  1. Rude staff? At Headcorn???!!! Surely not... Vicki
  2. PM-ed it to you. That's exactly why I don't want to post it here. It pisses me off too. They have taken very personal comments that have since been deleted and published them. That sucks. Too right - it's a VERY sad time for British skydiving, in so many ways. Vicki
  3. I've sent it to you already actually - may as well as I've been sitting in the office all morning with nothing to do! Particularly annoying on a beautiful day like today... Vicki
  4. I don't have a scanner atm I'm afraid, but I can type it out and PM it to you if you like? I'd rather not post it on this site though, since those posts have obviously been deleted for a reason. Vicki
  5. I have found a copy of the Daily Mail for 8th July lurking around the office and have read the offending article. I was going to type the article out in full for all to see exactly what the Daily Mail have been up to, but on reflection they have included quotes from posts which appear to have since been deleted so I won't as I respect the fact that the people in question may have wanted their comments taken off this site for personal reasons. Just to give you a flavour of it though... Adrian Blair, a fellow student at the Royal Military College of Science in Shrivenham, Wiltshire, told skydiving Internet site Dropzone.com: ..." As has been said before - let's all be careful what we say as the press are clearly reading everything that is being written here. Vicki
  6. Hey, hope you're feeling better. Can't give any good advice other than to take it easy until you're feeling better but plenty of vibes coming your way. Vicki
  7. I'm with MAC on this one. Call me paranoid if you like, but until they catch the psycho who did this, I'm gonna be a whole lot more careful about where I leave my rig at the DZ during the day. It's not nice to have to lock your kit up, but then neither is the person who did this. Vicki
  8. Yeah, absolutely! I did the B-17 too, at Quincy in 2000 and it was totally awesome and definitely worth the $350 !!! Vicki
  9. Unlucky Try AXA - their dangerous sports cover seems to cover pretty much everything and like I say the annual worldwide policy was only £93ish. Vicki
  10. I’d heard about the two jump limit on the Columbus Policy as well. From what I remember of it, it applies to new policies taken out but I guess call and check if in any doubt! Vicki
  11. I got a worldwide annual policy earlier this year with AXA for (I think £93) - NB make sure you take the dangerous sports cover option! http://www.axatravel.co.uk/ they were about half the price of Harrison Beaumont http://www.hbinsurance.co.uk/ who I had always used previously. There was a good article recently in Skydive Mag about insurance: http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/feb03/itwonthappen.htm which also gives some other options. hth! Vicki
  12. It's very, very sad but at the moment I think we all have to be extra vigilant. I'm wondering what changes others are going to be making to what they do with their rigs between jumps? Personally I will be getting a padlock for my rig bag if I keep it in the packing hall between jumps and making sure it goes home with me EVERY evening. Vicki
  13. What can you say? The whole thing makes my blood run cold. The thought that another skydiver (and let’s face it, it has to be a skydiver) could do something that awful just makes me want to be sick. I guess until the police get to the bottom of it we’re all going to have to be extra careful – I for one will be purchasing a padlock for my rig bag today. It’s something that we shouldn’t have to do but it seems that there is a sick psycho out there. Whoever did this had better pray that the police find them before the skydivers do. Sincere condolences to Steve’s family and friends. I knew him to chat to and he was always a thoroughly nice, fun, friendly guy. Vicki
  14. Main: Sabre 135 loaded at 1.2 Reserve: Tempo 150 loaded at just under 1.1 850 jumps. My next rig will be a Spectre 120 with a Techno 128 reserve. Vicki
  15. I reckon about 70ish wpm - I can go faster but then accuracy just disappears! Vicki

    lowest pulled

The lowest I have ever been under canopy is 1,400 feet. It was on one of my early BOC throwaway jumps (I learnt on ripcord) and I just forgot what I was meant to be pulling and where it was. It really scared me actually - I think I ended up pulling at something like 1,700 feet. Vicki
  17. Say hello to my friend Ruth who is on the big way camp with you!
  18. I did hear a very funny story once - how true it is I have no idea. This guy was doing his first flight as a skydiver, was taking his rig on as hand luggage and wearing it (this was obviously pre 9/11 and all the extra security). He walked to his seat, past a very nervous looking old lady, who stared at him with a shocked expression on her face. He turned to her, patted his rig and said nonchalantly, “Didn’t they give you one?” Vicki
  19. I'll second that! I haven't actually burst my ear drums either, but when you over do it and hurt them the pain is absolutely unbelievable - it is so intense it is almost enough to make you want to be sick. My general rule is that if I can clear my ears on the ground, then I am ok to jump. If I can't, then I stay on the ground - simple. The pain is just not worth it for one jump! Vicki
  20. I found this on the Headcorn Parachute Club website: http://www.headcornparachuteclub.co.uk/downloads/2ways.pdf It says, "If you want to utilise the time when there are only two of you at the drop zone, download this useful pdf showing a series of drill dives that will progress your skills in 2-way that can be used in 4-way..." I haven't looked at or downloaded this so let us know if it's any good! hth Vicki
  21. I have had a Sabre 135 in a teardrop classic container that was built for a PD170 for the last 200+ jumps. It's actually surprisingly ok, but I have had to shorten the closing look a lot. Overall, it's easy to get in the bag and the closing loop is tight enough. Having said that though, I am about to order a new container! Vicki

    Bored?

Yeah, I used to waste way too much time there when I was at University and was meant to be studying for exams... Vicki
  23. You could try looking on various gear stores websites - I know that both Square1 and Sunshine Factory have a "used gear" section and I'm sure many others do too. Happy hunting! Vicki
  24. It's even been nice here in England! What's goin' on?! Vicki
