  1. People forget just how big the Pentagon is. That's a lot of debris and stuff falling on top of whatever shards of metal are left. Plus, all that Jet A burning for hours at such a high degree it probably melted most of whatever was left. It didn't just stop at the first ring in the Pentagon. It slid underneath a few rings in too. Oh, why in the world am I even trying to argue this? I saw this stuff posted over on rec.skydiving and it just makes my heart ache that people are so stupid. Yah, and the moon walks were all done in Hollywood studios. Chris
  2. Everyone should remember that this is PRELIMINARY report. Things could be changed by the time the final report comes out. As far as preliminary reports go, this is a VERY detailed report. It will take at least a year before the final report is released with a "cause". Andy, this wasn't directed at you. Just thought I'd add in some more info. 4. Ummm, when did this happen? Chris
  5. Ok rhino, I don't know if you jump there or not but why should they tell you anything? The official people (FAA and Local Officials) are investigating. If they say anything to you and it is taken out of context then it can come back to bite them. Why don't we give them a chance to do a full investigation before we start insinuating that there is a conspiracy to cover up here? Chris
  6. Actually, it is almost direct line to Denver. Well, direct to the Southwest arrival gate into Denver. Soooooo Nyaahhhhh!!!!!!! Chris

  8. Ok, it didn't happen at an airport but in flight. I've been an airline pilot for over two years now and doing cabin announcements are pretty routine. Coming from Santa Barbara, CA to Denver we were about to pass over Las Vegas and Hoover dam. But, during the cabin announcement, I said "For those of you on the left side of the aircraft you can see Los Angeles and on the right Hoover Dam." DOOHHHH!!! I got done with this two minute cabin announcement to the lingering stare of my first officer. I said "What?" He told me what I did and I was sure he was just yanking my chain. But, no, he was right. So, I couldn't do anything but make another announcement pointing out how sharp my FO was and that we really did know where we were flying. According to the Flight Attendant the passengers were busting out laughing at the correction announcement. It's ok....My ego can handle it....... Chris
  9. You make that sound like it's a "bad" thing! Chris
  10. I love O'Hare. It's a zoo! Always interesting and a challenge. Best air traffic controllers in the world! Chris
  11. Air Wisconsin. It is a Regional Airline for United. I am based at O'Hare in Chicago. But I fly all around the country. We fly from California all the way across. After June 7th we will pick up survice to Virginia and Georgia which will give us coast to coast flying. And we're just "puddle jumpers"? I like my Regional Jet. Chris
  12. Well, the airline is paying me to sit on the ground. I guess I can't complain. I'm earning money while posting on DZ.com. Guess it could be worse. Chris
  13. Skymedic and Sunshine are on ground due to high winds. I'm on ground cuz I'm on call today. :( Chris
  14. No....Boobies means it's just begun!
  15. 4 years ago a Cessna 206 jump plane crashed killing six. Five of them were close friends of mine. Seems so long ago and at the same time is very fresh. Lots has happened since then. Stay aware all. Be safe. When you realize it can happen to you or your close friends you will be ahead of the game. Chris
  16. Hey, we can exit a 10-way in 2 seconds I think we can handle 15 out of that Arava. Chris
  17. Myth. You are correct in your statements. Press would have been all over it by now. We know what happened to people pretty well who died on those flights. He doesn't think we'd know more about people who survived? Chris
  18. ONLY AS LAST RESORT do you dump the drogue. The proper way to get out of the side spin is to bring your legs in and match the students. This should help give you a chance to do a half roll and then dump the drogue while face to earth. But, if you've tried that and nothing is working and you are running out of altitude then yep, you got do something to survive. Avoiding the side spin is the key to it all. In the training course we were taught that side spins usually were traced back to poor body position of the TM on exit AND loose lateral attachments to the student harness. This was the most common cause. I was amazed how tight I needed to get the laterals during my training. Just when I thought I had it my instructor Kirk said "Great, now get them tighter." Then he proceeded to get me on the floor by stepping back on my foot and as we fell I cut the back of my hand. But, I'd rather do that with an Instructor all at once before dealing with the real thing and wondering about it. Chris
  19. I think you might be able too. We'll all find out soon. Can't wait to get out there and see it. Chris
  20. I used Orbitz when I went to Nationals. Last minute booking and found good rate and easy to use I thought. Chris
  21. According to Andre the owner it is narrower than the Otter door but wider than the DC-3 door. Chris
  22. Here is the link to my forum on Jump Planes. Click Here Many are from the early 90s but there are quit a few I found from the mid to later 90s. Just when I think I've found most I seem to pop up more. Netscape users may have some difficulty seeing the forum. We haven't been able to resolve some of those issues.
