That's the point. UAL hasn't paid into their pension obligations LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD. Now you and I tax payers will be paying for the old pensions through the government backing of the pension plan. You know, there are hard working people at that airline (I fly for a United Express carrier) and maybe you just wish they would go away but we don't want to lose our livelyhood and have to start over. The managers have run it into the ground with STUPID business decisions like trying to buy USAir ($250 million loss on the deal), starting a corporate fractional carrier (multi-million dollars), failed plans at a commuter terminal for O'Hare (it's one of the first buildings to be demolished when the runway realignment comes), etc.... You wouldn't like if I posted that I wished you'd lose your job. Would you? I thought not. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Jeremy, it's customary to put realistic numbers in your profile. No one can make you change it except the big red fork and he doesn't have time for such trivial stuff. But, it would be nice if you had your real info in those slots. Also, there really was no need to flame Mike back a few posts. I think that may be she pointed out that your shorts were down. Just a thought. And since you keep responding to posts that have nothing to do with whom you are talking to (replying to Bo when you are posting to Mar) you might want to check things out until you have the hang of things around here. Chris edit: Seems you flamed WFFC and not JRock like I originally put. Sorry, you're just hard to follow I guess.

I think the only thing NBC actually tought anyone was to be more paranoid of middle-eastern looking men. The threat is multi-national and you have to watch for ANYTHING out of the ordinary. I bring a camera to work to take pictures of planes because I love planes. A passenger comes to me saying another passenger was taking pictures of planes and we should watch him because he has dark skin. So he's instantly a terrorist and I'm not? Yep, I think that's what I mean. Time will tell. I think this is a mistake to pull anything back from there now.

It's an excuse. Pull the forces out. Wait for what's his name to get so greedy and think it's a good time to do something that he actually tries something then send forces there in great numbers. Kind of like a "give me an excuse punk" sort of way. They don't want security there. They want an excuse to go into N. Korea with force to get the nukes. They don't care about negotiating a peace. My opinion on the troop withdrawl from Korea. The European withdrawl seems fine to me.

Scott! Dude! How you doing? What do you know more about Paul? I don't see any recent updates on that website you linked to. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Yes, Skydive Chicago operates on its own private airport. 50 foot wide and 4,500 foot long paved and flat. It's open on both ends. A very nice runway. It happened Friday morning. What I was told was that it was followed from Texas as it crossed the border. I was also told the plane was a Cessna 310. Don't know how correct that is. There was a King Air 200/300 (can't tell the difference between the two) parked and was told that it was a DEA King Air. Also, there were Black Hawks following in behind with the night vision stuff. In this day and age you gotta be fucking stupid to try to smuggle drugs across the border in a plane. They have radar set up all over the place to look for this stuff. Now Homeland Security is looking for anything coming across the border due to terrorism and the fact that the President's home is in TEXAS!!!! Dumb shits. Chris

I have heard bits and pieces of a Cessna 206 landing off field after an engine failure in Ohio. Anyone want to step forward and provide more information? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

I believe that hangar was built by Roger Nelson and crew back in the early/mid 90s when he owned it. It was the template for building the current Skydive Chicago facility in Ottawa, IL. When I told Missy that it was destroyed she looked fairly moved by the news. I'm sure it held a special place in her heart. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Cross Keys Pilot Busts Skyvan Record Loads Per Day at 42!
diverdriver replied to Skyvanfan's topic in The Bonfire
Flying that many loads in one day just hurts. Mark Lamberson and I did in one day 42 and 37 loads respectively. 79 loads to full altitude with two otters ain't bad. I bet he hobbled into the bonfire. And I bet the next morning when he went to fly again he just haited to look at that friggin airplane. I know I did. Congrats! Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
Skydivers Who are Pilots...or Pilots Who are Skydivers
diverdriver replied to skygazer's topic in The Bonfire
Pilot first. Skydiver second. Did my first jump after flying loads for two months. Wanted to see what the other side was like. Did one IAD jump and was hooked. Had to do that again. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -

