    Carnage Video

Some of the footage on that video was taken without permission from me. It was never ever meant to be shown. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174
  2. communication is also broken into 4 separate acts... 1) coming up with the thought in one's mind 2) speaking the thought 3) the other person hearing the words 4) the other person interpreting those words with 4 weak links required to convey a thought, it's amazing we ever communicate at all. 3. the reason base is addictive is because it's not only fun but it's also somewhat emotionally traumatic. any emotional trauma gets played over and over in the head. that mixed with the fun of it means you will crave it more and more, becoming a major addiction. Sick Shit

yes, all I need to do is invest in a 20u sewing machine and a harness machine, set up a loft, buy all the necessary other tools, spend day after day learning to deal with fabric take up, blah blah blah and there, yes, we'll all be able to make rigs. in actuality, making a soft suitcase base rig was my project when i got trained in the loft, but the harness machine was damaged and wouldn't work for me. i simply couldn't find the carbon steel part that was broken. it seemed like so much of a time investment beyond what i could faithfully do. 5. 7 days without a base jump... that's a quote from Mark Hewitt, BASE 46... the inventor of the direct bag, co-inventor of the Sorcerer rig, inventor of the line-mod, the pseudo-inventor of the mesh slider... Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174
  6. i really don't know any base jumpers who are lazy. driving hundreds of miles, climbing up things, scoping things out... i hope the rest of the jumper population understands the importance of being able to make the rescue in a quick and safe manner. cutters are one emergency item that can allow this. beyond this would be various other items such as splints and a collapsable backboard. 7. park far away but carry cutters. what if the ambulance does not have cutters? have you had to deal with someone or yourself with a serious injury? Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174
  8. Looks good and congratulations! A base rig that looked like a soft briefcase would be my next rig if it was available. Interestingly, I believe Marta Empinotti did not pursue the TSO on the innovative Sorcerer rig because of the cost. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174
  9. what if someone got hurt? would you endanger them by carrying them all the way out? wouldn't it better to at least have the option of getting a vehicle close to the site? Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174
  10. talk to a master rigger. he or she can guide you in the correct rigging direction. such rigging issues should be asked online in the rigging forum of dz.com but a face to face interaction with a master rigger would be far safe and far more productive. 18. I was looking at a video recently of a couple jumps I made. one was with a regular pin base rig and the other was one is longer and has more of an aerodynamic profile. my body position looked identical for both jumps. however, for the longer more profiled rig, there a noticable improvement in the track. i wouldn't have guessed it would have been so significant. 20. i always felt my terminal base jumps were more technical than low slider down jumps. my terminal base jumps with a low pull were by far the most technical. for slider down, when you're low, your slow. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

    Going BIG

simply rules... in pounds, add 100 to equate to square footage of your canopy. add 20 if you plan on doing difficult cliffs or buildings. subtract 20 if you plan on antenna jumping with fairly easy landing areas and have to deal with the slightest head wind. example, 180 pounds = 280 ft^2. 260 for antenna jumping. 300 for dicey cliffs or buildings...
