HH: is that link for real? thatza twip!! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  2. and "I" had to miss it!! any chance of re-posting it for those of us who missed out? J/K Boss Man!! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  3. us "texas boys" call this "crawfishing" come now, let's not do that! but to answer your question legitimately, yes, i would jump from altitude without a reserve, "IF" i could, but i can't according to the F.A.R.S. essentially, that's what were all doing anyway, your reserve is only a "backup" NOT a "sure thing" there is no guarantee that it is going to work. please, by all means sir, correct me if i have made yet another mistake! let me add, that it is my belief that the only thing that keeps man inventing safety devices is twofold: 1) to keep from being sued 2) the fear of dying i have neither concern. but i will try to preserve my life as long as i can, out of respect for my religion, and my fellow man. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  4. for you darling, anything, anytime!
  5. anything she wants! and anytime she wants! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  6. Chuck: all i can say is we got "ripped off" i can't believe they didn't air that. Glad it went well for you! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  7. yes, i agree that they can, have, and will fail. will i jump without one? i hope to in the very near future, i'm planning on obtaining a B.A.S.E. rig, and it won't have a reserve. so the answer is yes, i would jump without one. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  8. this logic is no rocket science, only common sense. do you agree that a cypress can/and/will fail? if the answer is yes, and you wouldn't jump without a cypress, now do you get it? --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  9. this is a personal decision. i've heard 500 reasons why you shouldn't jump without one, but then i've heard 500 more reasons why you should jump with one. it all boils down to this: "what are YOU comfortable with?" in the end, it's your tail on the line, no one elses. AAD's like RSL's are a matter of what you think you can/cannot live with, for some there is the "comfort" that these devices offer, as well as a cypress save while being unconcious (which, by the way is the ONLY reason i utilize one) would i jump without it? in a nanosecond, not a second thought, the same for an RSL. i will say this, if you won't jump without one, you shouldn't be jumping with one, they fail too, you should not, and cannot depend on this mechanical device to magically save your life. good luck, be safe and take care. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  10. this ones easy! they do it because it's an attempt to insult and belittle the female to whom they are referring. being a "sl*t" for a woman is a bad thing, but for a "guy" it's a good thing, it makes him a "stud" i dont not condone this, nor do i refer to females in this fashion either, i try to treat everyone, females included, as i would like to be treated myself. oh, they're looking, but they'll never admit it, not even to themselves. "rise above" words are just that...words...try to live them up, or down is a waste of positive energy. most of the women i know are secure in the fact, that they know "who" they are, and i like a self reliant, confident woman, just like yourself sweetheart! take care, good luck, hope to see you soon before i leave for Saudi-Arabia. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  11. you realize that he is NOT the only one that does that...right? it's amazing the strides one will go to for self promotion. does Mr. Cummings manufacture anything that is his own design, or does he simply rebuild "used" equipment" and put the gigantic "CUMMINGS" logo on it? --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  12. that's exactly where all of my equipment will be today, 24" P.C. and all! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  13. Michelle: kewel segment! i wish they would have given you more "air time" though. i'm glad they focused on the "training over panic" that's a good thing! it was great!! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  14. that suks! like we want to watch the game now? RIGHT! off to ESPN2. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  15. Phree: just for conversations sake, what other function is the PC supposed to perform, besides pulling the bridle out of the container, pulling the closing pin, and exposing the d-bag into the airstream? i can't see how wingloading, etc would have an effect in this particular situation, but if you know something i don't i'm all ears. i've seen line twists a dozen times, and this isn't the first, or the last instance where they have been this severe, i've got an mpeg of linetwists just such as mine on my cpu here at my home office, wonder if he rushed out and changed out his pc? i just can't see where that had any effect in this incident. i had a long disscussion with Dan Preston, and Jim Cazar, and neither of them mentioned that this would/could be a problem, i even had a close friend tell me to leave the original 33" pc on the rig, but i didn't simply because it was fraying from too many jumps, and needed to be changed out anyway. What's the recommended pilot chute size? and this: straight off of the Atair site i've done my research, even prior to my purchases. as should everyone. