  1. *Bringing a beer to everybody* Exactly the kind of infos I was looking for... Thanks a lot guys! S-P ===========================
  2. Any riggers here has retrofitted Javelin risers with inserts for the cutaway cable? Are there any hints I should know before doing it? My rigger will surely be able to do this but he never did it so I want to make sure there is no problem. Also, I would want to use the metal insert that Mirage use; is it a good idea to mix Javelin risers with Mirage inserts? If there is no problem, where could I find the metal inserts? OK - OK, enough question for now Thanks
  3. OK i can figure it, thanks a lot S-P ===========================
  4. Sorry to interrupt the normal course of the discussion, but I'm curious to know what are dive brakes. S-P ===========================
  5. Yeah... I know but I was wondering if there's a place where it's more common to see it. You know, the kind of secret place where crew dogs can go with a secret sign and a password, and where there are thousands of models of risers, thousands of lonely shoes, thousands of Lightnings in any sizes and any colors, ... 6. OK, a memory game: C-150 C-182 C-205 C-206 Islander Twin-Bonanza Beech-18 Pilatus Porter Caravan Twin Otter CASA Motorised hang glider Schweiser helicopter Balloon There was a thread about it some months ago but can't find it. Anyone? S-P ===========================
  7. There are some freefly tips on the Max Cohn'sGeneration Freefly web site. S-P ===========================
  8. Hi there! Do you guys know where I should look to find used Lightnings? I'm looking for a 143. Someone here knows someone else has one for sale? Any used skydiving equipments dealer specialized in CReW? Thanks for advices. S-P ===========================

    no smoking please

    Hang on! If it would only be for the taste you'll retrieve, it would worth the effort! Believe me, after some weeks everything will begin to have a stronger taste and it's awesome!! Good luck S-P ===========================
  10. Hummm..... As time goes, the difference of skills between jumpers who have been trained with these two methods tend to disapears. Those 2 methods put very much emphasis on freefall skills and neglect a bit the canopy part of the jump. In both cases, the student has to ask questions to instructors, take a lot of time to watch others landing and try (high up there...) to develop canopy skills. To answer your question, maybe for some jumps after getting out of student status the S/L ones would be a bit better as they would have made a bit more jumps, but after 20-30 more jumps (maybe less) for sure there is no difference anymore. So for the swoop, as it's an "advanced" skill which develops more around some hundreds of jumps, it doesn't matter if you have been a S/L student or AFF. Hope it answer your question S-P ===========================
  11. Go see this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=393265#393265 S-P ===========================
  12. And it makes sense: a canopy is designed and built with different parameters (planform, lines trim and lenght, type of lines, type and size of slider, ...) each one dependant of the others, so if you want a canopy that opens and flies well, everything must fit together. Same goes for the container: you want a rig with parts that are made to work together. S-P ===========================
  13. The slider is part of the canopy. S-P ===========================
  14. I believe that is a cargo jet found in another country :) Yep, and I think it is the biggest plane ever made, even bigger than the galaxy. S-P ===========================

    Miniforce

    Looking at it and comparing with the original mini three rings, it brought a question: Considering the fact that the new middle ring is larger (vertical axis) than the hole of the big ring, would it be possible for the miniforce to slide a bit and be at an angle that it wouldn't be vertical so it wouldn't fit throught the big ring? Theoretically, the middle ring of the original system can go through the big ring in any position (well it's a circle so there is no position) but the miniforce add a new variable: the axis of the middle ring. Is that my imagination or would it be an issue - at least in theory-? Any Aerodyne engineers around? Bill Booth? S-P ===========================
  16. Same experience with Icarus: ordered it 29 days ago and it's here. Very nice!
  17. Almost exactly the same method I tried. just 3 more points: -try to do this out of a c-182/206 non cargo and ask the pilot to slow down at the maximum he can safely. -I would suggest you sit on the step (over the wheel) facing the tail so there is less snag points for the pilot chute. -when leaving, try to give the less momentum possible in a way to have less rotation; it will be easier to hold. Enjoy!!!! S-P ===========================

    Merry Chrismas...

    Excellent! Heard many good things about 'em => swoop machine! Have fun!! S-P ===========================

    Merry Chrismas...

    For sure. It's actually the case: the Icarus guys at Lake wales this chrismas (Simon Powell and Bob Burwell) actually got me when they brought demos there. I put about 10 jumps on a Xf2 and was hooked at the very first. S-P ===========================
  20. Thanks everybody for the comments! I'll be more relaxed to try it. By the way, my Xf2 99 just arrived today! I look forward to try it while flying mi GTI, but spring is far far away from now... See ya in the sky... S-P ===========================
  21. What you want is a pilot chute asist: a kind of IAD but the holder of the canopy will have to keep the pilot chute until it's actually extracted from its hand. That way, the lines will always be kept in tension so less chance to wrap around the pilot and passenger. It also helps to do it this way because the canopy will be out of the harness soon so you won't be in terminal velocity for the opening -but the canopy has to be packed to open slowly- so the canopy won't slam you. Other point: the passenger MUST hold harness of the pilot BELOW emergency handles. You want me to explain this one? I succeeded two times out of three tentatives and the two times was with a pilot chute assist. I must mention that one time we have been rolled a bit in the lines, but the fact that the lines were in tension helps very much the situation not to go worse and it unrolled easily. Good luck, have fun and be safe (well, as much as possible S-P ===========================

    Merry Chrismas...

    ...from me to me!!! I really have to tell it: today, Santa Claus just went here with his UPS sleigh to deliver my Crossfire2 99 !!! OOOOOOOOOOOH YEAHHHH !!!! I really feel like a child with a brand new yellow Tonka truck! Guess what will be my sleeping bag tonight.... By the way, there was a thread about delivery times some days ago; mine took exactly 29 days from the first call to the delivery to my door. A big thanks to Rob and all the crew at Icarus Canopies. Now, let's get jump!!!! C Ya! S-P ===========================

    Hilarious commercial

    Something like : " We get used quickly not having to wait" It's a Caravan; don't know what he would do with an old tired C-172... S-P ===========================
