actually I was thinking the same thing. This poll could be titled, "what container do YOU have?", and we would get about the same results. I would say we could. Why would some one jump some thing that they thought was not the best rig. I have jumped Vector, Jav, Jav Odyssy. Eclips, Wings and Infinity. And I will never jump a Mirage as I don't like the copany. I have 3 wings The only other rig I would ever concider bying would be an Odyssey. But I would have to say "best rig" (that is over all) would be WINGS. But when it comes down to it almost all the major manufactures make a grat product that skydives great. Unfortunatly I do agrea with you all that you should not have to pay for the course. Unfortunatly it is not your falt nor is it the uspa's. It is not black mail that because my DZO is able to see thiese benifits and is willing to cover thouse costs for me so that I do not have to. And unfortunatly for the ppl who jump at your DZ. Your DZO doe's not see thies benifits and is not willing to cover the costs for you. As I see it you have 6 choices: you can travel to another dz, you can pay the extra cost, you can try to get your DZ to cover the cost, you can get your DZ to becom a member, you can drop your membership and just fallow the FAR's and jump with who you want to or you can not help out your fellow upandcomming skydivers. Non of wich do I see that you are forced to do. Yes we are. And as the rules state a non USPA DZ must pay to have a USPA class heald at their DZ. I think what the artical is trying to inforce is that as a individual member you need to make sure that you are doing what you have agread to do and that a DZ or S&TA (who might have made a mistake in telling you some thing) can not forse you to break the BSR's. Some ppl don't even bother to read the "rules" they rely on others to inturpret them for them. Sorry to hear that you will have to pay more because your DZ is not a member. But I don't think that it is unfair. I do however think it would be unfair if I paid my dews so that a DZ that didn't want to pay could benifit from what I and other DZ's pay for. It is like going and getting insurance affter you had an acedent and geting them to cover it than canceling the policy. Another thought I just had. I would say that most riggers or ppl who know how to pack a resurve would be fine with you packing theirs. I think it might be the "unknown" that would scare jumpers from having you pack their resurve. Just like with a main. For the most part alot of ppl don't care who packs their main as long as they know how. I think that is because the jumper is more aware of the paking (or lack of) that is or can be done to a main and it will still work. Were as with a resurve their are alot of ppl who don't have the slitest clue what goes on under thouse other flaps on their rig. and they may think that it is absolute perfection under their when in fact it is just another shute but one that needs to be handeled with a littel more care. -------------------------------------------------------- Some one must go to the edge for others to be able to find it. I will answer your question with a question that may give you the answer. Why would you need an AAD for CRW. All formations are done over 2.5k, the AAD is meant to be used if you are unable to pull. For CRW the ods of getting knock out coming out of the plane (befor you pull) or after cuting away are not all that great. As with a RSL the problems that can come from having one out weight the ones from not. I don't care weather my rigger is a jumper or not. As long as they know what they are doing. Thier are some FAA apr. rigers that I would not let touch my rig for any reason. I don't care if they have thier ticket or not. The ticket just means that the FAA is ok with you doing the work. It doesn't alwase mean you know what you are doing. If you know what you are doing most ppl will not care but YOU have to prove you know what you are doing. I don't find it sad or pathetic. The reason skydiving is so safe is because the entire group makes it safe and we do such a good job that the FAA sees no reason to step in (for the most part). The fact is that the USPA has set down the BSR's and alot of DZ's do follow them to the point that it sutes thier situation. We as a group have reailised that one rule for everyone is not alwase the the best way. So no it is not sad or pathetic it is actuly quite goodthat we are able to do what we do without a bunch of regulation. One way to get the spring so you can stow it is to get some cardbord and packing tape. Compress the spring inbetween two peces of card bord and tape it up. Nice littel package. Here is a thought. If you have $$ you could take a vacation to the states get you A and then return back and jump at another DZ. I understand their hesitence in taking the risk that you might have a problem but once you have your A I'm sure most places won't even ask for a medical. This is just a thought. have it look in C:/windows or C:/windows/system . The files you need are probley on you HD windows 98 just needs to be told were they are. I do not wish to bash any one. Just give my 02. I live in Portland jump at SDO and fly a $2000 canopy. We are not alowed to fallow any main to the ground because of farmer mic nasty. I have spent the better part of 2 days finding a canopy and we only have pockted woods. Unlike Kpow.I never did find the free bag. I would gladly pay $400 for some thing that would saye me time and insure I would get my main back. I can tell you finding a bright canpopy that is 10' from you in the brush is darne neer imposible nevermind the fact you don't know if it is on the top of the tree or at your feet. -------------------------------------------------------- Some one must go to the edge for others to be able to find it. Wel let me say I am no pro by any means but I use the entire range of my flare espsaley the low end. I have yet to see a conopy with 6" to 1' of slack in the break lines. Not to say that it does not exist. I also dont know how far others pull down on their risers but for me the distance between my dive loop and just above my sholder is around 8'-10' and that is about how far I will pull down if I'm using risers insted of harness. with that said I don't deleave anyon would have much flare with letting out 6" of line unless they were on a steleto. And just remember just because you can't see your tail deflect does not mean that it isn't a litel bit.
