  1. just a "fun jumper" here, i'm not organizing anything, i'll let todd handle tall of that! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  2. I'm Already Pre-registered. I recieved an e-mail this evening about high altitude jumps from 20,000K in the casa! i'm sooo there! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  3. Sandi: 1) have someone film your landings, make sure your mechanics are right 2) have someonne else "test jump" your rig 3) you'll probably have to shorten your brake lines by at least 2" or so. good luck. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  4. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  5. ummmmmmmm, you may be right, but i wanted to make sure everyone understood what the FAR says about it HERE in the USA, since several other countries were mentioned as well. ummmmmmmm o.k.? ummmmm thank you. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  6. according to the FARS, if it's a USPA dropzone (or not) you cannot jump through the cloud layers, only the pilot in command, and the sky diver(s) can be fined, and/or have their ratings yanked/suspended. personally, i won't do it, although i've been seen jumping through industrial haze once or twice. FAR # 105.17 Flight Visibility And Clearance From Cloud Requirements: no person may conduct a parachute operation, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow a parachute operation to be conducted from that aircraft. a) into a cloud, or b) when the flight visibility or the distance from any cloud is less than prescribed in the following table: 1) 1,200' or less the surface regardless of the MSL altitude....500' below...1,000 feet above...2,000' horizontal 2) more than 1,200' feet above the surface but less than 10,000 feet MSL...500' below...1,000 feet above...2,000 feet horizontal 3) more than 1,200 feet above the surface and at/or above 10,000 feet MSL....1,000 feet below...1,000 feet above....1 mile horizontal there you have it. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  7. Zen: easiest question i've been asked all year. i wouldn't do it. the thought crosses my mind now and then, but i'm happily, and managamously married, for almost 17 years, and i have a grandson....nah...i'll pass!
  8. Jumbo: if it's your dream to fly, then live your dream. i used to weigh 425# you've got it way easier than i did. we have the equipment now to handle your weight, take on the challenge. best of luck, take care, be safe! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  9. if money isn't a big part of it, then i'm sure you won't be asking for half of it when you part trails? like it or not, i'm right, now admit it! J/K...don't get mad!
  10. you shouldn't refer to "industrial haze" as clouds, or admit to having fallen through them. but if you decide to do that, and you are in a group, stay that way (altitude permitting) until break-off. but NEVER jump through clouds, the pilot, and the sky diver can be fined, if busted.... --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  11. i didn't even read the replies to this question, but i know the answer, one word: MONEY! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  12. Levin: thanks for posting! c ya! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

does a swimming pool, or a lake qualify? i refer to it as aquatic sports. i'm also a member of the "mile high club" it's o.k. if you can deal with the stares, personally, i don't have a problem with them, i'd rather see those kind of stares, than the kind you get for cutting the cheese on the jumpship! which i've yet to do, but i know of others who in my belief, "save it up" just for that...YES...we know who you are!

  17. um dave: it's official...your bored! i downloaded all 1.8 meg of that, it was trippy, almost surreal. it was kewel in it'z own way though. c ya soon. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

  19. i will have some next weekend, my wife took some yesterday, but she's afraid to get on the landing area, and it's a digital camera so the images are miniscule. bear with me. take care... --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  20. Kris: excellent post. this is probably one of the most overlooked items on a container, all brands. complancency can kill. take care, be safe. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  21. hey fellow divers: i flew my new Cobalt for the first time yesterday, and i thought i'd post the results. first jump: hop-n-pop from 5K nice opening, end cell closure on left side, tried to clear with rear risers, had to get into deep flare, no problem. the canopy is responsive, light front riser pressure, and immediate response! turns and sashays are really quick, canopy reacts quickly, and precisely to toggle input, nice 50-60 foot surfs, good flaring power. second jump: from altitude, did a solo belly-to-earth, deployed at 2500K SSS at around 1850, again end cell closure left side, cleared with deep flare, double stage opening is butter soft! turns and sashays are great, again coming in for final, 60-70 foot surf (got chewed out for this one, came in too hot cross wind..oh well) third jump: same dive, deployed at 3000K SSS at 2400, again end cell closure on left side only, cleared with deep flare, tried my best to "bowtie" the canopy, nothing doing. excellent turns, great response from toggle input, soft, on heading double stage opening. 70-80 foot surf, great front riser reaction, it's scary fast responsive! all in all, this is a great canopy, it's a Cobalt 170, x-braced nose. i'm loading it at 1.5 which is no stretch for the canopy. i would reccomend anyone who is looking for a "advanced canopy" to look into this line of mains. the service was good, and the canopy is awesome. i love the custom colors, and the red "double diamonds" are hard to beat! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  22. ...Atair, and Dan of Cobalt, also Phil Chappel, D.Z.O. of Sky Dive San Marcos (Fentress Air Park) for helping me obtain a really kewel canopy! the assistance and service i recieved from SDSM and Atair/Cobalt/Dan can't be beat!
  23. Rhino: been out of town? your getting here a little late, aren't you? would you kindly expound on your theory of whomever done it must know someone's password? seems like a wild theory to me, i'm keen on hearing about it. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  24. that's funny! **picante commercial: "get the rope" ** hillbilly justice is the hardest thing to fend off! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