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  16. the first gentleman that responded to your posts has played a large part in my sky diving, i learned to utilize this procedure (flexing the 3 ring system, and had just done it the day before) from him, in any event, all i have to add to what either of these two very learned sky divers have already said, if your flying with an RSL, "act like it's not even there" same thing as an AAD. when i had my cut-away, the thought of the RSL being there never occured to me, i didn't have time to even think about it, i just initiated my emergency procedures as i was instructed some time ago. hope this info helps. bottom line, do not depend on auxillary devices to activate any of your "Plan B" equipment. take care, stay safe, and ask all the questions you want. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  17. Paula: you got my house bugged or something? how'd you know where my equipment was going? you know the old saying: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" plus, when, and if you have to pull silver, ya gotta have that warm fuzzy feeling, and with the man in colorado, i have just that feeling! take care paula, thanks for your posts. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  18. Phree: i know you fly a Cobalt as i do. i put the 24" zero-p Jim Cazar on the main because that was manufacturer reccomendations, i even spoke on the phone with Dan Preston about it, this was the 30th jump on this canopy, i can tell you, it most definitely wasn't the pilot chute diameter, or the fact that it is "zero-p" what are your thoughts? --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  19. Moody: i know he just did, i copied it, it's going on my website as well, it'll be there in a couple of days! thanks for being so sweet after i was all bummed out the other afternoon, that meant a lot, cause i was REALLY bummed! i had a great time at the boogie, can't wait for the next one. Good Job AOT!! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  20. the 24" pc is brand new, it's a jim cazar, i bought it when i bought my cobalt just a couple of weeks ago. i would like to know what caused this, not to lay blame, but so i don't have to go through it again, i've had line twists before, but this way extreme, and unrecoverable. i fully expected a "hard cut-away" but did not, it came really easy, i always cut-away my main, and deploy my reserve just before handing it to the rigger that will be repacking it, and it cut-away just as easy loaded, as it did with me standing on the ground june 1st 2001 when Hook last repacked it. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  21. Dave: thanks, i was wondering where they got off to! it was fun meeting you, and your dz this weekend, i only wished i hadn't had the cut-away. o.k., i'll stop whining! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  22. well, i wasn't missinformed, i can't read, when i went to the website just now, it clearly states that this was the 3rd annual AOTMB, i have no excuse other than suffering from poor eyesight, or just plain not paying attention, or a combination of both?? --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  23. The first annual AOTMB did ROCK! thanks to Todd and Kathy Spillars. Hugh, and his CASA, which was a blast. and all of the dz.comers that were there, the ones i knew i fly with, the ones i didn't, it was a pleasure meeting you. andyman, your way kewel, kris, you as well, moody wuz up? your a sweet young lady. didn't get to meet freaksis, i had my mal/chop, and since i don't have a second rig yet, i hung my canopy, untangled it, boxed it up, and bailed, i was bummed...oh well, i'm alive. BUT, i do hold an aggie sky dive record...FIRST cut-away there at the DZ! (yes, i bought beer, ask aggiedave!) the only "downside" to the event was of course Michael Gahan's landing, please remember to contribute to his cause (i did) we all know how expensive it is, and if your like me, your insurance drops you like a "bad habit" once they find out you sky dive...dogz! it was nice to see sky divers come together from both houston DZ's, oklahoma, dallas, lexington, san marcos, chicago, etc...had fun guys/gals "Let's Do It Again!" everyone take care, be safe and god bless. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  24. a lot of people saw mine this weekend at the AOTMB, everyone wanted to try it on and look at it. if you cannot hear your audible, either mount it inside, or switch ears, my hearing is better in my right ear, so thats where i put it. also make sure the piece of padding is removed. glad ya liked it, it is a wonderful helmet. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
  25. the Cobalt 170 is loaded at 1.5294, and i was on my back spinning rapidly when i cut away, i probably made three revs before cutting away, so i knew the main would go one way, and i'd be in a different quadrant when my reserve fired, thus removing the possibility of firing the reserve into the main. if no one takes anything else away from this "incident, take this with you, in my mind the importance of "flexing the 3 rings" at 30 day intervals is very important, i learned this from a very experienced colleague, the pull was effortless, once i got my hand on it. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
