  1. I can see it now; Immigration officer: "Are you associated with any terrorist organisation?" "Do you take any illegal drugs" "Ever drive drunk?" "Ever had, or wish you had, sexual relations with a minor?" "Do you intend to do any illegal base jumping while in this country?" "Do you have any anti-american sentiments in general?" And BAM! I'm either monitored strictly, arrested on the spot, deported back or simply sent straight to Gitmo, just in case...
  2. I know about the bad and the good...what does the excellent 4-way team sound like?
  3. Yes, I was thinking somewhere along the same lines...
  4. You know, a couple of years ago, I probably would have thought he was a god...but I don't share that sentiment with him anymore. Although he has done some cool things so far, his biggest accomplishment is definitely his ego. So; let's just hope he'll come back as a chicken one day...
  5. Actually, I'm not even sure it's that funny, but here it is; Two guys are standing at the edge of a cliff. One has a budgie on each shoulder, the other one a larger parrot on one, and a shotgun on the other. After standing there and gathering courage for a couple of minutes, the first guy jumps off. His budgies immediately fly away, he himself crashes down among the rocks and the shrubs. Lying there broken, he slowly turns himself over, just in time to see his friend jump off. About halfway down, the parrot decides to fly away, but the guy grabs his shotgun and shoots it out of the air a moment before crashing next to his friend. As they're both lying there, the first guy says. (cough) "You know, I just don't see what this hype around budgie jumping is all about." "Yeah," says the other guy; "I'm not really that impressed with freefall parrot shooting, either."
  6. I just got my daily dose of comics; this User Friendly episode really made me laugh out loud...

    Sunday Quiz

OK, here's another riddle; Mr Smith has a rare medical condition that requires very expensive treatment. Every morning and every evening, he has to take two pills, medicine A and medicine B. The pills are unmarked, they look, weigh and taste the same. Once he gets them out of the bottles, it's impossible to tell them apart. One morning, he shakes out a pill from bottle A into his hand and then tries to shake out a pill from bottle B, but his hand shakes and two pills fall out. He now has three pills in his hand and no way to tell them apart. They are much too expensive to be thrown away, but if he makes a mistake and takes the wrong pills, he'll die. Can you think of a way to help him?

    Sunday Quiz

You'd get the shit kicked out of you by other skydivers for wasting good beer?
  9. Yep, this is me. Looking much more wasted than I actually am, as usual.
  10. Try this, Shunkka. Windows media instead of quicktime, but it can be downloaded, not just streamed.
  11. It was posted some time ago in talkback...I think it's one of the greatest musical videos of all times.
  12. Hey, we're only depressed when we're on the ground! Sorry, I'm not sure how those should be answered. But they remind me of this CH cartoon I have on my wall

    Friday quiz

No, no, no...the point is, once you're halfway there, your overall average speed is limited by your average speed at the momentx2 Or, if you do one third of the way, your overall average speed can never be three times your average speed at that point. And so on... .
  14. Don't you just love it when reality starts melting around the edges? And did you notice any changes in your behaviour? I know that when I get less than 4 hours of sleep, I become so cruelly sarcastic I can make people cry...
  15. As long as you're talking wingsuit BASE, I think Lukas Knutsson should definitely be remembered. And if you're talking badass videos, The Fastest Motherfucker In the Valley comes readily to mind.
  16. Version 2.0.18 is out and my jump dates are back to normal. If I understood Roger from Alti-2 correctly, the upgrade doesn't change any log data, so the problem was in the way version 2.0.14 read it. I still got doubled exit and opening altitudes in metric (normal if I switch to imperial), though, but Paralog displays them as they should be.

    Red Rover Code

Some of us are to stupid or lazy to do it ourselves. So we're waiting on you smarties to tell us the secret!! (to paraphrase Champu) And decrease my chances of winning free Legos? No way! Oh boy, I hope they're aluminium ones like they put on the dvd...
  18. We had to land with the plane the other day and I now think that our pilot, although very competent, is one sadistic bastard. He did a tight 180 carving approach to final, then pulled up and cut the throttle so we all floated for a second before slamming us down. On the other hand, he agreed at once when I asked if he could do a zero g maneuver for my exit. He also said that he could float me out of the plane if I just sat opposite the door, but I politely declined.
  19. There are? Yes, I'm talking about the one from PV. Who makes the other?
  20. It's currently selling dirt-cheap in Europe. I don't know if this is a promotional price or a dumping strategy because of some issue that makes the canopy less popular. Anyway, I've read about everything that's been written about it here on dz.com (even the stuff in german and french, although that took the better part of an hour), but I still don't think I know much. The things I'm curious about is how exactly it behaves in flight (how much oversteer, how fast are the turns, how it handles in brakes) and on landings. Roq mentions a negative recovery arc, some people mention it nearly stalls in swoops, general consensus seems to be it's really sensitive to pilot input, but at what wl? Is 1.6 (what I'd be loading a 130) enough for this canopy and do you think it might be too big a step-up in performance from the Impulse I'm flying now. (Which I'll have to return sometime soon.) (edited; I'm calling up Stane from Atair tomorrow. I think he did some work on the design of this canopy)

That's the message...if you got the letters right, it shouldn't be a problem. Put it all in one line for ease of reading and mind the spaces.
  22. I fly an Atair Impulse which is, I believe, the same canopy as a Contrail and almost the same canopy as a Cobalt (without the diamonds and the 18-part topskin). Atair Slovenia makes all three of them, as well as other canopies for PV. (Although I think the Demon is made elsewhere.) I've also jumped an Omega container a few times, but it's not anything to be overly excited about.
  23. Is that an integrated holder for the goggles strap on the back of those helmet? Looks like a built-in snag hazard to me, although it could easily be filled with silicon or or some other moldable material. Otherwise, the design looks quite cool.
