paid pack job chop, lost main
bigben replied to bodypilot90's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A friend of mine had household insurance that covered his rig "while not in use". He had a mal, chopped and lost his main. He claimed that he saw it land, but it was gone when he went to pick it up; I think it actually got washed out to sea. Since he wasn't using it at the time the insurance payed up. -Ben -
I'm on all of them, I use 'gaim' a single client that connects me all at once, it's great. gaim.sourceforge.net -Ben

Should I go see The Hours, Chicago, or About Schmidt?
bigben replied to Jessica's topic in The Bonfire
Accidently saw the hours, the first 20 minutes were really dull, then it got ok, liked it in the end. I'd see about Schmidt if you don't want to think too much. -Ben -
Already booked the time off work....see you there! Cheers -Ben

It's a friendly tank and costs far too much to use on a regular basis.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to the movie. I was referring to the UK's ban of hand guns. My personal opinion is that the hand gun ban is a good thing, in the UK at least. In general the British public don't really want to own guns, unlike the US where it's seen as a right. Where do you draw the line? As was said in the movie, should individuals be allowed to own nuclear weapons? Anyway, I guess it's a big hairy problem with no clear answers. Cheers -Ben

I saw it a while ago, liked it a lot. I remember thinking at the time about the comparisons he drew with the US and western europe. It's true that the UK has a lot less gun violence, but it has a lot more violent crime. So I didn't buy the America lives in fear and other countries don't argument. I think the UK does too. It would have been interesting to see the violent crime stats for other countries, not just the gun related ones. Cheers -Ben

Thanks, I guess that could include random drunken idiocy

Hey all, I wanted to post some video on the web rather than sending it to my friends via e-mail. The problem is that most of the free/cheap web hosting services out there only allow fairly small file sizes. anyone know of any that'll allow >=10Mb files? Cheers -Ben

Would it be worth the $$ for something other then a closing pin?
bigben replied to Pammi's topic in The Bonfire
I wanted to get something written on my pin, but it was going to cost too much because of the kind of metal it was made out of. I'd buy a pin that I could get engraved. I'd like to be able to jump it too, at least once. -Ben -
I own an APC for defense, unfortunately not very concealable. I did used to hang my pin from the periscope though; does that count? http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~ben/tank

How well you're doing on 80 jumps really depends on what you've done in those 80 jumps. In the UK it's a requirement to do some form of RW coaching before you can jump with others. I was still crap after that, but a better form of crap. Have you had any coaching? Formal or informal? Cheers Ben
