  1. I should be jumping... I should be packing... I should be taking a rigging course... I should be working on my sit... I should be hanging out at the DZ... I should be taking a canopy class... I should be getting a coach rating... I am sitting at my desk pretending to be working, I am definately not doing what I SHOULD be doing! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  2. What is the BEnchmade 5 and where do you get it? I have a benchmade in my pocket at all times and I love it. I didn't know that they made a hook knife. I would most definately buy one. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  3. Where can we get E-thread? Para-gear? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  4. THere are a number of threads regarding this topic.... I made my own jumpsuit and I used a poly-cotton blend that is known for making trousers. It is nice and I find that it works well. I used straight stitches with regular thread. I double stitched wherever I could. It is holding up well at 70 jumps or so, but I don't think it will last forever. But I don't see the end anywhere near, and I will have better knowledge for building the next suit. The cuffs, colar, zipper (all of the complicated parts) are holding well. If you can get your hands on a serging machine that would be nice to keep the fabric from fraying. Other wise, there is a adhesive product that you can use on the cut material that helps keep it from fraying. Let me know how it turns out! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  5. Any ideas for fun exits/skydives for 2? My buddy and I have been jumping together and we freefly, but we are looking to do some fun stuff other than the normal (H.G., flower, train, etc) exits. We did a tube that was AWESOME...any fun ideas out there? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  6. Maybe I read it wrong...Did you fly it down TO 2000 ft or fly down 2000 ft? Wouldn't you feel more comfortable cutting away (intentionally) a little higher? That doesn't give you a whole lot of time to deal with another mal...but I guess some open their mains that low! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  7. I would think that side mounting a PC would allow you to turn the camera over for HD easier, and would be a preferable way of mounting camera for FF. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  8. This is what I have come to understand. I was just curious about the logbook function and if it served any value to skydiving. It would definately be great for hiking and skiing. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  9. I am considering getting a Suunto X6 alti watch. I have heard many good things about other Suunto watches and nothing specific about this model, but my main question is regarding the functionality of the logbook function. I assume it does not have computational capacity to give exit altitude and opening altitude, just total descent. Is this correct? I know it is most useful under canopy, but would like to hear what other have experienced. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  10. Today I am completely C-qualified. 2 weeks from now, I will no longer be C-qualified. I would like to get my coach rating when the opportunity arises, and I will be MUCH COOLER if I have a C-license. That is what C stands for, right?! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  11. What is the material that should be studied for the C-License exam? Is there specific or general subjects that are covered on the test, and should be looked at more closely than others? ...FUN FOR ALL!

Hey, I have to Yamahas and there is NO reason what so ever that there should not be naked ladies next to both of them! Plus they won't have to stand in oil! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  14. They actually brought the "Poly Royal" title back into the open house event 2 years ago, and they are trying to make it fun again. They still do the rodeo and tractor pull. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  15. I was in Sebastian last year and used rental gear that was FreeFly Friendly (say that 10 times fast). Has that changed, or did I miss something about the gear? It was actually a pretty nice javelin that I rented, with a Sabre 170 in it. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  16. edit - no advertising items for sale in the forums. send a pm, 'kay? thanks
  17. At your jump numbers, getting gear is the way to go. Here is my take - Get used gear. Be patient you will find something that fits, looks, feels, is right for you. Used gear doesn't lose value too fast, and by the time you are ready for a custom rig and a canopy that you will jump 500 times or more; you can sell yours to another newbie for not much less than you bought it for. I got a smoking deal on a Mirage with less than 120 jumps and a Sabre 150 with less than 300 jumps for $2000. What I was told is that I could put a 135 in this container and it would be nice, but I am not quite ready to downsize. There will be a deal that comes along and grabs you, just be ready to grab it when it comes by! I look forward to the day I am ready to order a brand new rig! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  18. All of this is great advice, however it is equally or more dependent on the condition of the canopy as well. I have a mirage designed for a 150 (but will take a 170), and I had an easier time putting my friends 170 in it than my own (newer) 150. So if you are putting an older ZP 170 in it, you may not have a problem. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  19. I have seen a lot of advice about jump numbers and being safe; I have also seen a lot of advice about having great RW skills to be able to capture a decent video. What are the primary safety concerns and preperation that one should know before getting involved with buying a camera? I am talking about those who want to Freefly with their friends, and maybe catch some video of the open sky tackle or the momentary spock. I am talking about the basic requirements to put a low profile camera in a box on your head. I know emergency procedures change, I know that you have to be more aware of opening quirks and packing technique. Is their a set of commonly accepted guidlines (like BV's canopy progression guidelines) for aspiring freefly vid squid lids? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  20. Something I find very useful that I don't see many people do-- I S-fold the top of the canopy only. After laying on it and getting all of the air out and narrowed down to bag width, I swiftly and neatly put 1 s-fold in the top of the canopy. I then put it in the bag. Once the top half of the canopy is in the bag, I move off of the lines/grommets and get out above the bag. I then pull the lines and bottom section of the canopy up and s-fold it INTO the bag. This gives you less canopy to try to stuff in the bag at one time, and allows you to neatly fold in the bottom section with the lines and grommets. ...FUN FOR ALL!

  22. That is good information for the aspiring camera flyer, what is your take on FreeFly video? I feel like I just want to have a camera on my head to capture the jump, not so much as a videographer (that might come later). What are the minimum requirements for somebody who wants to capture some Free Flying with their friends? It is always my goal to fly close to my jump partner(s) and keep them in front of me, what else might I want to practice before getting a camera? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  23. Does that link work for you? According to my computer, their site is not available, coming soon! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  24. It depends on the singer Most sewing machine shops have very knowledgeable old ladies, check with them. Threading a machine is fairly simple, but if you donn't know what you are looking at it can be confusing.Your best bet is to take it to the local shop and have them show you. ...FUN FOR ALL!
