  1. I have always dated men older than me. The oldest was probably my ex husband who was 38 when we met and I was 25. I think it all depends on the people involved and the maturity levels too. I have never dated a guy younger than me. My boyfriend now is a little over 2 years older than me. By far closer in age to me than anyone else since high school. I like our age difference, we have fun together and that is all that matters. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  2. And she is a cutie! You are right Tim would be so proud. I remember when Paige was just a peanut at the Halloween boogie. They do grow fast don't they? Thanks for the picture, I have wondered how you all have been doing. Dakota, (mine and Randy Goken's) daughter will be 5 this year also. I try to keep Randy's memory and spirit alive for Dakota so I know how hard it can be sometimes. I hope things are going well for you and your family Melissa. Sending warm vibes your way. 3. My first two jumps were out of the Desert Express twin otter in Cal City, then I jumped out of a Queen Air and a King Air at Air Adventures in Taft. If I knew then how scary Queen Airs were I probably would have stuck with the otter. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  4. No shit there I was about 3 miles from the Northridge earthquake which was a 6.9. The aftershocks alone were in the 5-6 range. I literally thought the big one was World War 3 going off in my backyard. I am glad not to live in Earthquake territory anymore. Se La Vie California, I am glad to not have to deal with all the gangs, fires, landslides, earthquakes, etc. etc. etc. Too scary for me Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." 5. Thanks Iwan! Hey so the TRV17 doesn't have any downfalls? I just want something that will WORK and work well and be compatable with a Cameye2. We have all Digital MiniDV, they don't want us doing a whole lot of special effects, etc. Maybe a fader would be nice or some way to transition to another location. Thanks for the advice Iwan! How is Cali? Say Hi to Geno and Chop Chop and Plaything for me. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  6. So I am wondering if camera is maybe not for me. After having my last set of equipment stolen, I have decided to start over in the world of video. So far, I have run into some issues. First off I bought a JVC as a replacement for my old Sony and I guess that was a mistake since everyone seems to fly Sony. I bought all the lenses and filters for the JVC, had to purchase some new long life batteries and chargers for it, etc. After all that when assembling and putting my helmet together, I come to find there is no LANC port on my JVC for my Cameye and well, this was not a good thing. I am probably going to have my hands full enough with the Cameye let alone without it. So I have broken down and decided to get a Sony. I have done some research at the specs and prices and such and I like the TRV series. However, I have no idea which is better than the rest. I have heard to stay away from the TRV19, the TRV22 looks the best to me, however, they are more rare to find it seems. I have seen a lot of TRV33's on Ebay for a reasonable price but I can not find any literature on whether there is a LANC port or not. Does anyone know? Also, I have read that the TRV33's are similar to the 22's, just that they have a little better picture quality (resolution or some fancy word for it) and I have read that the TRV33 is not as good at filming in darker conditions (something about a 7 Lux to 0 lux in night time conditions) ??? Can someone explain? Has anyone had any bad experiences with this? Does it even matter, I mean how often do we film at night? WHat do you all think of the TRV33 vs. the TRV20 or TRV22? Also, I guess I will need some type of adapter to let me screw all of my JVC lenses and filters into my new Sony. Since I think the lens diameters will vary, does anyone know a good place to buy one of these? Last but not least, I bought a tongue switch from Conceptusinc and it said it was compatable with the Canon Rebel still cameras. I have the Canon Rebel EOS 2000 model and the prong on my tongue switch does not fit in the hole on my Rebel but it does fit on my friend's Canon Rebel. Aaaargh! Does anyone on this website have more of a clue than me? If so please help. Thanks and blue skies. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  7. I definitely think people should live together for a significant duration of time before they get married or at least spend a lot of time together in a realistic living together situation. You may find out a lot of things about your significant other which may shock you, change your opinion of them, get on your nerves, etc. Why make it a surprise after you have already committed to them on paper? By living together before hand you will have a good idea what you are getting in to. Are they clean? Is that a big deal to you? Do they help with the house chores and the cooking? Or do they expect you to do it all? Are you compatable? I had only known my ex-husband a short time before we got married and we had not spent that much time living together. By the time we were married it was too late to realize that he would leave his toothpaste stuck to the sink every morning, never made the bed, left clothes on the floor all the time and expected me to do all the housework, cooking and dishes. It became very frustrating to me on a daily basis which put strain on the marriage. This does not mean that we could not have remained very good friends but living together definitely adds a new element to a relationship. I think if I had lived with him for a longer duration before hand I would have known more and well ... I will just leave it at that. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." 