rocks to relay your experience, so everyone else who flys this kind of suit, will know what to do. don't ya just hate that? glad everything turned out o.k. Richard

what, what's this? sounds like a "new years resolution" being made 4 months late! :) J/K Richard

i certainly wasn't inferring that the manufacturer would accept any liabilities, i was simply stating "some" manufacturers will void any warranty of repair/upgrade if you have had someone else alter it other than themselfs. my J-4 still needs to be shipped back to get the new type leg strap buckles, the stainless slip like a big dog. i'm gonna wait, and just have B-12's put on it. that's all i was trying to say........ Richard

Dave: you'd be surprised at how much of this doesn't get caught. i see open riser covers constantly, reserve flaps open, bent, you name it. my personal rule: don't EVER jump borrowed gear from ANYONE, unless you know the history of the rig. jumping borrowed gear has injured, and in a couple of instances killed jumpers, i won't mention names, it's too painful. i'm NOT saying make this your motto, but it's my .02 USD. Richard "Flying The Friendly Skies"

Zennie: they turn them around in a week, you'll be rigless 7 days tops, if you plan it right. but i'm sure mr. booth can handle it, i just didn't want to see you get your warranty voided. Richard
-
Bill: i like to think i'm a safe sky diver, i adhere to all of the safty rules, try as best i can to not downsize my canopy without the consultation of an expert who has personally witnessed my landings. i'm very careful about who i jump with, when i do, because of safety reasons. i'm signed up for the coaches course, and plan to obtain my BIC, and AFF levels as well. so hopefully i can teach others our beloved sport, and hand down the same wisdom i've accrued over my brief skydiving career. it's guys like you though, that "keep us grounded" in our awareness of the safety aspect of our sport, and that's what it's going to take, for the duration. thanks for your article. all it would costs is an e-mail! Richard
-
wouldn't matter, if it's less than a year old. e-mail the manufacturer and ask for details, they will tell you what they will/won't do. in most cases like with sunpath, they'll do it, they send you a ups sticker, they get it fix it, ship it back. Richard
-
Zenmeister: wouldn't you want to send that back to the manufacturer? or is it over a year old, if not they will pay for shipping, etc, just a thought. Richard

Lisa: good goings! glad to see your work in progress. HH, if you wouldn't mind, can i downlaod the zipfile as well. i am in the process of building my own website as well. Cyber is actually building it, he's forgot more than i'll learn in the next 5 years! weather here is crappy, no diving today. Richard rigdog.com it's coming, and it's coming soon!
-
HH: i just went there, i had about 10 subwindows come up trying to sell me stuff, and give me prizes, maybe he's got something there? J/K you've been highjacked, but i'm sure you'll put a stop to his horse hockey. Richard

..........I've never met a helmet i liked, not even remotely, i wear prescription lenses/glasses and this has always caused a conflict in a full faced RW helmet, i've never found a helmet that would allow me to wear my glasses, until now! Bonehead has finally batted a 100! The new Havok is comfortable, easy to put on, and take off, and i can wear any of my prescription glasses with it! It has 2 audible ports with elastic straps (the pro-trac ain't going no where) with velcro straps over the top of the elastic straps, for extra security. It has adequate ventalation, and perifial vision is not obscured. My rating on this one on a 1-10 is a 10 1/2! Thanks Square 1, and Bonehead. As a side bar, i can't see a problem freeflying with it at all, although i haven't had it in the air, i will write report after this weekend. Blue Skies, Hot Days: Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"
