  1. I'm can be pretty shy, so if I go somewhere I try and make sure I go with someone else, or at least know that someone I know is going to be there. Everywhere I've been has been pretty friendly so far. -Ben

  6. More drunk than I am now, but it's pretty close. Hello, my name is Ben, and.... -Ben
  7. That's way cool ! I always meant to get something similar, but I'm just too chickenshit. -Ben
  8. I became a total tart when I first moved to the US 3 years ago. Much to my chagrin I didn't get much action at university, but then I didn't have an accent. -Ben
  9. My secret to napping at work is to climb under my desk and touch some computer wires. That way if someone finds me sleeping, i can say i was fixing something and must've got shocked. LMAO! Dude, that's exactly what I used to do before I discovered the light trick. That's too funny. Have now transitioned from napping to playing - "throw the tennis ball at the head of the guy in the dumpster coming down the hall" - pictures to follow... Edited to add picture -Ben
  10. Me too, although I did go to sleep for an hour in my comfy chair. I've discovered that the the motion dector light in my office makes a handy "uh oh, the boss is coming" alarm. -Ben
  11. Go see 'city of god', if you can find it, it's quite violent, funny in places, excellent movie overall. It's about gangs somewhere in Brazil, San Paulo or Rio, can't remember which. -Ben

    Terminator 3

Ok So you have to use your imagination a bit. Oh well. And therein lies the problem -Ben

    Terminator 3

The steering wheels turn by themselves on the cars that GM is developing to drive themselves based on sensors implanted in the roads. All you need is some type of wireless/satellite network connections (similar to OnStar) for a central computer to locate a specific vehicle take over... and steer. Its not that far fetched, and will be possible in the near future. Can't you just wait until the police actually "help" you pull over? no more high speed chases. I totally understand that it's possible to control a car remotely, just like it is pretty much anything you can think of. A central premise of the terminator movies is that humans gave computers too much control over machines. Therefore, I can suspend disbelief enough to believe the t-x can control any electronicly controled device, but not a steering wheel on a crown victoria, it's mechanical. Now, if they were in the experimental GM lab, and it was a concept car that had electronic steering, well that'd be different. -Ben

    Terminator 3

yup bad fiction. please explain how a car turns its own steering wheel? the more silly they get to make a 'cool shot' the more they lose the 'suspension of disbelief' that is fundamental to any good fiction. No matter what the genre, you have to set up the 'rules' of the world in which you are creating. Majic, Force, warp drive, time travel etc... but when you then repeated violate those rules (in most cases for a cool stunt) you are demostrating poor writing skills and bad directing. did you read the label on the drug he took? amazing how the affects 'vanish' instantly.. Okay, so the effects of the drugs wearing off I'll concede to...that was extremely far-fetched. But the cars did NOT turn their own steering wheels. The terminate-her tapped into the police system (because remember, she can control things like Skynet can) and SHE began to control the other cars through her "advanced technology". I'm guessing you weren't really a fan of the first two movies, either, because they have been working toward that ability from the beginning, when they first talked about Skynet taking over the world. If Skynet didn't have the capability to control the machines, how were the machines going to fight a war against humans? Maybe it is a radical plot from the beginning, but it's entertaining, and when you put it all together, it makes sense. She can't turn the steering wheel, since she's not telekinetic. Steering wheels require force to operate, they have no electronic parts. edited to add: I couldn't suspend disbelief enough to believe she was telekinetic. -Ben
  15. Can I vote? Now I'm a permanent resident alien I can vote in some things, just no one can tell me what. -Ben

  17. First jumps were in '92, static line rounds from 2K. Then I had 4 years off due to lack of cash, started again in '96. I count it as 7 years. -Ben

    What is freedom?

Freedom is a state of mind. If you believe your free, you are. Of course, this means it's subjective. -Ben

    Terminator 3?

Yeah, what he said" a piece of shit" Yeah, that works for me. The best parts were Arnold talking in his terminator-dumbshit mode, but other than that it sucked. I thought the ending kinda blowed. If they made it an hour longer and expanded on that ending, then it might have been worth it. I have to agree, but then I also thought T1 was better than T2. -Ben
  20. When is the byron boogie anyway? -Ben
  21. If you jump on Oahu, just remember that there are 3 DZ's on the same airport. It's kinda weird. Anyway I didn't know this and went to the first one, which was very friendly etc.. Only realized when I was under canopy after a ~5K lob from the 206 and saw the king air from DZ #2 take off. Doh! I only had time for one jump. -Ben
