you forgot to ask one question in your poll. how many people "wish" they could make a living off of skydiving? as far as occupations of everybody that doesn't make a living off of sky diving, this has been asked a hundred times already. (do a search) "i don't make my living sky diving, i just sky dive to live!"

Hook: this is good, correct and useful information. i was wondering if i could impose upon you to post your thoughts on "proper body position" during deployment under an elipitacal main. i know this is more than likely what caused my severe line twists/cut-away, as i can find nothing else to blame it on, based on the severity of the twists. until i started jumping this Cobalt, i have experienced line twists now and then, but i know body position is more critical than ever under an elipitical main? i've read all of Atair's criteria on deployment during the "dual stage" deployment, but still have yet to have an opening that is uneventful. ie: end cell closure etc...i know some think you should arch symetrically and deploy, i do this, but i watch my canopy deploy, always looking up, until it's SSS, perhaps it's something i'm doing here that's killing me? i know this has nothing to do with you post topic, could you "shed some light" on this for me please? thanking you in advance for your time. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

Dave: according to the guys i work with out here (they speak really broken english, arabic launguage) the number is way higher than that, and they are staunch in their punishment system. i couldn't believe it when they were telling me of this. they will also mutilate the body after death, just to add insult to injury. but then again, they believe if you kill yourself for religion, you'll be a martyr as well. it's definitely a different culture. if your an american, and you come over here to the "kingdom" U.A.E. you are subject to their laws, and have to sign a form stating you will abide by them, and that you agree to be subject to their punishments for whatever the crime is. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

Hook: i guess i failed each one of these assignments miserably. hopefully, i won't have another reserve ride due to poor body position, but if i do, i know what condition to ship it from now on. this is a good post, and if you do stow your toggles on your reserve, it may costs you more money, if you stow your excess line as well, it did me. my main is velcroless, so actually when i had my reserve ride (jump # 475, 30th jump on my Cobalt) i hadn't seen velcro since student status, and consequently lost my reserve ripcord, while unstowing the left brake line because i had to pull on it so hard. that velco on the toggles seems to be stronger than the velcro on the rigs i jumped on student status at SDSL, or maybe because it's never been used before, except reserve re-pack cycles. anyway, great posts Sensai. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

only their right hand, not both. it is a disshonor in the arab/egyptian society to have your right hand removed. they eat with their right hand, and wipe their arse with the left, so to have to eat, and wipe your arse with the same hand is a really big dissgrace. they still have public hangings, and punishment here as well. if our penalities were half as stiff as these peoples are, i can garantee you, we'd have fewer thieves, because the punishment just in't worth it, plus the muslims are far too religous and devout in their faith, well most of them anyway. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

that reminds me of when i was.........um.......no, that wasn't me. but i did see a u.f.o. once man! i was at a football game, and all of the sudden it came out of nowhere, it told me to have a "goodyear!" (that 70's show: Tommy Chong) --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

don't know if these were in any high school essays or not, but they should have been, the following are a few of my favorites: 1) "man is the only animal that blushes, or needs to" Mark Twain 2) "the dogmas of the quiete past are inadequate to the stormy present. the occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise to the occasion. as our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew" Abraham Lincoln "a competitive world has two possibilities for you. you can lose or, if you want to win, you can change" Lester C. Thurow Former Dean, Sloan School Of Management Massachusetts Institute Of Technology "all things are ready. if our minds be so." William Shakespeare Author: Henry The Fifth "all right ladies! off your ass, and on your feet. out of the shade, and in the heat" Huntis Black Junior High Football Coach Giddings, Texas --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

that had to hurt. with dogs like that, you need a lot of friends! i found a "desert dog" on this rig i'm on in Saudi-Arabia, near Haradh, he looks kind of like a great dane/labrador mix, at first he wouldn't even come to me (he has obviously been abused) he is really malnurished. so at first i was having the chef fix me some grilled chicken breasts, and i was feeding them to him, he wouldn't take the food from me, he was so scared, then after about 4 or 5 days, he started taking the chicken from my hand, now he's a kewel pet. him taking that chicken from my hand reminded me of the trust between "dances with wolves" (kevin costner) and the wolf in the movie. this is odd, but true as well, i took some pictures of him, and i will post them as soon as i get home. i'm using a company computer over here, and not allowed to attach any hardware. plenty when i return. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

first of all, this shouldn't be an issue in a custody litigation procedure. but, if it were, and it meant my children or sky diving, that's a no brainer, the answer is a resounding "YES" good luck, take care. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

you may be on to something there, i don't know. in any event, could we keep this on topic?
-
c'mon guys, this isn't about weapons control, it's about us trying to help catch this person. if we can all pool our resources, and think a little bit, i betcha we could catch this clown. i mean, lookit, we're all skydivers, and we're all from all over the usa, so hey, let's give it a shot! we could lock a bad person up, AND get skydiving some good press!

