in the U.S.P.A. coach's course the "pull signal" is to stick out your tongue. i think this is an assinine gesture. the pull signal (forefinger pointed dead square at your face, in plain view) was made "crystal" to me through my AFP jump period, in which hook was one of my jumpmasters. but ultimately, the "pull signal" should be...if all else fails, if the student sees the jumpmaster pull, it's time to do the same, no if's ands or buts. ultimately, adamantly instilling in the new jumper to be aware of their altitude (and deployment altitude) should alleviate 98% of this problem. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

we do know this. "we are concieved in sin, and by nature, we are sinful and unclean" thus the reason god sent his only son, jesus christ to die on calvary, for the sins of all men and women. we could litigate forever on religion, a lot of it is right, and a lot of it is wrong, and still more can and has been taken out of context, and still more has been lost in translation. bottom line: to be a christian, is to be "christlike" in nature, and action. well, we all know we screw up every day, no doubt about it. my philosophy is "try, with all your might to befriend your fellow man, to help when, and if you can, lead by example (which isn't easy, and almost ultimately unattainable) and love your fellow man as you love yourself. these are pretty basic "rules to live by" without having to resort to religion to "ascertain" who is wrong, and who is right, because humans and christians alike should not litigate christianity as it is an infinite subject, and often times more than not makes enemies out of friends. god gave each of us a "free will" to think for ourselves, thus each of us can, and do derive our own theorys about religion and life, it is also everyone's right to believe whatever they want to, and choose a lifestyle that some of us may not agree with, but it is their right. be assured that if you "do unto others" it will be done unto you, pretty much the ying/yang theory, good balances out evil. take care...be safe... --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

quite a statement. would this also include astranouts, miners, race car drivers, etc...i believe if you do not pull on purpose, intentionally comitting suicide, then that's wrong, but judgement is final at god's command. pulling is utilizing the good sense god gave you to keep from dying. actually the bible says (in jesus's words) "no one comes to the father, except through the son" so acceptance of jesus christ in your heart as your personal lord and saviour is what jesus's request is, it is an invitation to eternal salvation. while i feel you are a "brother" in christ, this statement is judgemental, and harsh. but nonetheless, your opinion. why not offer an opportunity to surrender and be submissive than to say "reject christianity?" the bible is also "crystal" in this area as well: "it would be easier for a camel to pass throught the eye of a needle, than for a rich man depending on his good works to get him into the gates of heaven" again, harsh, and judgemental. IMHO. many more souls could be won for the kingdom through kindness, than being judgemental or offensive. god also says "ask, and it shall be given" so being "saved" or "born again" is just a request away, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. so many have a hard heart because of the "get on your knees, or be damned and go to hell" mentality/attitude of the old "hard liners" as a christian, i know that i'll never be perfect, and i accept the fact that i am by nature sinful and unclean, and i am "chief of sinners" as well, so i am no better than anyone else, nor will i ever be. but i do know compassion, kindness and love will get through way before the "get on your knees" thing. take care everybody. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

i'm in complete agreement with this statement. i'm missouri-synod lutheran, (the lutheran faith is a "spin-off" of catholocism, after Martin Luther posted his manefesto on the monestary doors) there's also american-synod lutherans, the differences are fairly basic, but the american-synod believes a little more of the catholocism than we do as missouri-synod lutheran's do. we believe in the triune god-god the father-god the son, and god the holy spirit, three in one. a lot of people can't comprehend how such a powerful loving entity can "let so much bad stuff happen" the bad things that happen are not of god's doings. god gave all men a free will, and a competant mind, to think with, and do as they choose. now, this brings us to the "end of the day" sort of thing. whose right, and who's wrong? i don't have that answer, and i don't believe anyone here has a definitive answer either. god is beyond human comprehension, that's the reason we must have "faith" the same "faith" we have in our parachutes so to speak, they work, not because we know they will everytime, but we have "faith" in our equipment, so should we have "faith" in whatever your personal beliefs are. i believe what i believe, because i was raised that way, and the bible tells me so, so i have faith. having said that, when it comes to differences in faiths, sexual preferences, etc...i believe in "live, and let live" i believe you CANNOT cram a different religion/personal belief, or lifestyle down someone else's throat, because i also believe that everyone has the right to believe as they choose to. i am in "tune" with my spirituality, my sexuality, and my professional life, now, if i could just get the hang of this sky diving stuff! everyone, take care, be safe, god bless. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

my observation is the same. i say the "apostle's creed" each time i jump, on the ground, and before gear check at 8K, then i make the "sign of the cross" on my chest, and heart, and i see a LOT of others doing it as well. i think a lot of sky divers are afraid they will be ridiculed for being "soft hearted, or religous" i, personally admire an individual who is "in tune" with their creator, whomever that may be. my wife and i were raised in the lutheran faith, and we have bible study each and every evening, and mornings when time allows, when it doesn't, we make time, even if it's just a couple of minutes. were not "bible thumpers" but we do believe in god, and we do attend church. we have a bible study guide that is issued by our church each month called "portals of prayer" that is an excellent study guide, plus on the net, there is "Bible Study" which e-mails me a complete study guide each and every morning, so no matter if i'm at work, or in my office at home, i can still be in the word, AND it's non denominational, includes ALL faiths, genders, sexual preferences, etc...there's something here for everyone, singles seeking christian mates, studies on world leaders, too much to describe, go have a look. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

Zennie: the whole inception (you know, you were in on the original thread) was to include everyone in a prosperous view so to speak. it has nothing to do with what you have, or how much of it you have, i went to great strides to make it to where everyone could be included, not just the real "Yuppies" it is a fun thing, and as i said, it is to be concieved in no other way other than the spirit in which it is offered. and it is offered out of kinship and brotherhood/sisterhood. it also sets a standard of behaviour, and protocol for lending a hand to others when needed. personally, it's not a money issue, or material possession issue, it's a humanatarian issue. i'm sorry, but i truly don't see what you are referring to in the above. and i'm sorry you percieve it the way you do, if you would like to be removed let me know, i thought it would be fun, i guess you don't see the humor in it. apologies in advance if it offended you. take care, best of wishes always. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