8. I may end up going back to Hawaii for the winter beginning in mid-October but that is not a definite yet. I still have a home over there that I hope to get back to at least until I sell it. I will keep you in mind and send you a PM when I know for sure but I imagine I will definitely be over there sometime between October and November of this year. Blue Skies. 9. Hey Uncle Jimbo: Just read this post and had to add ... Sammy was one fun dude. We had some very fun times together and I will never forget that "dumbass" as others have referred to him. Even though he was a dumbass though he was someone who really influenced me, inside and outside of this sport. Sammy and I spent every day together and lived together for a few months when he was in California. We both worked full time at Monterey Bay together too so I definitely got my share of "Sammy Time". He got me recurrent after a 3 year break from jumping. We were both crazy together and had so much fun. At the same time he was just a "poor little boy", he was also and "old asshole". I still remember how he thought I was crazy for eating my cold spaghetti in the morning for breakfast, while his daily breakfast consisted of iced oatmeal cookies and Mountain Dew. That was all Sammy needed was more Mountain Dew. I used to tell him that we needed to get him on a Mountain Dew commercial and a sponsorship with all the Dew that guy drank. He always had the funniest stories about being a green beret, too. I remember this one that still sticks in my mind about a guy he commanded in the Army. One day they were out in the middle of some Cambodian jungle and this not so bright guy asks Sammy: "Searge ... when a compass points Norf, How do it know?" I can still hear Sammy telling the story. I remember the fun times we had in Frisco hanging out with Glenn and Johnny Luv and all the cool things we did in addition to all the cool things Sammy taught me in skydiving when I was just a newbie. On my 22nd jump he got someone to shoot video and planned out a spectacular 8 way at sunset over Hollister. I have quite a bit of video of us skydiving together on my earlier jumps and also have some tapes he left behind at my house: some of his favorite music and some VHS of him in the tunnel at Fort Bragg when he trained with the Knights. I remember when he had a pilot chute in tow and the dumbass tried to yank his bridle out at 1800 feet and missed, rolled over and got it out at about 700 feet. I also remember watching his first head down and him commenting on how he looked like a "monkey fucking a football". He was one hell of a skydiver (the best skydiver he knew) as he put it and quite "insane in the membrane" too. Those who knew Sammy knew how special he was even though he at times was a dumbass. He is definitely missed and I for one was very sad to learn that he had passed on. Blue skies Sammy. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  10. LOL! That shit is funny and I am just reading the replies to this post and they are getting jucier. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  11. With my boyfriend anyway, my vote goes to SPANKER. My day feels empty if I don't get to spank my hunny at least once. I think we both like to be the spanker because it is more of a fun challenge that way . To see the shock and Grrrrrr, like you got me is priceless When two individuals in a couple get that hee hee gratification out of spanking the other's booty, it is fun because you are always searching for that golden moment of opportunity for one nice WHACK! People think we are weird but oh well. When you get the WHACK, it is like DAMN, kind of like a game of dodgeball. We are both riggers and riggers are extra vulnerable to the Whack. We tend to get very mentally focused on things and we bend over a lot. Speaking for myself, I like to be the one to do the spanking because it is fun. but I act like I mind it more than I do when my hunny spanks me Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." 12. OOOOOOH! Look at that sweet itty bitty picture of IWAN. Sooooooo sweet ... Wish I could be in Elsinore skydiving with Iwan and Geno ... Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  13. Sorry Slug, Tall women Rule. Okay you can carry on Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

  15. Thanks I will try what removing the batteries again and waiting two minutes. Hopefully that will do the trick. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  16. Being too heavy or big IS a safety issue. For one, the harness has to fit and it should fit comfortably. Number two, in my experience as an AFF instructor when people are too large for their harness, finding their emergency handles can become a problem as well as reaching across their chest to pull either of them. I have had to tell students that they could not jump AFF because of the safety issue of being able to reach their handles. My second concern is that, I don't know how large the reserve canopies are at every other DZ, but our student gear holds Manta 288 mains and PD 253 reserves. Someone weighing 280 pounds who might have to use our student reserve without any canopy experience is wingloading the canopy more than a student should. My last concern is that I have seen video of AFF jumps where instructors have tried taking a 300 pound student. They were the largest instructors, very skilled and wearing lots of weight. When it came time for that student to be released in freefall on their Cat C skydive, it was a real problem. I have met 280 pound anvils who reach speeds of 207 mph on their bellies so they are out there... Someone taught them how to skydive. As a 125 pound AFF instructor, I could never hang (unfortunately) and have had to make my personal limit 220 pounds and that is if they are proportional and I am wearing all the weight I have in my weight vest. 17. By the way, if you want to get an in depth explanation of the performance characteristics of both the Sabre and the Spectre, I would recommend visiting the PD website, should be www.performancedesigns.com. On that website PD does a pretty good job at explaining and comparing the different types of canopies and their recommendations for your weight and experience level. Also, it used to be for about $20 they will mail you a canopy that you can hook up to a compatable container if you ask them to demo it and you can try different canopies to see which one you like best. The staff over at PD is very helpful and I think they can lead you in a good direction. