I HATE WORK...
-
Oh, you sellout! So you're done with the rain and hop n' pops huh? Well, we'll have to get together before you take off, if you decide to go.
-
They're both BlackJack 240's

Just for fun, thought I'd post a couple pretty cool pics. It's the Kmonster and me.
-
Hehe...nice!

I'm trying to remember how we set up for the big ones. I think we rigged the top ascender to just the harness with no foot straps. It was close enough that you could reach it without fully extending your arm while hanging off of it. The bottom ascender was clipped to a pair of aiders and also connected to your harness with a daisy chain. You basically stand up on the aiders and move the top ascender all the way up. You hang on the top ascender and move the bottom ascender up. Repeat many many times. The trick to jugging on dynamic line is to be as smooth as possible. If you bounce, you won't get anywhere. The dynamic rope will rob you of the energy you're putting into it. SMOOTH. Find your pace and go for it. Rest too so you don't flame your arms out. Petzl did have a devive that used a pulley to give you a mechanical advantage while ascending.

PM sent

Absolutely. I've done over 700 feet. Petzl has a devide we tried that makes it much easier. It's been awhile though, so I'll need to dig around for some more info on it. What are you up to?
-
Oh, nice! What a treat to watch. Thank you.
-
Then will you explain how the rig was set up and how this is different from what BR recommends?
-
Interesting. I did a rough PLF onto ground that was covered with volleyball size boulders (Streambed). Without the Dainese, I'm pretty sure I would have sustained some nasty injuries. I wear body armor because I feel that you're less likely to be injured landing on rough terrain if you PLF and let the armor take it. At almost $400, I'm not too inclined to replace the armor after one landing like this. Do you think it's necessary? You obviously know more about this equipment than I do, so I value your opinion.
-
Absolutely. However, the PC towed for a long time. This rig was configured properly, according to BR's recommendations. If I do a go and throw, my pins will pop as soon as the PC inflates. After that, there's nothing to prevent the canopy from being pulled to linestretch. With BASE gear, you shouldn't have to take a full second delay to ensure you don't have a PC in tow. You should be able to take whatever delay you want and expect the container to open immediately. I think a better option, if you insist on controlling the multi, would be to put a 1 1/4" rubberband, cut in half lengthwise, around the s-folded multi bridle. Only one wrap. This will not prevent the PC from extracting the canopy, but it'll keep the multi bridle together until the inflated PC pulls it out. Keep in mind, I don't jump BR gear or use a multi.

What type of impact would you be expecting to replace the spine protector afterwards?
-
I am jumping the Dainese Wave2 Jacket. I've pounded in pretty good wearing it and I've walked away from landings I probably wouldn't have otherwise. Things I like: *Articulating aluminum honeycome spine protection. *Plastic chest, shoulder, elbow, and forearm protection. *Padded upper arm, ribcage, and shoulder blade protection. *Mesh construction that's cool when it's warm out. Things I don't like so much: *Shoulder cups restrict flexibility a little bit. I don't have a problem reaching toggles, but I imagine some jumpers won't like this slight restriction. I know at least one jumper has removed his but I like the protection so for now, I'm leaving mine on. *$390 price tag. So, what armor are you jumping and what do you think about it?
-
It played right after the snowboarding segment. Damn!
-
Dude just buy it. Those Aussie bucks aren't real bucks anyway right?

Looks like 6:30 PM here in Seattle.

KidWicked... Who are you? Feel free to PM me... or feel free to remain anonymous.

It's meant to be ironic. Why are we even discussing this?
-
I understand exactly what Nick means.

Think we could make a little deal?

From NPS morning report March 22, 2000: BASE Jumping Story – CBS’s “Sixty Minutes II” will run a story on BASE jumping in the parks tonight. It will run from 10 to 11 p.m. on the East Coast. The story includes interviews with Yosemite staff and deputy director Denis Galvin Does anyone have a copy of this story?

Thanks Karen. I admire your courage to face the flames that come with posting sensitive information here. I know there are BASE jumpers that will be jumping the Multi off objects all over the globe tonight. This is a good step toward making sure they're as safe as possible. Again, thank you.
