You're a tunnel flying whuffo? Not that's bad, even if your profile is up to date you're still a better flyer than me. Having leg problems and difficulty/confusion when trying to side slide. /thread_derailed

So were the outside shots done as a 4 way? (because some of the angles would show the camera flyer in the shot, although I suppose he could be removed in post?)

Help convincing my wife that jumping isnt a death wish
radical_flyer replied to Ploy's topic in Safety and Training
I wouldn't think that ADD and skydiving is a good combination. An AAD, however... -
http://www.dzsports.co.uk/rig-hire-1434-p.asp The amout of time you're asking for might possibly be pushing it. I would recommend you contact them yourself to see if that's possible because I don't know if that's something that they would consider doing or not. They're based in Hinton, if that's of any use to you.

Like this? I think it shows at least some of what you're talking about. Sorry about the video length. The music also, if it's not your thing - not mine either. I have some experience of bad landings - high flares, late flares, and a particularly unpleasant and scary downwind in which I fell on my face (not literally, possibly could have been worse - wasn't hurt at all) - apparently you can't change your pattern if the wind changes.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't been able to find any isopropanol but after rubbing the detergent in with a brush and another wash cycle, most of it's gone, what's left isn't that noticeable.

Maybe you're not his type? -
tips for a new AFF student
radical_flyer replied to awdordie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Caught up with him or he caught up with you? Because unless you'd done some tunnel time you wouldn't have known about fast fall at that stage. Or maybe you were already a sky god by then so that was nothing. I mean I haven't even done any coached jumps yet and I'm just a noob but surely he must have done slowfall. Disclaimer: I suck and I don't think I'm special, I'm just wondering how you managed to catch up. -
It's mostly black and red with green grips and butt pads. Wouldn't want the colours to bleed either. The label says polyester/cotton cold wash only.

Good advice. I got my brand new deepseed FF suit a bit dirty from a couple of bad landings. Flare timing is a bit of an issue, still having problems with that - my last one was too early again and it was a downwind (have to stick to the pattern even if it changes). Went down on my front, although it didn't hurt at all. There's a bit of staining I don't know how to remove, worried about damaging or shrinking it with a hot/warm wash.

what happened to the passenger? Did they have an AAD? -
A lot of good points there. I don't think anything short of deregulation will change that so it's pointless to argue, but my position on it has been changed. I think there should be some exceptions, like if you're doing solo FS, or with others (with FS1) as long as it's not fogging conditions, with some DZ discretion. Presumably specifying allowable helmet models is not viable (I think the kiss has buttons on the side to open the visor). They always send up load one to check the upper winds before manifesting students, they could also check for fogging conditions. I didn't realise it could result in a situation in which having CH2 would be beneficial. My landing accuracy hasn't been very good. Last time I had a shit downwind landing (because you have to follow the pattern regardless) What about JM1, can you see how that makes a difference? If your visor is fogged up you can't check the spot anyway (dos one spot with visor up or down? I can't remember). In 2008 STC had a proposal to change it to 50 jump minimum only. I don't imagine it's been discussed since.

I agree with this, it's just a damn shame the BPA says you need a B license to jump a full face. What a joke, can't make your own decisions, even though there are plenty of full faces with good visibility. Including rig? Do they even let you if you're a student over there?

New USPA BSR banning wingsuit fly-bus

Poll is perfectly clear. The responses relate to your opinion of wingsuiters doing fly-bys, not about the BSR. -

No AAD? -
Harsh. Maybe he came here from the recent forum discussions at the bottom of the page? Still why do you take such offence anyway? He has a point, an hour of tunnel is (just guessing) like 30 jumps (without kit hire or coaching). I'm broke af but I really want to learn FF in the tunnel but I want FS1 first. I couldn't imagine learning in the sky myself but it's clearly worked for these "old-timers".

That looks awesome, where did you do it? I would guess that's a king air you're jumping out of but it's hard to tell.

How do I become a tunnel instructor/ progress
radical_flyer replied to NicolaM's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't know how it works but I believe you'll have to drop 6k for a basic spotter course. Someone who knows can correct me if I'm wrong, I think I remember that from an episode of radio skydive UK. On tunnelinstructor.co.uk/course-material they have some good videos for class A and class B spotting. -
No, they only flew out, the video is reversed to make it look like they flew in. At least I think that's what happened.

He's from UK not USA. I don't understand why it's called taxi-flying anyway, nor why it's disparaging. At airkix (ifly UK) I think they call it a high flyer. -
With booties? Also do you get a better glide ratio in a tracking suit?