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  18. Hmmmm... Not sure. I know I wasn't consciously thinking to wait 120 seconds because didn't know I was supposed to. It may have taken me that long to change them but I think I actually did it rather quickly. Is that a bad thing? Does that do something to the unit? Thanks to everyone for the responses... those of you who have had good experiences with the manufacturer, do you happen to have a contact number or best person to reach? Thanks in advance. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  19. Well, that is never a problem. We have some jumpers who don't drink at all and don't believe in bringing alcohol for firsts and reserve rides, etc. They are rad because they bring things that sustain us through a busy jump day like RED BULLS and GOFASTS and ADRENALINE and MOUNTAIN DEW energy drinks. They also bring fruit and food ... Our skydivers rock; feel the LOVE
  20. In my personal opinion ... Sabre 1's SUCK! Spectres are awesome! I put about 500 jumps on my Spectre and I had one smacky opening because I deserved it and probably rushed the pack job but all the others were soft, beautiful and on heading. I put about 5 jumps on a Sabre 1 and that was literally 4 jumps too many because 4 out of 5 of them slammed me, one to the point that I saw stars. I have flewn the Sabre2 and like it more than the Sabre but if I was a novice canopy pilot I would choose the Spectre. If I was an experienced canopy pilot I would buy the Stiletto. I love my Stiletto Edited to give another view and be fair: I should add that my SO has a Sabre 1, he is a gear hound, master rigger and probably jumped everything under the sun. He LOVES his Sabre1 and says it opens beautifullly for him all the time because he knows how to pack it. I guess it depends on the particular canopy you get and if you know how to treat it, but I guess the Sabre just didn't like me as much as my Spectre or my Stiletto. 21. Are there any expert ProTrackers out there who can tell me how to fix my unruly dytter? Initially I thought my batteries were wearing out so I replaced them. I set my beep altitudes as normal (for me) at 7,000 ft., 5,500 feet and 2,500 feet. The same as before I replaced my batteries, I do not get my beep signal at 1,000 feet, sometimes I get it at 5,000 feet and it refuses to beep at the correct altitudes. Sometimes it will just go bezerk and start flatlining loudly and out of the blue while I am on the ground with it or on the climb to altitude. Anyone had any problems like this and if so, how do I fix it? I whipped out my manual and thought I had fixed it but I didn't. Help? Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." 22. Way to go Tink!!! I know the feeling, I got my ticket last year and have about 100 repacks and I finally had my first save about two weeks ago. It kinda sucked just waiting and waiting like, is anyone ever going to use my reserve? And it was nice just to know that all we do actually comes through and pays off once in a while. I had forgotten that custom of buying a bottle for your rigger and my friend/student who used my reserve pack job promptly brought me my first bottle of CaboWabo. Whooo hoooo!!! I think from now on when someone uses my repack and supplies me with a bottle, I am going to have them sign and date a pull up cord and wrap it around the neck of the bottle so when I drink it with all my friends we can drink in honor of that person. Congrats and keep up the good work!!! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  23. Vinnie!!! Getting down with his bad self. Look at you with all the beautiful ladies!!! I may be coming down to Florida with Dakota the week of May 8th. I will look you up if you are going to be anywhere near Orlando, Tampa, St. Petes! Hope to see you Vinnie, maybe we can go catch a burger and a margarita in Margaritaville! Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  24. I am the only one so far who voted for Cabo Wabo. The choice I was looking for wasn't up there. So, I thought maybe Vinnie and I (being that we are Scorps and such) would perhaps be on the same wavelength and perhaps Vinnie was drinking some Cabo Wabo. I was just blessed with a bottle from a beloved jumper who was the first person to air out one of my reserve repacks So my question to Vinnie is this: What in the heck was it that you brought over that one night to Laura's? All I remember about it was it was in some weird fancy bottle and when you removed the cork you could smell it from across the room. It was the kind of stuff you could take a whiff of and have a BAC of 1.5 Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
  25. Thanks LtDiver, Yes, I think it was one of Quade's posts that I was reading. He had some pretty decent things to say about it. That feedback was helpful. Since you own one, you will probably know the answer to my next questions: 1) The LAN port thing ... is that easy to access because there is one out there that is supposed to be a pain in the butt 2) Is it easy to mount/dismount onto a quick release? Do you have a preference in how you mounted yours? 3) How about accessing the tape? Have you run into any problems? I for sure would get the 22 vs. the 19. Thanks for all the info. Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."
