  1. ok yall, send up the prayers and well wishes for my cousin. He's a 22 year old black pilot in the 101st Air Assault division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He just called us to tell us that he is being shipped out tomorrow!!! for the middle east. God I hope he is ok over there. sinker -the artist formerly known as sinker

  3. I definately could use a beer... about the law suit stuff... 1. A judge and/or jury statement of causality in a death case (i.e. Paxil caused the man to kill..) is very different from scientific evidence about cause and effect 2. SSRI's make big pharmas BILLIONS of dollars, yet billions. Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft have each made their makers billions of dollars. They have a HUGE interest in protecting their cash cows. 3. The man on Paxil for two days and murdered his family... sorry folks, but Paxil doesn't even come close to having such an effect on people. Most often it takes 4-6 weeks or more to get an effect. The SSRI's are mild drugs folks until they reach their therapeutic effect. Then, when the brain is used to all that extra serotonin floating around, watch out. 4. Clinical trials are, overwhelmingly, objective. That's part of my job as a clinical trial monitor, to ensure that docs and pharmaceuticals are being honest. Truth about SSRI's are that they HAVE helped MILLIONS and the incidence rate of any of these suicides, murders, etc., even it if is causal, is extremely low. Even still, by all means put a freaking warning lable that says MAY CAUSE... ##### man, efedrin is more dangerous and its available over the counter. Thanks for letting me rant. -the artist formerly known as sinker
  4. thanks for the correction. Definately see if you can find the article, i'd be very interested in seeing it. my ? is, if he didn't "need" the drug, he shouldn't have been in a clinical trial for it. Unless he participated in one of the earliest trials for the drug, wherein they test the drug on healthy volunteers to see how it affects the body and how the body affects the drug. hope you find it... let me know, k?? -the artist formerly known as sinker
  5. I think you're referring to the guy who tried to mount a "Prozac defense" after killing people while ON the medication. But, there is NO scientific proof whatsoever that this class of antidepressants cause or even contribute to violence. Now, that isn't to say that someone with a propensity to violence won't act out when he is tripping out during SSRI withdrawal, but man, there are countless chemicals that contribute to that. but, point taken. This matter is nuthing to #### around with. -the artist formerly known as sinker
  6. You are SO right! The neurochemistry of the brain is incredibly complex and vitally important. Drugs like Zoloft (my personally fave) and Paxil and Prozac affect serotonin. One psychiatrist I worked with compared serotonin to the oil in your car! If it's low (likely the case in depression), your engine is not working well (excuse the analogy, I know it's overly simplistic). However, thoughts and emotions and behaviors also have a strong effect on brain chemistry. Skydiving is one of the strongest influencers of this chemistry (like I need to tell YOU all that). Josh, be well man, careful w/ the sauce. Hope I haven't sounded preachy, haven't meant to. Just don't want people to suffer unecessarily, even stubborn ones like you -the artist formerly known as sinker
  7. you betcha. glad you enjoyed it. makes me laugh every time I remember it... -the artist formerly known as sinker
  8. I'm assuming your talking about the effect that Paxil and the other SSRI's has on allowing men to last longer in bed. Although it doesn't have an FDA indication for rapid ejaculation, it's often used for that, much to the enjoyment (and sometimes frustration) of their lovers. For some however, the SSRI's supress libido so far that they just aren't interested at all in sex anymore. Hows that for a treatment for depression??? Take away the blues, but take away the desire for the horizontal mombo??? ####... -the artist formerly known as sinker

  10. Josh... c'mon man, getting blitzed isn't gonna solve the matter, alcohol only masked the withdrawal. And, alcohol has an interaction effect w/ the serotonin activity produced by the Paxil. Like someone else said, Paxil is a long acting drug and it takes awhile to wash out. Staying off of it cold turkey is just going to prolong your misery. It won't kill you or anything, but your withdrawal symptoms are likely to last for some time, especially if you've been on the Paxil for a couple of months or more. Just be wise about it, call your doc and get on a titration schedule. Otherwise you will be miserable and no amount of alcohol is going to help you. It'll just make it worse. -the artist formerly known as sinker
  11. and by the way, sorry the docs didn't properly inform you about the drug and it's side effects. To me that is classic malpractice. No excuse for it. -the artist formerly known as sinker
  12. hey... I'm a pharmaceutical researcher, so for what it's worth... you may know this by now, but you can safely tritrate off of Paxil (decrease the dose) in a manner that minimizes the withdrawal syndrome. You experienced alot of flu-like symptoms it sounds like. Pretty common for all the SSRI's, the general term for the class of antidepressants into which Paxil falls (same for Prozac, Zoloft, Luvox, etc) I'm assuming you're a guy, hope I'm not wrong. Just be glad you didn't experience the withdrawal symptom that maybe 1 in 10 men get, a numb winkie!!! I used to work w/ a psychiatric nurse whose husband was a bit blue but wouldn't see a shrink (after all, seeing one is not a panacea). So, she stoll Paxil samples, ground them up in his coffee and within a week he came down to breakfast white as a ghost... wifey asked what was wrong, he said his member was numb. So confess she did and the sheeznit hit the fan... -the artist formerly known as sinker
  13. Although I am not a Texan (please forgive me Aggie Dave), I AM a gun loving gun toting shooting freak. Chute & Shoot just sounds like too much fun. How about swooping into position, quick drawing, blowing the #### out of something... but the paint ball under canopy idea takes the cake... -the artist formerly known as sinker

  15. Hey! Another skydiver in Nashville! Were you just visiting? I live in Nashville, and what the server told you was true, locals are very low key about celebs there. I've seen Amy Grunt I man Grant in Kroger, Wynonna, Michael W. Smith, Michael McDonald, Emilou Harris (sp?), Senetor Fred Thompson, etc. At first it was hard to supress the urge to get autographs, but when I saw how incredibly stupid some fans can be, I got the hint, I didn't want to be one of those. Although I have to confess, I flew from Nashville to NYC w/ Katie Couric a few months ago and I just couldn't help but google a little over her-- she has cute little feet
  16. I greatly loved him. He was so full of integrity and honor. You never ever heard of him in a scandalous way, like Michael Jackson, some priests that will remain nameless, etc. A good friend of mine, an ex-Marine, has always had Mr. Rodgers as a hero. For Christmas this year my wife and I and my friend's brother got together and wrote a letter to Mr. Rodgers to tell him what an inspiration he has been to my friend and to ask for a signed picture as a Christmas present. Not only did he send an 8x10 personally signed, he wrote a VERY gracious letter to my friend as well!! My friend just wept. It was such a wonderful thing. we'll miss you Fred, -the artist formerly known as sinker

  22. I can't help but agree w/ AggieDave. Skydiving isn't for everyone and doing the tandem is the best way to go to really get a good feel if this is the sport for you. I did two tandems, one to get over the big anxiety, and the second to really relax and enjoy it. It was the right way for me. Then I went to AFF and whizzed right through. -sinker -the artist formerly known as sinker
