  1. Hey AndyMan, I just looked at our calendar for SDC and totally forgot about our 2 for 1 jumps. All the jumps you do that weekend you get that many free during the rest of the month. Soooo.....we're gonna have to see what people want to do so we can group them for the Hinckley dates. I'm sure we can work it out. What is the rate at Hinckley that weekend? Chris
  2. Actually, that was my slot on the 10-way team at nationals. Sorry....inside joke. When we got down they'd ask "Who hit the door?" The answer was "number nine....number nine...number nine." It's ok, the bruises went away after about a month and a half. Chris
  3. We're not allowed to participate? Chris
  4. [funky music] falling brick.....HOoousse[/funky music] [cabbage patch][/cabbage patch]
  5. Slow is smooth.... Smooth is fast.... You better go slow...... Or I'll kick your ASS!!!! Chris
  6. Amen. Chris Proud member of STL-TFx. Number nine....numbrer nine...number nine.....
  7. That's fair enough. Oh, and Kallend said yes. And this is a good time to advertise DZ.com to other jumpers in the area. Maybe they aren't regulars now but then again this might be that catalist to get more people exchanging ideas. I know Rainbo has posted here and he's way experienced. Chris
  8. Yah, you all are instilling a lot of confidence in the other jumpers who want to break this record. What we can do is have a warm up this weekend (not saying for sure that I can be there) and build the skills for May 4,5 at Hinckley. Then later in the summer we can do a date at Ottawa and try to bust it wide open with a 20+ way. Chris
  9. Knock it off guys. The only ones perpetuating this "cult" atmosphere is you all. I have very definitive reasons why I call Skydive Chicago my home DZ. I can go wherever, whenever I want. Shit, I flew Roger's C-182 down to Quincy for a mini-vacation. OOOOOoooooo,,, the scandal !! Come on guys. I have a 10-way score to settle on Saturday but might be there later in the day. It's only 20 minutes down the road you know. And I'm on call Sunday so I might come out and hang out more on Sunday. We'll see. Chris
  10. Wait, didn't we talk about doing THREE (3) weekends? One at Morris, one at Hinckley, and one at Ottawa? Go for it this weekend if you can. At least try and see how people fall together. It would be a good warm up for the May deal at Hinckley. Chris
  11. Can you say aligators? Sometimes the risk to the search crew is so significant that decisions have to be made to keep from having more victims. Back that attitude up on cops. Many a night they came running when I worked at a hotel in Daytona Beach during Spring Break. When I needed help they were there. FAST. One night a dumbass had a gun. Cops got there pronto. So, I for one don't appreciate this overall characterisation of our police force. Chris
  12. See, I asked that question many posts ago. What was the reasoning the JM wanted that. It makes no sense and if I was DZO I think I would have to have a discussion with that JM as to why it was planned that way. Maybe there's something here I'm missing. It just doesn't make sense that I can put out 23 people (11 groups) on one pass and four people can't get out of a cessna on one pass. Chris
  13. You know, he could still be alive and unconcious. On the FLIR it just might stand out quit a bit now. I'm hopeful. Chris
  14. No, I think some may be missing my point. Just posting someone's name and only the name can be taken for posting some bad news. Sorry, this is something we started last year after four of our friends were killed jumping. Many of our email to each other had their names as titles. Then someone posted another jumper's name only as the title and every thought the worst at first read. Clicking on the email showed it was nothing important and it was more like a PM. Among our group we suggested that a persons name was not to be used in the title of a post. It's just what we do. And thought I would suggest it here. Chris
  15. This is the Maxim Roadtrip website. Some really good coverage of a visit to Skydive Chicago. Sorry Bill Booth, they thought you were the lawyer and a brother separated at birth from ZZ Top. See, good press does happen for skydiving once in awhile. Maxim Day Seven Chris
  16. I'm in if I have the day/weekend off. Chris
  17. I would like to ask people how they feel on this subject: The posting of people's names as the title of a post. Ok or not? As part of the TeamFunnel listbot we have an unwritten rule to never use someone's name solely as the title of a post. We feel this can cause anxiety because many times the news that follows is some sort of bad news announcement. We try to fashion the title without their name at all or with other phrases to let people know it's nothing negative. It's just a thought. How do other's feel? Chris
  18. Dave, if the group following you was also freeflying (I'm assuming) then you would have increased your separation from them by going flat. It would have given you moderate separation from the flat group that left before you. Good points and you are certainly concerned about separation and everyone's safety. Very good to hear. But, just from what you've described I think you would have been ok to dump at 6K and been ok. That is unless you had another plane dumping on top of you guys right after your plane got out of the way. Chris
  19. Chuck, totally speaking as someone who has never jumped a Birdman suit.......what kind of handle training is done with the suite on? What I mean is....Would it be recommended to actually go up on a mid hop and pop and actually pull those handles for real in the air. Or is this already done? Or would it be more hazardous to pull them for real in flight unless there was a real emergency? Chris
  20. Well, I certainly don't agree with no go around when asked for. You are gonna have to explain yourself then or later. But hey, the pilot is being payed to get you to altitude and make a good spot. If making a good spot means doing a go-around then that's what needs to be done. But as a jumper you have to explain clearly why you are calling for a go-around. I think that's fair. Chris
  21. Tough call there Dave. But if you all are giving proper separation time the group following should not be over the top of you. I'm assuming you went out AFTER the flat flyers, right? Going flat was probably the smart idea to assess the situation. At least you would be in a better position to dump the PC if the main decided to leave. Glad you guys posted the video PICS so everyone could get a visual. I bet many lurkers here are getting an eye full. Chris
  22. I would get her to a doctor ASAP. You don't know if she has a small fracture in that arm. Don't want to be alarming but if she's swelling up as you seem to make it sound get her to a Doc.
  23. I would suggest also talking to the pilot (BEFORE take off) about what the jump run has been up to that point, assuming this is not the first load of the day. Baring exact instructions from you they are likely to fly the jump run that they want. If you want something different then say something then. If you want a go-around then tell the pilot why you want a go-around. In a 182 you are sitting right next to him/her so there's no reason why you can't let them know with ease. By the way I read your post a JM and student got out just before you at the full altitude. Is this correct? There is no reason (barring clouds, aircraft passing underneath, open container in aircraft, something completely catastrophic) that you need a second pass for just 2 two-ways. It doesn't take much planning to accomplish. I would think that you would want to go out on your two-way before the JM and student. Why was it planned this way ahead of time to make two passes? Chris
