  1. According to the SIM 200 is the requirement and within past 18 months is a recommendation. http://sim.uspa.org/#1=1|2=7|3=79|page=242
  2. Could this also happen. I'm sure this guy deployed in the correct flight mode, more likely caused by a small canopy having a short lineset. Off topic: do any USPA dropzones enforce the recommendation to have 200 jumps within the last 18 months to start wingsuiting? Under the BPA it's a requirement, which if not met you need 500.
  3. His canopy collapsed, which means it stopped creating lift, so you just drop to the ground. That's why even PLF can't prevent injury. I believe PLF was useful when landing rounds to avoid broken legs, but with squares having high air speeds an therefore high ground speeds downwind or in low/nil wind you're probably better off sliding the landing, unless you're sinking steeply in deep breaks then PLF is probably the best option.
  4. Was the cutaway necessary? What had happened/ what was wrong with the main?
  5. What aircraft and altitude did you jump from? I know there was a close up of someone's alti but I couldn't read it. The one with the rear ramp looked awesome, like a C-130.
  6. Apart from a full face helmet. Thanks BPA. What's your opinion on that by the way? I saw in the STC minutes from back in 2008 that someone suggested changing the requirement from a B license to only a 50 jump minimum, but the proposal was not carried, 6-6.
  7. Do they not have separate non-student rental rigs? Maybe it depends on the dropzone, but would relatively new student gear not be freefly friendly these days? I saw inside video of my level 2 which I funnelled and the container moved around quite a lot. They use SWS fire student containers.
  8. I didn't imagine that freefall students attempting or performing freeflying positions was a thing that would actually happen, how do you know that it does? I've only heard a very brief passing mention on radio skydive UK of a presumably very experienced tunnel flyer doing it on their consols. What would the AFFIs say to the student if they tried it on the AFF levels or coached jumps (not sure how it works in CSPA). In both cases, whether the student fails or has the skills. I've been considering it but I have no idea how hard FF positions really are. In BPA AFF you don't even do barrel rolls or floater exits.
  9. Interesting, in the UK it's 10 consols (consolidation jumps) after AFF level 8 hop n pop to get your A license if you're an AFF student, which is only for solo jumps. For group jumps with non coach or instructor rated skydivers you need your FS1 grade (formation skydiving). Do you have anything like that in USPA in terms of grades for different disciplines like FS, FF, CP, WS, sky surfing etc?
  10. Expensive...looks to be about US$2000 for a new triathlon. Maybe not as expensive as PD or Icarus canopies though.
  11. Almost thought those were real companies. pmsl
  12. It's called a snivel just FYI. Made me laugh every time you called it a snuffle.
  13. Bill Booth posts on here? I didn't know that, that's awesome. What was the jump plane and altitude AGL? From the video it looked like about a 40 second delay but it wasn't clear as there was a bit of editing. What was deployment altitude AGL? Did you know this person? Video of Bill's Everest skydive if you're interested/haven't seen it before.
  14. I can't help with your question but this has slightly put me off getting an altitrack. Do you use the e-logbook features? If so how does that work/ has that aspect been good quality?
  15. Where in the UK can you get an hour of coached tunnel time fro £350?
  16. Yes I saw that, someone who made a thread about it said that current production and all future orders aren't affected by that. Also I didn't know XD was owned by Jack, that's interesting.
  17. No way, the shop at Dunkeswell? I don't know if you've seen but it's currently listed at £1750, so £400 more. Did you have to go down there to get measured and make the order or did you just do it all online? What do you mean it was a similar situation, did you get it for less than advertised?
  18. Seems a little low for the container. Is it a vortex ii or iii (I know, they dropped the numbering system) and with or without all the options? Where did you get that price from?
  19. Oh right that's embarrassing, I did look it up and thought it could be that but not many useful results, I thought it could just refer to the standard throw out handle.
  20. I mean I'm just a 1 jump noob at skydiving and am not very current because of weather. I was going to say that the BBOC student AFF handle would most likely be whatever handle AFF student rigs have at your DZ but I realized that it depends the seller. My DZ has PVC tube handles on student rigs but I have seen a few AFF videos where the student has a hackey. I don't know anything about skydiving at other drop zones or different countries. Could be that hackies for students is pretty common in other parts of the world for all I know. Were you an AFF student or SL/IAD?
  21. Oh ye sorry lol I forgot to mention that Dunks is my home DZ, I hope do do all my AFF/consols there but I've only been able to do one jump due to weather, hopefully it gets better when they re-open. I was just wondering about EU but outside of UK. Thanks anyway though. Where did you go as a student? Somewhere up north? You're definitely a long way from any of the drop zones down south that I've heard of when looking at other options, even Langar in Notts.
