What practical use is there for a semi automatic pistol? This gun'o'phobes thing is hillarious, you gun crazy people seem to be the ones with the phobia, why else do you have a gun? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

There was a couple of incidents of a cypres 2's activating when they were not supposed to. My friend fell victim to one of these incidents under a tandem at 1000'. There is a list of potentially faulty units in a service bulletin. The faulty sensors are made by a swiss company. These sensors are used buy Vigil as well as airtec. I'm not sure exactly where the bulliten can be found but the airtec website would be the best place to start. Optima and altitrack. The optima has a variable sound pitch to allow you to adjust the sound to your preference, landing pattern alarms for accurate landings and it can have a LED attachment for later on when you might do camera jumps(of if you go deaf). The altirack logs jumps, is easy to read and you can use polarised sunglases when using them. I am not a fan of digital readout altis. The reason I don't like them is; to differentiate between 5900' and 5100' takes slightly longer than a quick glance at a needle. but that is just my opinion. That sounds potentially dangerous to me, i am a rookie reserve packer but this is one thng that was made clear to me. full length finger traps on all closing loops! sounds like someone needs a talking to. Kind of, the bridle splits in two and one piece goes either side. there is nothing connecting each side, so there are two independent straps of webbing with 3 grommets in each one for each riser, nothing in between. Unsure how the spider slider works, not an rds though as nothing actually detaches. the bridle comes down through a grommet in the tail of the canopy and is attached to the webbing that the slider grommets are punched through. there is no slider as such just the grommets and the drag of the pilot chute seems to be the thing that slows the openings down.. They do land good, they even swoop. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

My Continuous Struggle To Arch Properly
rhys replied to anthonyfellows's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You should be good at freeflying later on if that is any bonus? I agree if your instructors can't help you, do not hesitate to try other instructors. Some instructors are great flyers but terrible teachers and vice versa. My fiancee had trouble in AFF and was told to try something else by her first instructor, she found a different instructor and passed on the first attemt, the stage she had been trying and failing previously for 4 attempts. She now has over 5000 jumps a world record, and is competing in the world championships. I cannot say this is the case for you but you should consider the possibility. Hang in there and keep smiling. I have seen the US team practicing with their new canopies. Custom built Crossbraced 7 cells, made by NZaerosports, they are on 105's and 98's etc but are looking at downsizing to 88's. The pilot chute bridle comes down with the slider. they are very happy with them and are hoping these canopies will be available for all in the short future. Now that is some next level stuff. well done guys. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

The big deal from where I am standing is the people that keep saying "it is only tracking" or "we were doing that years ago". I have done 'atmo' jumps and I have also done tracking jumps. they are both fun and they are also similar, but they are not the same. Tracking cannot be done feet first 'atmo' can. and it looks awesome! If you sink out on a tracking jump it is difficult to get back to the formation, in atmo it is not, you 'track' to gain height, then slip easily back to the formation. In atmo, formations very similar to freefly formations can be performed. head up, head down and it is typically/ideally performed at head level with all other participants. Tracking jumps are not usually performed like this. They are about the same as freestyle v's freefly. Similar but not the same. I purchased a para concepts slider system for my JVX 84, i put around 200 jumps on it, all to terminal with only one badish opening but I put that down to the packjob. I swapped the slider for a canopy (not a bad swap eh) while my JVX is away and the new owner has it on a 89 JVX, he loves it. All his jumps to terminal and with camera gear.all have been great openings. I have seen different RDS systems with different rings etc. but i think the para concepts one has the best workmanship I have seen to date . I will be purchasing another RDS in the not so distant future when my new JVX arrives, it will most likely be a paraconcepts slider. 18 MPH is only about 15 knots. My cut off is around 23 knots depending on the fluctuations in velocity between gusts. Those sorts of decisions are best left to the DZSO/CI not individuals. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Hi, I have well over 2000 camera jumps and don't feel I need to have a cutaway system. I am pretty sure I can pitch stable. I am however going to the world championships later this year in France. In France it is mandatory to have a cutaway system on your camera helmet. There maybe a scenario or two that could require the use of a cutaway system on a camera helmet, dislocated shoulder or similar come to mind? I also carry a hook knife and have nylon screws in my ring-sight mount. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Hi, I really like that design, indistrial looking bolts. Couldn't really tell but it looks like you swaged the cutaway cable with plastic cable ties? I'll build something similar to that, I am sure there is a much simpler method like a different kind of snowboard clip for instance, but they tend to be too prone to 'undesired activation'. Good Call, I am jumping a 'Rawa' side mount camera. It has two ladders on the chin cup.

