You pretty much got it. In addition to those, riser protection and making sure the rig properly fits so you don't slip out.

Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise
JWest replied to stratostar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Wait, if you move into a house next to an airport that has an established skydiving company, isn't that exactly what you are signing up for? -
Being a heavier person I have to agree with what a lot of people are saying. My first time in a tunnel was a shit show. I was not used to the airspeed being so slow. Once I got used to that after a minute or so everything was fine. Mostly did back net drills after that.

This guy, lol

That's awesome.

What? That's not how saturation works. If the atmosphere was saturated with CO2 you couldn't add more CO2 to it. The atmosphere is optically saturated. Think about it this way; putting a foot of insulation in your attic will keep some heat in your house. But putting ten feet of insulation will not keep ten times more heat in your house. The warming effect of CO2 drops off logarithmically. Yadda yadda bla bla bla, do your homework Junebug. Yawn. You claimed that the atmosphere was already saturated. It is not. The rising CO2 levels show that it is not. lawrocket- Mass extinction is inevitable, even if it is billions of years away. I don't find that scary it's interesting! If we continue to pump CO2 into the atmosphere faster than it can dissipate is will reach toxic levels and it will cause a mass extinction event. As you said it probably wouldn't be for hundreds of thousands of year. But it would happen. There are also tons of other things that could kill us long before that, disease, asteroids, mentors, all can kill us long before CO2 levels. We could invent technology to take care of the problem by the time it became a serious threat anyway. We will be long dead before the ice sheets could fully melt, that doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything no to prevent that from happening.

I apologize, it has been a while since I used anything other than store bought ammo. Green tip ammo is the standard issued 5.56 ammo, black tip is armor piercing and red tip is a tracer round. That was my mistake. The green tip just indicates it was designed for deeper penetration. It also helps penetration at longer ranges. Not all 5.56 ammo is armor piercing. Sure it's can be considered that for the things you previously mentioned but compared to an actual armor piercing round it is different. When I was in the military we did not call green tip armor pricing, if we needed that we would use black tip. Also I have worn armor that can stop a 5.56mm round and plates that can stop up to a 7.62mm.

Why do we need armor pricing ammo?

The game wasn't met for you. It was met for rushmc. But I can't stop you from answering. "No. Not as they presently are. A hundredth of one percent increase isnt a big deal to me." It might not be a big deal now, but if the numbers continue to increase it will become a big deal. Ocean acidification and heat trapping caused by C02 has the potential to cause a mass extinction event. rushmc. I'm not concerned with what the article says I want to know what you think. This isn't about the website you post, it's about you and your beliefs. Unless you just regurgitate what it says with no thought, but I'm giving you more credit than that.

"Obama gun control push".... I wasn't aware it was a bad thing. I am aware that the NRA hyped up that Obama was going to take your guns. All Obama did was try to make sure that guns go into the hands of people who will safely use them. His other executive orders like banning assault weapons was nothing new. Assault weapons have been mostly illegal before Obama was in office. Note: I'm an avid shooter/combat vet/ own 3 handguns and 5 rifles. I'm in no way against guns. Just think its crazy that people blame Obama for something that most gun owners see as a good thing. Keeping guns away from people who will give them a bad reputation.

"Mocking climate science" Not all science. Let's play a game, let's assume that you are correct and humanity has no effect on climate change and the current observed change is purely nature related. 1.) Who do you think benefits from saying climate change is human influenced? 2.) Do you contest that the CO2 levels are rising? 3.) If the CO2 levels are rising do you agree that the risk posed to people by raising the CO2 level is a big deal? 4.) If CO2 emissions were to become unregulated who would that benefit? 5.) If manmade climate change is false and propaganda used to prevent excess CO2 emission is that really a bad thing knowing the consequences of an CO2 saturated atmosphere?

Clues, $.05 Yep, you get it. If you haven't checked out population models build from ODE you should. They are pretty awesome.

