If you have ever rode the plane down...
jessd replied to gatorbait's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I rode the plane down on what would have been my category C-2 jump (or level 4). I did well on my 1st three jumps but got really nervous in the plane before this jump. It just didn't feel right for whatever reason. I think it was a combination of things: I hadn't jumped in 2 weeks, I was learning to spot (the door freaks me out), and it was to be the first jump with one instructor. I felt like a jackass afterwards - but I was far too nervous to jump. I'm sure if I could have gotten myself out the door I would have been fine, but, I made the decision to ride the plane down. They are only open Fri-Sun because all of the people who work there have "regular" full-time jobs. It does kind of suck when you get out early on a random day and you can't go there. But, let's just hope that the weather gets better. This rain is getting to be a bit too much. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

You may want to PM Staso. He's into speed skydiving. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Hi Chris - it was nice meeting you today. I felt all prepared to jump again after spending an hour reviewing with an instructor. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Yeah - I remember those. Everytime the ISD people come to my desk to help or install something I am reminded of those. "Just step aside". "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

I was pretty pissed when I called up there and they said that I shouldn't come. I too will be up there tomorrow. BTW - my phone is working just fine. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

What do your parents think of your skydiving?
jessd replied to andy2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thankfully my parents are very supportive. I did my first tandem the same day as my dad. It was his idea really - something he had always wanted to try. I had never seriously considered it before. At first my mom was skeptical and all she did was worry. I convinced her to go with me for my second tandem and that calmed her a little. I just started my AFF and both my parents offer support and encouragement. My mom loves to watch my AFF level A jump video - I think she has shown it to as many people as me. Since I have been second guessing jumping lately and have fears of my own it helps that my parents are supportive. Thank you. I have been looking online for flight prices and everything. I hope to figure out what I am doing within the next few days. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Thanks Wendy. I will look into it. There is still the small possibility that I will be vacationing with a friend or my sister. Does not look good though. I was really looking forward to going somewhere so I decided that I will go alone. Does anyone have any suggestions for other things to do in CA? I was out there last year but I spent most of the time driving down the coast from San Fran to San Diego - I did not really see/do too much. I called Jumptown this morning and they said that some bad weather was rolling in quickly. So, I will not be up there today to jump or meet you Chris. Manifest said that the weather looks good for tomorrow, except for the morning. So I will be up there then. Hope to see you there. I am actually considering doing this now. Which airport would I fly into to go to Perris? "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

You are going to be fine. Now if I could just take my own advise than maybe I too will be fine.I need to get some sleep so I can get up early in case the weather is nice. I hope to see/meet you tomorrow. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Gary was my classroom instructor too. He was great. You really thought that everyone looked alike? I just have a hard time remembering all of their names. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Awesome. So good to hear that you had a great time tonight. I will be there tomorrow - weather depending. I'm going to call in the morning and see what's doing up there. Who were your classroom instructor(s)? Did you meet more of the experienced jumpers? I'll take you up on that beer offer too. I rode the plane down on my AFF level 4 jump. I have not jumped since I did my first three levels. I am planning to go to the DZ tomorrow. I am going to try and spend more time than normal going over the jump and emergency procedures to help me feel more comfortable. From what I have been told from many experienced jumpers it is normal to have fear especially when you have not jumped in a while. Good luck. How does that work if I have already started AFF. Would I have to start all over again? "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

I was supposed to go on vacation with 2 friends in late June. Our plan was to go to southern CA for a week and then spend a couple of days in Vegas. As we were online last night getting ready to book our flight, one of them backs out and decided that he does not really want to go on vacation right now. ARGH - we were supposed to be staying with his friends while in CA - now the other friend can't afford to spend money on a hotel for the week. So now I am stuck with 1 1/2 weeks off from work and no where to go. So, I am thinking of going on a short vacation alone. Has anyone ever done this? I have gone camping alone, but, not an actual vacation and am curious to hear other people's opinions on their solo vacations. I am still on student status so spending the time skydiving at another DZ is not really an option. JT - you called it. I'll never make it out there. Awww...thanks Chris. I will be there in the morning. So far the weather is looking good. Let's just hope that this excitement I have right now does not get overtaked by my anxiety. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

WOOHOO!!! Let's hope for good weather. I need to get my butt back to Jumptown too. Hopefully this is the weekend. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Send me the pic if you want I will re-size it for you. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Hmmm...in that case. I would say between 6 and 12 beers. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Are you talking on average when we drink or how much we had today??? "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

I'd want more than one song though. I'll PM ya. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Sweet. Now if only I was not heading to bed in a few, I would sign on. I had a rough day at work which led to beers afterwards. I think I need to sleep. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."

Oh - so you are not going to charge me this time??? "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."
