Well, it was gonna happen one day and so it has. I got busted the other day. Almost got off but the cop in charge didn't share the thoughts about the jump as the other two younger cops did. This isn’t something I’m thrilled to post about but need some help. For those of you who have unfortunately been busted and charged in the past, if you wouldn’t mind PM’ing me, I am looking for some info on your experience in court. Looking for things along these lines: - What were you jumping when you were busted (Level of trespassing violation)? - How did the judge react to BASE? Or whatever you told the judge. - First, second or other bust for you? (Convicted busts) - Any previous criminal history that made the BASE bust worst than having a clean record? - What was the outcome? - Any other advice that would be helpful…? I have the same LD finder. Bridge a small light or cell phone to see the reading. Laser the object from the exit point, you can't mis the ground. Just make sure you don't hit a dish or building near the landing area. That will do teh trick! Coco

A laser Ranger Finder is one of the best tools you can buy for BASE when opening new objects. I have a Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport 450 and I just recently used it to open a 246 ft free stander. Basically anything that says “Accurately measures to ±1 yard” will do the trick. Any more that 1 yard and it can make a huge difference when you jump low stuff. From all my research I liked the Bushnell products better along with the Sport over the scout (Sport is cheaper but has a few nice options). Just read up and decide what features you need. But FYI, the backlight is not necessary. If you use it at night. Simply laser the object and then use a light source to see the distance. Antenna light, nearby dim light from street light or something (don't need much), or even your cell phone light to see the measurement. Scout or Sport 450 will be your best bet. Don’t get a golf pin seeker. I did first to save money and I returned it. Lol. Anyone going to be there from Sept. 14th-18th? I was planning to go to the Go Fast Games at the gorge but a problem came up 2 days ago that is not fixable so the games will no be held this year per Jimmy in an email I got earlier today. The Go Fast owner will be releasing a statement soon as to what the problem was. I'm going to fly out the 13th and fly back the 19th so I can get a solid 5 days of jumping? Anyone going or any locals plan on being around? Was going to the gorge alone (but some friends from north of me were gonna be there) so I'll be going to SV alone. Is it just me or does anyone else agree that in today’s day and age people need to stop modifying skydiving gear into BASE gear. Back in the day, yes! It was a necessity because there were no companies out there making BASE specific gear. But with all the different companies and all the different BASE specific canopies out there I see no need to modify gear. If you can’t afford new, buy used. If you can’t afford used or don’t want used, save up your money. I think people are looking at this issue similar to something like buying cloths and not wanting or feeling that it is necessary to buy the “name brand.” I think its bad news to feel that you can take something from another sport and “make something suitable for base.” Personally, I don’t want “suitable.” I want specific. Anyone else agree? Coco