You'd be amazed at the credentials of some of the posters here. Anyone who thinks that 'climate change' is, by any measure, the biggest issue faced by humanity is somewhere between clueless and delusional. I'd LOVE it if that was the worst of our problems. As it is, it is about as significant as worrying about what is the best hangnail treatment for someone with a sucking chest wound. BTW, was 'weather or not' an attempt at humor? BSBD, Winsor I was on mobile and didn't catch the mistype. I'm sure there are many posters here who have great credentials, much better than mine. I was mostly targeting the one guy who keeps posting links from one questionable website. Many consider climate change to be one of the biggest issues and if not the biggest issue for long term survival of the species. Sure there are immediate issues that need to be dealt with, such as civil rights, equality, poverty, education, and war. Mass genocide could be looked at as bad/good depending on viewpoint. If you care more about individual lives than the long term survival of the species, some of what I'm saying will sound insane. Kind of falls into the same category of "Do we need more jobs or less people?" totally different topic no need to discuss further in this thread. We live in a closed ecosystem if you change something drastically enough you can collapse the entire thing. For what it's worth before I became educated I was skeptical about climate change having any human factor. Now it's undeniably a factor. Last, for the guy who keeps posting the same link, if you recognize climate change is real, and there is a human factor to it, why do you keep posting a link to that website? The person who runs it has said there is no point in regulating Co2 emissions. This should not be supported. If you want to have any credibility use real sources from respected establishments. To answer your question I do not recognize the equation but it resembles the solar time equation, but hard to tell without the context of the variables. Source: modern physics which is only a 300 level class but It's awesome.

Then why are you continuously arranging with someone that has the knowledge to better understand the issue? The biggest thing I think you are missing is that even the person who runs that website agrees that global warming is a thing. He just believes that it is driven more by nature than by C02 emissions. He even said that CO2 could be a small part of it. I ask you a yes or no question, is the average climate increasing in temperature?
-
Legitimate question, are either of you educated in the field of engineering, or physics? Even mathematical statistics.? A rather basic understanding of thermodynamics can completely solve what seems to be incoherent rambling. I'm going to assume neither of you. Based on the second law of thermodynamics alone everything is heating up. Now regardless of what you think or want to believe air temp is a much lesser issue than ocean temp http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/science/indicators/oceans/sea-surface-temp.html see when the ocean heats up the density of the water decreases, the volume increases. The ocean has been rising http://ocean.nationalgeographic.com/ocean/critical-issues-sea-level-rise/ Along with the increase in sea level the ocean is also absorbing more CO2 than ever before. This is causing carbonic acid, raising the acidity of the ocean to increase. http://ocean.nationalgeographic.com/ocean/critical-issues-ocean-acidification/ So to dismiss your pointless rambling weather you believe it or not it's happening and if for some reason you don't like the links I have provided hop on https://scholar.google.com and type in any of the subjects I mentioned. One more for good measure https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/ If none of those do it for you than you are hopeless and all I can ask is for you to not to vote anymore. Let the people who care about the preservation of the human species make the important decisions. This section of the forum should really be below all the skydiving stuff, even if it is the main source of traffic/income. It's embarrassing for this to be the first thing people see when they visit the forum.

I don't think math works the way you think it does. "Come on man math," back at you. hahaha tuché. I think I've been out of school too long. where angle has to be greater than theta tan(theta) = opposite over adjacent. tan(theta) = 1/2 theta = tan^-1(0.5) ... I think if I can do this correctly anymore theta = 26.3 deg or greater. Haha, I forgive you. I have a math minor and I still mess up basic math. More than I should admit.

USPA National Directors Lying about jump numbers....
JWest replied to swooper71's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
After seeing the jump number pissing contest on this website I wouldn't blame them. -
Getting unconscious/unable to deploy, saved by an AAD? I get it. The rest - I don't get it. Kill me for asking What do ADDs' and RSLs' have to do with each other? You asked about RSL saves. Also "save" is a poor term to use, "deployment" is much better. The time is takes for an RSL to pull the pin is often faster than the human action to pull the reserve handle. English isn't your first language and it made your question ambiguous. Try explaining what you want to ask. Right now I'm still convinced you are asking if the sport would be better of without all the people "saved" by the RSL.
