  1. Reporting live from the Wild Turkey Boogie. Team Old and Brittle has pushed new limits of crustiness as Yuri was unable to make 2 jumps in a single day. Many firsts were attained as friends wowed friends with "on the side deployments", line twists, and freefall aerials, both intentional and otherwise. Team Stumbly Wumbly took the gold in the pond (giant puddle) swooping contest. Nitelife was entertaining with karaoke that the locals would be proud of. The WIld Turkey Boogie set new highs in lows. Cya.
  2. I hope that they get this stuff to market soon. It makes possible my political platform of "If you are getting a government check (welfare, etc) you must be on mandatory birth control". This will enable us to stop the cycle of governement supported persons creating more governtment supported persons, ending a cycle that has gone on for decades and generations. Stopping this cycle is key to reducing crime and many other systemic social problems in this country.
  3. If it wraps the MLW it requires a harness machine. If you have an articulated harness (chest rings) it can be done with a straight stich and bar tack (or zig zag).
  4. If I never had to climb another A, it would be perfectly alright to me. The best jumps are the ones you DON'T have climb. Free altitude is the best altitude. Elevators for B's or A's are the way to go. I don't mind hiking at all, but if the coice is to caatch a ride or hike... all the quicker to the next jump, or to the bar. Its all whatever yoiu like in your jumps.
  5. I would have to agree, its not a very well informed idea. Rounds are used in BASE for only jumps over water. From your question "which is cheaper" you clearly are not a jumper. Why the interest in parachutes since you do not jump?
  6. Yo Chuck, Same here. I had a great time jumping with you and AC. After swooping my butt off all season on the Xkeys pond, it was a real humbling experience at skyquest. My suckometer was buried in the red all weekend, but I learned a lot, met some great new friends, and generally had a great time. You'd never know it from my swoops this weekend, but I qualified PRO for PST and will be doing all tour stops in 04'. I hope to see you on tour too. Tree
  7. The weather looks good and the room is booked. See you all on FL time!
  8. I've flown a wing suit, it just didn't fit that well. No big deal. The only reason I want one is for big wall base. So like I said, if you would like to see your suit fly off a cliff..... Cya.
  9. If you are planning on a FJC thats a good thing. As Phree has said, work on your canopy skiils. There are jumpers in your back yard, so I'm not sure why you can't find them. Perhaps a little more searching is in order. This isn't one of those things were "when the student is ready the master appears". Have you ground crewed, or offered to ground crew? Did you go to BD? You are asking complete strangers on the net to take responsibilty for your life, and to endanger themselves in the process. Perhaps a teenie little bit more work on your part. Maybe offering ground crew instead of asking for a mentor. Bribes of alchohol & other goodies go a long way too. Keep up the hard work!
  10. There are plenty of BASE's in OH, but taking out a BASE on-line personal ad is not much of a commitment to find people and learn base. Probably want to find a base jumper at your DZ. If not, someone at your DZ must know someone. Did you just wake up today and decide you want to jump off of things, or have you read the hundreds of BASE documents that are on line all over the web? Call PARA-CARE. 800-Safe-ALT. They get you back to a safe altitude before it's too late.
  11. Finally, someone I can borrow a birdman suit from. I'm 6'10' , but I'm sure that it will fit. If you would like to see that suit fly off of a cliff, it can be arranged. Tree BASE610

    Going Stowed

Hey Adam, I tried to get the "stowed" article but every time I tried it froze Explorer. Might want to check out the problem.
  13. Well written and logical. I think that it should also be noted that if a particiapnt in base is so concerned about a slide up line over, it might be time to re-consider jumping. I've not had a line over, but I snagged limb of a tree one time that effectively "hooked" me inot the ground. Ibounced about a foot, and after about five minutes was able to get up. Nothing broke because I hit dirt, not rocks. But now I'm not all that worrried because I'm confident that spiralling in couild not have any greater impact than what I've already experienced. Cya.
  14. I'm pretty sure that they are referring to the altitude of the jump. If I'm not mistaken, it is not the highest in terms of the vertical height of the wall or freefall. Singleman isn't even a base jumper, nor does he seem to respect the sport or its participants. He is quoted as saying "that anybody who can jump off of a chair and pull a handkerchief out of their back pocket can make a base jump". It figures he would try to gain notoriety for his jump, one way or another.
  15. Must have had the wrong address. Thanks for the 411. I've emailed Sonic to see if I can get a slot.
  16. Hi Shani, I am planning on going, but would like to get some details. The website still has 2002 info on it.
  17. Anyone have the details on the pond meet coming up soon? I hear that Sonic is organizing, and its all about water.
  18. "He said that it had never been done before. I have always wondered if that was true" The first that I know of was Carl Boenish in something like 1977. It was on his early BASE movies and the launch was from either El Cap of Half Dome. Mystery solved.
  19. "magic levitation pixies" You made my day with that one. Very nice work indeed. Tree BASE610, Skinflicka FAN1
  20. Comments such as "Sorry if you did not understand it. It is just science, nothing personal" are what got my knickers bunched up in the first place. Very condescending, as were many of the things you said to Tom. It doesn't help to have a bunch of knowledge if you piss people off trying to share it. No one is the single authoruty on any of this stuff, and trying to sell yourself as such never does justice. Relax, share, and enjoy. Gotta go jump now. Cya PS: I still love you Johnny.
  21. Johnny, Your explanation of air molecules is irrelevant, and really quite petty. I think what Tom has been saying is that the assertions you have made fly in the face of some generally held truths about BASE canopy deployments. Suggesting that Tom's short time (?) in the sport somehow makes his technical knowledge lesser than yours is about as silly as suggesting his much greater jump numbers somehow ameliates your knowledge. You've made some assertions about ultra low deployments based primarily it seems, on Anderson's ladder truck jump. Unless you have real data to back up your assertions, and I don't think that 1 or 10 jumps is a valid data pool, they are merely assertions, which by definition, are not factual. So rather than try to run Tom down to make your newly stated assertions seem more plausible, back it up with real facts. Otherwise I am inclined to believe the empirical data that supports the current theories on PCA's, (and other low deployment methods) which is to say that hanging all of one's body weight under a canopy suspended at the bridle attachment is probably not the quickest opening nor highest quality deployment. Just cause someone says it, don't make it so. Tree
  22. Ahhhh, almost reminds me of the Base Board. Kill the trolls! Tree
  23. I'd like to add this: If you stall out on your back, all you have to do is pull your knees up to your chest, and voila' you will finish the rotation. Much better than flailing to roll over. Tree
  24. That was freakin hilarious! Nice!

    Felix Discussion

Quote: Perfect. Now Felix can jump them and tell everyone that he has opened Croatia up for BASE! Smile for the camera kitty.