I have seen a thread on here before showing various camera helmet cutaway systems but can't seem to find it with the search function. I have to install a cutaway to my camera helmet in order to jump it in France, I have access to rigging equipment and materials and want to make a simple effective system. If you have a good system please post photos, I have seen various systems before and some seem too messy/snaggy, others were too complex. If you manage to find the thread already here somewhere please make a link. Thanks for any help, Rhys "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Have you tried calling them? I am waiting on my 2nd JVX too and it seems they are quite busy at the moment. I assure you it is worth the wait. I know how you feel, I want mine now too. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I can understand that, and i can understand why the US people would not like mexico to merge either, but if it means more money for the Rockerfellers/ world bank etc. then it will most likely happen. those super high rollers unfortunately have more clout than any govornment on this planet does. they own govornments, hold them by the balls and twist them to make more money. Hey there, I have just learned about this supposed union of north america. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuBo4E77ZXo Anyone schooled up on this? I would tend to believe it at this stage. It is consistent with my beliefs of the ethics and motives of the powers in charge, but haven't researched it enough yet to know. Hi, We did some experimenting with different lenses here on the CX7. We do handcam as well as outside camera. We put a black eyeX on a cx7 and foud it was wayyyy too wide with extreme vignetting. a Kenko 0.43 was equally as wide as a Black eye 0.25X on a pc350! That tells me that a ).5 will be more than sufficient for you to begin with and it will be less expensive to get a higher quality lens. I'm looking forward to running a CX7 or similar, But i keep seeing more different brands and models coming out with this type of camera. That is exactly what we will do! For me the swoop is a major part of a skydive, $13.50 jump tickets is the only reason we chose Lodi to do our training, now we will choose somewhere else. I can Imagine we will not be the only people that will decide not to jump there because of this rule. It is a real shame, I can understand the frustrations of Bill and kathy, but i am sure many will decide not to jump there. 'Almost' all the jumpers I know that have more than 1000 jumps, are making high performance turns for landing. I cvan imagine there are many Lodi locals that are most frustrated with this ruling. Did they ever try having a separate controlled landing area for swooping? not in all cases by for the most part when someone hooks themselves in, they have been putting themselves in the corner consistantly prior to the accident, these people should be taken aside or grounded untill they learn to respect what theya are doing. Swooping need not be scary to watch but all too often it is. This is a real shame but I am quite happy to pay $5 more per jump elsewher in order to swoop my JVX. Hi, I did contact the DZO, and the initial response i recieved was; Which was not quite clear enough, so I asked if I start my turn from above 500 feet and it lasted longer that 5 seconds would that be O.k.?\ they answered; So I guess swooping is all over at lodi? some have said to me that it could not be, there are too many 'shithot' skydivers there to ban high performance turns, they do $5 hop 'n' pops, swooping is the #1 reason people do hop 'n' pops nowdays. Has anyone been there recently? is it just a storm in a teacup, or do I go and pay a little more per jump elesewhere for our 300 jump tickets we want to purchase and get to use my JVX for the purpose it was intended for? any info is appreciated thanks, Rhys "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

That is not going to be the case for very long, ask an electrician why the price of copper wire ghas more than doubles over the last few years? ask why the australian mining industry is booming? why? Because china is developing......... fast. some in china get paid less than $2 per day. what will the GDP of china be in 10 years????? That is the question, the current trends would indicate something quite different to the current standings.
