You want it straight up or sugar coated?

In case I land off, I...
CSpenceFLY replied to decompresion's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would learn to fly my canopy and be able to put it where I want it instead of just landing where ever I end up on every landing. Canopy accuracy can save your life. -
Be nice to people cause you never know when you might make the list. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SSWhEuWaRc

For all you know there is nothing wrong with it and he is just trying to screw you. Is there any way to contact some of the people he has done business with?
-
You pull that number out of thin air? It takes more fuel to land with a load of people vs an empty plane. So cutting a deal for not jumping is above what's necessary. YOu pay for the slot - jump or ride. So charging less for riding down is a very decent thing for a DZO to do but doesn't fall under "should". But if this guy is paying "nearly $40" then he's getting charged for gear rental too. I think that's pretty crappy of the DZO. It wasn't cycled, nor does it need to be packed. I ment $15 extra. I'm pretty damned aware for what it costs to operate an airplane.

Gravity Gear shop and other crapy shops?
CSpenceFLY replied to Lok's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If I own a business it is my decision who I do business with. It would be a pain in the ass to have to drive all over town to go pickup your money. I wouldn't do it. Or, I would charge the person for my time to do it. In which case we would be reding in a thread about how this terrible company charged someone extra for using Western Union. -
Pretty sure they are still there.

I told a cop to mind his own business. What happens next?

Disgusting. I hate to break it to you, but trash is trash is trash. And, judging by your statement, I'd say you're all too familiar with 'trailer trash'. So, is Ghetto Trash and acceptable term. I want to stay on the right side of the PC police. -
Him and Ronnie came to one of my boogies in Dublin. It was an honor for me to meet him because although I never made it up to his event it was one of the things that inspired me to start holding my events.

It's August...Anyone else missing the WFFC
CSpenceFLY replied to jaffo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The days of the 3000 to 5000 jumper boogies are over. The specialty aircraft are hard to find and very expensive to ferry. Not saying some kind of reunion boogie couldn't be put together but it will never be like the WFFC again. If done right you would not need a ton of money to put something together. What you would need is participation from all of the small groups in the sport on a volunteer basis. -
That was perhaps me? By spectra, I'm assuming that you're talking about something like 725lb suspension line type stuff. I'm curious as to whether you think the same argument applies to the leash that comes in the box? I'm assuming you're familiar with what comes in the box. We used the leash when testing the adhesive mount provided in box specifically because we were concerned about the implications if the mount failed and it fell off. Our thought process at the time was that in the case of any non-trivial entanglement, the leash would break under a relatively low load, which would make the risk from the leash relatively low. I don't have data on the maximum load required to break that leash, although I have a spare one that I'd be happy to use for destructive testing. After several test jumps and about a 50/50 success rate for the mount failing at deployment, we abandoned the standard adhesive mount in favour of more robust options, which should not require a leash. On the downside, these now mean that in the event of a non-trivial entanglement, the camera will not break away under the entanglement load, so I have to ditch the entire helmet, which requires action on my part and is a bigger falling hazard than the camera alone. Are we missing something? The problem is Joe Blow with 125 jumps has not thought through all of that.

Well, at least they got rid of the worst one. No they didn't

He still doesn't listen.

The people I liked would have nice things to say. The others would say I was an asshole.

Yeh yeh.. Look at how many people have been using them in various sports for quite a while now, point me to a fatality list that's specific to these cameras.. If you're worried about these little things, maybe you shouldn't be skydiving, because it's a DANGEROUS activity and it might kill ya! Bowling anyone? I know you are just trolling but sometimes you should just shut the fuck up. You contribute nothing here.

Says the (fill in the blank) that is posting here. SF

The way these things are mounted and the people using them are the worse thing that has happened to this sport in years. The shade tree engineering that is being done to secure thes things to helmets is going to kill someone. There were years spent teaching people to cleanup the snag points on camera setup only to have this piece of shit to show up on the market.

On a regular basis.

I should have expected that.

Why not. Everyone else is doing it. http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/6882069
