I think there should be an, "Aggie Daves" forum; kinda like the, "Ask Sunshine" thread. This way, as I see it, I wouldn't have to go hunting all through the forums looking for Daves comments. They would all be in one place automatically. At Rantoul I... Found as many people who were getting wasted as getting in jumps... or both Heard of/saw at least twice as many people get injured on the ground that weren't skydiving ... despite the countless worst landings I have ever painfully endured spectating... Met at least three times as many brothers/sisters from everywhere as I had ever expected... ;ie. family reunion Four wheels will not keep a golf cart horizontal... they need out-riggers or something Discovered five jumpers are almost never first out... Realized a six of your own beers will get you by 'til the beer tent starts giving out free beer... Found it impossible (for me) to get seven jumps in one day... after 7 days Drank way more than I ate... Was amazed at how many jumpers were flying nine cell canopies... kinda... Had my only two-way with Bytch that had to go out at 10,000... life is like snow... you never know how high your gonna get or how long its gonna last Saw Bytch suck down eleven jello shots before I finished one beer... and she was up the next morning before I was Conclude finally, Burrito made me official (thanks Bro!) on a 12-way HD flock from the DC 3... At Twelve-O'clock AM the party is just getting started... At Twelve-O'clock Pm the clouds just start to clear -or- move in... It takes about twelve minutes to wait on average for a load not on weather hold... That contrary to popular belief; twelve beers is only a mild buzz... Yeah, I totally agree. He says it's a relatively small dose he's taking and that the recommendations by the Doctors are rather more generic and generally addressed to patients taking more powerful doses... He's probably at more risk than someone not taking the drug though is my opinion, like Quade says if something happens. The other thing he says is that there are no euphoric side effects that would otherwise make it illegal to jump. I trust this guy, but jumping is already inhernetly dangerous enough, isn't it? AS well your comment about there is more to flight characteristics then landing... hmmmm? Seems like the best place to start to me? Sounds like you are lacking flair in the canopy control department. It takes some flair to safely land a demo that is higher performance than what you're used to. First thing might be, finding its stall point and then working backwards to 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 brakes "up high." So, come landing time you flare at just about the same time as you would on your Spectre only now you are more familiar with this particular canopy's input locations. Secondly, if you were "too low" we probably woulnd't be talking right now. Maybe sufing a demo on the first jump should be discouraged until you have more flair on that canopy. Thirdly, you bled your speed off going deeper on the brakes [digging out/stabbing] because you flared too late. therfore you had insufficient speed to get that, "nice lift at the end" So curious also, that you had time to waste playing with harness controls, on an obviously over-sized harness, but "can't seem to figure out the flare up high?" Anyway, try hooking the canopy up to your own rig. And use your time "up high" more responsibly. And I do agree there is more to canopy flying than pond swooping, you should have some flair flying one first. And like has already been mentioned some canopy coaching sounds like a very good idea, if not sooner, then no later than the moment you get your new canopy. It's not the loading that will kill you its the landing!!! -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!

I have watched in amazement as well as to what the hell is the big deal is anyway??? Geez! Friends of mine with decades and thousands of jumps tell me, "It does matter" [the D-number] whether you believe it or not, "people notice your d-number" I don't know , what, like Lew Sanborne? Theres only one... He's already got that number. so much after that is like a fart in the wind anyway, isn't it? When I had had one jump I couldn't imagine twenty, when I had twenty I had a hard time imagining a hundred. When I had two hundred, I think thats when I began to appreciate how much I had to learn. When I had five hundred I was sure I could be really good with at least a thousand more jumps!!! Another thing that amazes me is that people don't jump with or without me because I have or don't have a a D-license. In the past couple years I have jumped more with low-time jumpers than more experienced jumpers. I guess that just naturally happens after a while? I have probably learned as much from them as they have from me... So, now more than ever, I feel I have something to share; to teach. Now it seems like a D might be a good idea. But until about now, it never mattered, really. You can't compete, demo [real demos] or get a job without the jump numbers as a basic requirement to get in the door anyway... so WTF!!???
