    Agreed. The law should not be against texting and driving, it is unenforceable. The law just be about a penalty if you are in an accident and it can be proven you were texting and driving.

    I think that was their business plan at one time. I think opening the two other DZs is what caused them the most trouble (well, that and fucking the wrong person in Georgia) as it showed their Skyride affiliates that as soon as they had a foothold in an area they would open a DZ.

    Actually- he isn't. I jump with him. and yep-ANDREW!!!! You had to know you would get ripped for your canopy choice as well. haha. So this is actually about him?? I'll leave out the PA and try to be helpful. If he only has 50 jumps and is jumping a 1.3 wing loading under that canopy he is a dumbass, ooops, couldn't do it. When I was a new jumper I thought I was the shit and that me being a pilot meant I had mad skillz. I have some really cool spinal x-rays I can show everyone now. Side note: If you are jumping somewhere that the DZO knows about this and allows it you should be concerned.

    I would recommend a visit to the closest DZ and see what they would require. I would guess they will want you to do a first jump course and probably a level 3 or 4 training jump. Back in '91 they would have probably given you a rig and told you to go jump with 7 friends but it's a new world.

    Something else that should be looked into is if this Fire Rescue unit has ever received a federal grant. That will open up a whole new can of worms. The fire chief might be pissing in his own Cheerios.

    First, all of those guys are more then likely on a salary. So there would be very little direct expense involved in this incident. Second, it didn't take 19 people to get this guy out of a tree. It took maybe 4, 2 if they knew what the hell they were doing. We had a guy do a down wind landing at one of the Mountain Boogies in 21 mph winds. Before it was over with there were 6 police cars, 2 fire trucks and 3 ambulances on the airport, not to mention the dozen or so first responders. How many ambulances do you really need to haul off a guy that is still in one piece? Should you be charged for the people just standing around making it look like a union job? I've seen this happen before and it's a bad idea. If they are going to issue bills for services then they should not get a penny of taxes to support their services.

    I'll start by saying that the mods here do a great job keeping this site under control. Having said that, some of them take themselves way too serious and as I have said before there should either be term limits or an on again off again system to give them a break from their duties. It seems to me some of them don't really enjoy what they are doing and it shows in the way they administer their duties.

    And you would be correct. The British girl in question was a "potential" jumper...as I purposely mentioned. From the wording of the OP I didn't take it that way. I still think it's a good thing. Anyone who would decide not to jump after seeing a video would sue your ass if they got hurt.
