  1. I like to video the landings, but I just don't like taking my hands out of the toggles to turn it back on that close to the ground so I've been turning it on when I start setting up. The video of this part sucks. I usually end up flying a right hand pattern so my left is all the way up and the video is just the tops of our heads mostly and it kinda seems to drag on and on before the landing. I figured that with a cameye I could turn it on right before landing and not have to take my hands out of the toggles.
  2. That's a cool shot. Is that a reflection of you in the TMs goggles?
  3. [replySo far the intruction manual has 18 pages worth of preperation, rehersal, malfunctions, etc. - So can we see it now or do we have to wait til it's done? I don't have much experience with it (about 400 tandems. 10 with a Handcam), but if you're interested in a newbies perspective I'd be happy to fill out the questionaire.
  4. Anybody using one? Where do you mount it? I know there's a spot for it on the waycool gloves, but I'm not sure where I'd put it on the riggerrob version. I'm thinking maybe I can sew up some kind of mount to wear it on my finger like a ring where I could hit the button with my thumb. It would be really nice to be able to turn it on and off with one hand. As it is, I turn it on when I start getting into the pattern and then I get video of the back of my head for a couple minutes until landing. How do you guys do it?
  5. I heard a rumor that we're getting a new dz in MI. Somewhere near Lansing? Anybody know anything about it??
  6. I want one. I pm'd you a while ago, but haven't heard back. Can you still hook me up?
  7. That's pretty cool. I have a buddy who's getting his Strong rating in a couple weeks. I'm sure I'll end up riding bitch for his phase 2's. Maybe I'll wear the hand cam on those.
  8. Well, I've had mine for about a month now. I've mostly been wearing it on coach jumps and freefly jumps just for fun and to get used to it. I wore it on my first tandems on Sunday. We had 5 tandems walk in and none of them wanted video. All 5 of them bought it when we were done
  9. Waycool makes some pretty bad ass low profile lenses too. I have a .43 and a .25 from them. No vignette on either one with a pc105.
  10. I just got one from riggerrob about a month ago. Rob is great to deal with and he makes a kick ass product. He didn't have a website when I talked to him, but here's a pic of mine. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=45959;
  11. He was in Grand Rapids, MI last weekend. I hate it when he shows up here on weekends. No jumping from 1 to 4 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Like our little C-182 is a huge threat 25 miles away. It's bullsht. If they're that worried about him they should keep his ass in Washington.
  12. I have an epson r300 that I drag to the dz every weekend. It only prints up to 8.5 X 11's but for $130 it's hard to beat. Individual ink cartriges. It prints borderless prints right from the memory card so I don't need a computer. And for another $20 I just got a little monitor that fits on it so I can crop and stuff. I shopped around alot and this was the best I could find in that price range.
  13. Which one do you sell the most?
  14. How did you make it? Got a pic?
  15. I think saying Handcams will kill the sport is a bit of a stretch. The vidiots will lose some work, but I doubt it will eliminate them. Tandems took some students away from the S/L I's in the beginning, but there are still plenty of them around. I believe the people who want to work will always have work. The people who don't will sit around and bitch about us greedy TM's taking all the money. Vidiots will probably have to buy still cameras or get other ratings to keep making the money they're used to, but I think the sport will be just fine.
  16. Well, I tried this and it said "successfully flushed DNS reslover cache" Still doesn't work. This sucks. Any other ideas?
  17. Is it just me or has Google been down for a couple of days? I can't get to my Gmail either. Anybody else having these problems?
  18. That sounds pretty high. How much is gear rental? Here, we also put them through 7 levels of AFP jumps after 3 tandems, but the total including the tandems is $1236. And that includes gear. I'd shop around... Good luck with it.
  19. What's a walk through? Why is it worse than a flip through? I don't think I've heard that term before.
  20. Hey Rob. Is this better? I like putting my pointer finger through the O-ring instead of my thumb though. When I had it on my thumb it tended to hang down so I had to tip the camera up to look at it. This way it seems to sit up better.
  21. I've got a 37mm kenko .5 with a step ring on my pc105 and it works fine. I can zoom all the way in or out with no problems and there's no vignette. Another thing I've noticed about the low profile lenses is that you can't focus to infinity or it's all blurry. At least with the .25 I have anyways.
  22. Hey Johnathan. I recognize the helmet in your avatar. I shared a room with you and Eddie at the Puerto Rico boogie a couple years ago. Dude, just get a digital camera. It would have taken me forever to learn even the little bit that I've learned over the past couple weekends if I had to worry about not wasting film. In fact I'm pretty sure I never would have gotten into still photography at all without digital cameras and the instant feedback they give you. Good luck with it. Hope to jump with you again sometime. Tony
  23. I figured that by charging the same price I wouldn't take too much business from them. If I charged less I think alot of people would pick the lesser quality video just to save money. I'm hoping that at least a few people will want the free stills though. At $80/jump (including the $30 for the tandem) I won't really need to do too many anyways. Of course I'm also going to wear it on the tandems that don't want video and offer it to them at a "discount" later. I guess this wouldn't cut in to video sales at all. I really don't want to put the vidiots out of business since they're the same guys that taught me to fly video when I first started. But if handcams get too popular those guys are going to need to get tandem ratings.
  24. How much do you guys charge for Handcam video vs. regular video? We've never had one of these at our dz before so I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it without screwing the vidiots too bad. The DZO said he wants $10 from each one for using his editing equipment. Regular video is $59. I'm thinking about charging the same price, but offering some extras with it. I've got a roadstor and a printer that I use for digital stills already so I thought I'd burn them a cd with a bunch of frame grabs and give them maybe six 4X6 prints for free too. Think anybody will buy it?
