i think tandem progression, into whatever program you choose from there, will be fine. the thing i worry about more than anything is new people getting into the sport and not being acclaimated to "freefall" my first tandem happened so fast i never knew what happened. i think you can learn as much about "canopy control" from a good TM as you can (or more) in a SL program, because you are actually under canopy with a very experienced TM and they will teach you to fly the canopy just the same, i believe this method gets the student(s) off to a better start. for the person who wants to jump "once" definetly tandem. good luck, with whatever method you employ! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

this really hits home. i don't know who did it, neither would i have a clue who would even entertain the idea. but i do believe in the ying/yang theory. who ever pulled this little stunt will most surely die a slow painful death. i do know who it wasn't though, and that's me, i'm 8600 miles from home!

we've had these discussions here before, so i think everyone here knows where i stand on this subject. for those who wish to believe, that is there right, and for those who wish not to, that is equally there right as well. having said that, i am a believer, and i try, although i must admit, i fall WAY short of the "mark" a lot, but my definition of being a "christian" is to be "christ like" treat others the way Jesus treated his peers during his lifetime, so i just try my best to "gel" with all cultures, and all genders no matter whom, or where. as i've said before, diversity is the best mixture that mankind can offer. it makes mankind very interesting. enjoy your freedoms you have there in the states, i can tell you, where i am right now, you could not even say the things you say here on this website, and get away with it. i'm loading my new Cobalt with the red diamonds, and horrible "kneck snapping" cheezy 2 stage opening pile of junk at 1:1:5294:1 (just kidding about the atair remarks!) it is a great canopy. i had my first cut-away at the AOTMB on jump #475, and jump # 30 on the Cobalt. what'd you sell me dan? ya'll take care, i'm still in the middle east, but hope to return to the states on the 28th of this month. peace... --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

Free: this rig is (was) working for Saudi-Aramco in the gulf off of the coast of Kuwait, unbelievably, no lives were lost, but a few injuries, which i shant expound on just now, as i haven't the time. i'm in the Saudi-Arabian desert close to Dahran on a Sante-Fe international rig drilling deep gas wells (working for Saudi-Aramco as well), and hope to be home ALIVE by the end of the month. nacmac, thanks for asking, Free (my sweetheart) thanks as well. hooknswoop got my rig back to me today (well to my house) i can't wait to get back in the air! you know you trust a rigger when you ship your rig out of state to get the reserve repacked after a cut-away! thanks Derek!

my "golden rule" for myself is, if i'm at my hard deck, and i'm not S.S.S. (square, steerable and stable) i will go to "plan b" in the instance i had a broken steering line, i would see if i could rear riser it, while still with some altitude, and i'm sure i could, if for some reason i couldn't, Cha-Chink! C Ya! and i'm not one to be quick to cut-away at all, one of these days, i fear that may be my undoing, i've cleared a lot of stuff when i shouldn't have fooled with it, but i've always had a good canopy at 1600'-1800' AGL as well. but having said all of that, when in doubt "whoop that reserve out!" --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist" -
if i had to change just one thing, i would change my profession, i HATE being away from my home, family. over the years (my youngest is a senior in high school now) i've missed a lot of stuff, football games, baseball games, etc...not being there enough for my family is the only regret i have, well, that, and i would have furthered my education, which i still intend to do in about another year. but all in all, it's been o.k. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
