I believe it's called a sliding wire rope grab. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

How could someone claim to climb that fast to 1000 feet given that he weighs 210 pounds? It doesn't seem feasible to weigh that much and climb that fast. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

don't drown. to udder, i imagine the pack volume for a round with mesh and tapes would be immense. to BASE 104, I miss John Hoover. I was at his funeral. If you have a picture of you and him, I would greatly appreciate a scanned image of it. thanks Chris Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I have > 300 antenna climbs, most to 1000' and some to 2000'. There is only one jumper I know of that could climb faster than the elevator. He built the 2000' tower we were on and he showed me by climbing the ladder while I rode the elevator. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I don't know of professional rock climbers that can climb that fast. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

Dude, that's a 52 inch parainnovator pilot chute in the right hand and an 8 foot round in the left. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

NASA is currently hiring parachute designers etc for their next generation manned spacecraft, ie an Apollo-like craft with a parachute recovery system. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

Steve Morrell (BASE 174) used to use a small triangular single skin parachute that is used for people who fall out of racing boats. He did freefalls from 90 feet with the parachute in hand. It had to be over water though because the thing was too unstable and landed too hard. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I believe it a 16 foot round from what I recall and it was Rick Harrison, not Randy. The round had it's apex pulled down to increase the inflation speed, but the thing spilled air so badly that it oscillated terribly. They also carried 8 foot round parachutes in their left hands to use as last case scenario reserve parachutes. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

oh they're my favorites! i knew this turkish guy who came into the office claiming that all american men were gay. his explanation to everyone was that he hired a street prostitute who happened to be a man - and therefore that meant all american men are gay. I graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango last year. While there, I sang with the Native American Choir and was able to make some contacts. Even though I'm Cherokee instead of Dine, those contacts might be willing to listen based off the work I did with the choir. I'd be willing to pitch something to them if it was totally respectful of the tribe and its beliefs AND did something positve for the tribe. No promises, but I'd be willing to try. And who knows, maybe by the time something got worked out, I'd have enough BASE experience to go for my E.

Of course I would do 10 jumps a day if possible. It's just not easily possible where I actively jump. almost every single jump i've done was a single jump so it has taken a lot of time and effort to get 477 base jumps. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

skinny little John Hoover, BASE 95, broke through a window on a 180 building strike, landed on a guys desk, got dragged back out by turbulent winds with the canopy hanging outside the building, hit the building twice, and made a crash landing on a 2 story building, tied his canopy lines onto the top of the 2 story buidling, skimmied down the lines, and ran away, essentially uninjured. being thin (yes, I could stand to lose about 20 pounds but my work requires chronic long term sitting) is really required for any extreme endeavor. it is especially useful for doing aerials. body control really suffers from any extra weight. that and it really adds to the safety margin when weight is low and the body is rubbery childlike. even a little extra weight stresses the joints heavily and can cause terrible injuries. lose weight. it's the safest way to ensure that you won't break any bones on a terribly hard landing. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

why would you want to go out base jumping if you that ground crew following you around? it seems that there are better things to do with three women at one time... Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

That's beautiful and terrifying. I could not imagine traversing the arctic solo for so long. My father used to say "patience comes to those who wait." I once tripped on exit off a 350 foot cliff. Darn pebbles... How did you jump down with extra gear? Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

Have a rigger strength test the material, using a clamp and fish scale the way riggers test older reserve canopies. Jump it on a skydive if it passes those inspections. Convince your friend not to jump in non-easy landing areas since the vent technology without the flaps can produce hard landings.