agreed. but what makes me think some sort of additional training is the "stealth" of this particular individual. in quick, out quick. that's hard to pick up on all by yourself. my son is in the military, i can be at home in my office, and next thing you know, there he is, out of the blue, he does it just to give me the creeps. and i'm a fairly observative, perceptive individual, ya gotta be pretty good to sneak up on me, in fact i'm used to sneaking up on others. (and no, it's not me) --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

...to whom the big bad sniper is on the eastern seaboard? (DC/VA) whom ever they may be, in my opinion the person must have been trained either by the military, or some other covert team. one thing is sure, bad as it may sound, this person is a good shot, gets away fast, and seems to always "have a back-up plan" so i'm profiling male, approx. 25-30 years of age, caucasian, maybe 5'8" short blond hair, green/blue eyes, ex-military with an "other than honorable discharge" what are your thoughts? perhaps we can help bring this person, whether it be male, or female in to justice. how would you profile the "sniper" as per your observations, what you've heard on the news. this person is getting to the "hannibal lechter" stage in his game, leaving taunting clues, and messages for the police. make no mistake, this person will be caught, they'll make that "fatal slip" and get busted. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

Quotenope... i have said my end. There would be no need to lock. This one's done. *** not only do you appear to be illiterate, but a missinformer as well, AKA a common liar. just an observation. now, this you can take this to the bank, and draw interests on, this is my last word on the matter, professor. bye now, hope you heal well. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

heed your own advice weather man. learn to spell! i'm not attacking you. if i were to attack you, i'm almost certain i would make a wise remark how after 8 sky dives you so ignorantly injured youself. but i DIDN'T make that remark. now that would be a personal attack. i hope the meterologists i get my flight information from are more literate than you are! J/K by the way, what are the coridinates for the Bahrain area again? i forget just now. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

it bothers me when someone who is not well versed in current world affairs with personal, real knowlege of different cultures and countries to make remarks like this. yeah, i can see right away, your a "real american" all right, wave your flag, and recite all the articles of the first amendment (if you can) if you have something to say, get it said, stop beating around the bush. i'm a proud opened minded citizen of the USA, my son is serving his country with honor as we speak, my father served his (our) country for 22 1/2 years and retired with full military honors. you don't even know where Bahrain is, do you? i bet you have no idea where the UAE, or quartar is located, do you? do some homwork, get a world map out, and while your at it, extract your cranium from your anal orifice. and let the "grey matter" kick in before your "pie hole" goes to running. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

the states isn't the only country with citizens who feel this way. you make this acertion with any personal or firsthand knowlege of your own? (you spelled john's last name wrong.) such a place, anywhere in the world does not exist. yeah, we really got it good. unemployment, all time high, corporate excutives stealing from our workers...etc... any chance that just one drop of blood may be your own? are you referring to the boys in the military? half of the problem is no one wants to see both sides. there is more than one person in command of a country that has no business being there, including the US. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

if you'll notice, this article was written in the states. Bahrain is an island, not part of the UAE, in fact they are more "westenized" than any other middle eastern country, and a US tourists attraction at that. Bahrain does have "freedom of the press" as for how they (Iraq, which Bahrain is no part of) run their elections, i have no first hand knowlege of their election procedures. i still have a bad taste in my mouth from our own presidential election in the states. was it pure coincidence that jeb bush's state of florida was a factor? we need to "pull our heads out of the sand" elections have been "bought and paid for" in the states for years, no matter the number of names on the ballot. who do you think put JFK in office? (the very same people who took him out of office) and surely your not buying the "single shooter" story? re: JFK's assination. it's no wonder LBJ didn't want a second term. as for who is "more brain washed" to tell you the truth, i'm not sure, i believe half of what i see, and nothing of what i hear. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
-
i'm sure this statement more than clarifies my position on this article. having said that, are you of the opinion we may well be doing the same thing to achieve our objectives? food for thought. personally, i wish the whole mess would just "go away" --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