For anyone who wants to know. No fees or registration so just come out. A message from Keith "Nitehook" Nugent. Team Funnel Day 8/21/04 Have you graduated AFP in the past year? Have you been away from the sport for a while? Are you new to the area, and just want a chance to meet some new friends to jump with? Well, mark your calendars! Saturday, 8/21/04, is Team Funnel day at Skydive Chicago! For those who don't know, Team Funnel is a loose organization of skydivers dedicated to the belief that no one should have to jump alone. We specialize in jumping with low-timers -- an informal mentoring program with an emphasis on safety -- but go out of our way to make visitors feel at home as well. Every weekend, there are Team Funnel members around the dropzone, so if you ever find yourself at Skydive Chicago with nobody to jump with, just go into manifest and ask them to page a Team Funnel member to the office. Next Saturday, 8/21/04, though, it's going to be even easier! There will be sign-up sheets around the hangar where you can just write your name down, and We'll come find you! We'll have plenty of jumpers on hand who want to jump with you, talk about the sport, or re-tell their stories about when they first started jumping. We'll have people of all different experience levels, so whether you have 20 jumps or 500 jumps, come out, sign up, and get jumping with us! If you're a member of Team Funnel, or are an experienced jumper interested in joining Team Funnel or just helping out by jumping with some new jumpers, contact Keith or Bill to let us know.. If you're a new skydiver, or just new to the area, and interested in meeting and jumping with people, email keith@teamfunnel.com or tequillabill@teamfunnel.com, or just show up on Saturday, 8/21/04. When the jumping is done and the daylight is gone, we'll probably relax at the Tiki Hut with some of Chef Tim's famous food, libations, and the usual skydiver B.S. and banter. Plan on spending the night and hanging out afterward, when all the good stories come out! There are no fees or limitations on your abilities or experience level, and no pre-registration requirements. Just show up and be ready to jump. Sign-up starts at 8am, with jumping starting at 9am, so show up early to get in a full day with multiple jumps. If you can't make it out that early, come out when you can; we'll be jumping all day. The only rule is that you must be a current skydiver; you must have completed your AFP training, be qualified for your "A" license, and be current with your jumps... in other words, you need to be qualified to jump without an instructor. While some Team Funnel members also have coach or instructor ratings, we are not, as an organization, instructors or coaches - just a group of people who remember what it was like to graduate AFP and wonder "what do I do now?" Blue Skies! -Keith "Nitehook" Nugent Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Keeping hush hush on incidents/crashes
diverdriver replied to Vallerina's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Congrats Val. You are now one of "US" who have a hidden agenda. How's it feel? You try to do the right thing and make people aware and now you have a hidden agenda? Ummm... no, my agenda is to inform and protect skydivers. It's a very PUBLIC agenda. Again, congrats. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
Keeping hush hush on incidents/crashes
diverdriver replied to Vallerina's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Dude, you summed it up exactly. I know I was called out on this thread awhile back. I've been a bit busy. Sorry. Believe it or not if you don't see an NTSB report listed on my site or on the main site it doesn't mean it wasn't reported. (did that make sense?) It IS possible to land gear up and not be required to make an NTSB report (Mullins last year). You are "allowed" to bend your propellors and scrape your paint and not have to report to NTSB under part 830. However, bend a firewall or ding a wing and you most likely will have to report. It's a fine line. Does the mechanic want to forget he made repairs to a structural part of the plane after a gear up landing? Some might. Some have. And most certainly, MANY jump plane accidents have gone unreported or under-reported. "Hanging chad" anyone? This will always go on. It's up to us (the community) to call it out when we see it to make sure everyone is playing above board. No need to embelish. No need to name call. Just state what you know or what you have a question about. We do have the right to know since we are the paying public. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125 -
Ok, probably nothing. The blurp just had that "jump plane" ring to it. Running out of gas and putting down in a field. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

Paxton was having a turbine beech in the week preceeding the WFFC. They're now having a King Air...trying to get the scoop on the Beech - it wasn't clear if something happened to it or not. That's funny. I didn't see anything on the FAA website. Wonder if it got reported or not. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
