I cannot believe it... One of my favorite publishers closed down. http://www.loompanics.com Palladin press (http://www.paladin-press.com/) just isn't the same as Loompanics. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

1) Owen Quinn 2) Mike McCarthy (not sure of this one) but NickDG claims its a person named "Van Refuse." From Nick: There will never be a WTC Towers #7. Owen Quinn, WTC #1 Van Refuse, WTC #2 Nic Feteris, WTC #3 (who also got the Statue of Liberty) John Vincent, WTC# 4 Thor Alex, WTC # 5 I know who it is, but I can't I tell you, WTC #6 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1047494;search_string=world%20trade%20center%20base;#1047494 Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

JD, Steve, and Kenn put me off on my first jump, a 600 foot cliff when I had ~38 skydives. After I went off, the three of them went off holding hands, all naked - or rather - nekkid. JD from what I understand started the whole trend of "Get vertical with Dew" adrenalin adds, that he had sent in to Moutain Dew. JD was helped by Nick B****r got BASE very quickly, either in a day or a week. JD's first jump was a building. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

This is a priceless quote. When I nearly died on a jump, I remember feeling like a complete terrified idiot right before impact. It was embarrassing. While in the hospital, I still vowed to not regret it though, since if I regreted it, it means I never understood the risks. And to me, I enjoyed the jump prior to things going poorly, and I'm glad I got something out of it, unlike a car crash. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

classic I only just took a photo of 1 of those signs on my phone at oktoberfest in munich over the weekend, seen quite a few of them around the place That page is funny. We've come a long way for the BASE community. Quoting from that page: Corporate Social Responsibility BASE’s view on Corporate Social Responsibility is that BASE is actively concerned with the welfare of society at large. It is our desire to have a positive impact on the people and communities in which we operate. We are currently designing a CSR programme which will clearly link our view of corporate social responsibility to our shared values, mission and vision. Some key elements we are taking into consideration are: Recognition and acceptance of individual, physical and cultural diversity (self-realization) Recognition and translation of basic human rights of self and others into "freedom of communication" (Freedom of Speech Acceptance of new ideas, experiences, and people (unconventionality) Understanding of the importance of volunteering in social and community activities (altruism) Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

A 42" PC near terminal is far from the design criteria for parachute deployment. The deployment can cause many problems since center cell stripping is so pronounced compared to using smaller pilot chutes. On a side note, even if the attachment point broke from the canopy, the canopy would/should already be deployed enough to open. Consider doing a test with freestow tailpocket. While figure eighting the lines, drop the bend of the lines into the loop(s) below it. See how big of a knot that can be made and how easy or difficult it is to clear itself. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

If I was using that setup, I would prefer ponytail rubber bands far more. But, the tailpocket with the internal flaps is by far the best tailpocket system I have seen. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I wonder if coating the lines with vegetable grade silicone spray would reduce the chance of a tension knot. That type of spray makes the lines very slick. Edited to add: Get well Karina. Hang in there! I shattered one of my femurs and I can tell you this is pretty difficult to deal with. Sorry to hear about this. http://www.offheading.com/gpage3.html I especially like this quote: "in order to prevent possible fractural injuries due to the highly risky nature of jumping off cliffs , they had to be totally drunk. Everybody knows that when you're drunk, the chances to brake bones due to a fall, are a lot smaller than when you're sober! The pioneers had this knowledge and used it..." Pretty funny. Before Carl jumped, Phil Smith launched from El Cap on stilts. Phil Mayfield then ran off walking on his hands. The stilts and the pogo stick were tied off to be retrieved. The video is BASE 1, the one that started it all in BASE jumping. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174
