Those requirements are nuts. And the fee is crazy too. I will be at the top with a gun shooting organizers if they try to pull this crap. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

Small rounds with apex pulled down by a center line... Also, some of the 8 foot round reserves I believe were custom made One can buy tiny rounds (some with the apex pulled down) from hang glider reserve manufacturers. They oscillate like crazy though. When I met Peter in Italy with Space, I thought to myself that Peter was the most hardcore extremist and athlete that I have ever met, by far. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

On another note, I wish the spandex pouch on the bottom of our rigs had a release system with a spring mount. I had a pilot chute extraction problem that nearly cost me my life. Being able to pull a handle like a reserve handle is a lost shot option to release the spandex and spring the pilot chute via a launch plate-like assembly. It's the Italian Terminal Wall. It's very tall and overhung. A typical delay is 10 seconds and there is a several minute canopy ride straight to a field across from a bar. It's one of the easiest big walls to get to. Outrager's avatar I believe is from ITW. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

Why? Isn't Norway a better place for this? Isn't the ITW too fragile of a site to put it in jeopardy? The ITW does not allow a huge amount of vertical separation to make this a nondeadly success. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I made the same mistake and usually I just pulled the toggle down so hard that it cleared the jammed white loop. Me rigging it this way was just a dumb mistake that revealed my lack of knowledge of my own equipment. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I've met: 1) Norman Ramsey (1989 Nobel Physics Prize) 2) Glenn Seaborg (Nobel Chemistry Prize, discoverer of plutonium) 3) Bill Wilson (Nobel Physics Prize for laser cooling techniques) 4) Rick Smalley (Nobel Chemistry Prize for buckyballs) 5) Robert Kurl (Nobel Chemistry Prize for buckyballs) 6) Steven Weinberg (Nobel Physics Prize) 7) Eric Cornell (Nobel Physics Prize) 8) Sheldon Glashow (Nobel Physics Prize) 9) Wolfgang Ketterly (Nobel Physics Prize) 10) Harold Varmus (1989 Nobel Medicine Prize) The Nobel Ceremony is very cool. It consists of a very long party with lots of funky opera with clouds projected on the ceiling all night. The wine flows and people party really good and even converse with King and Queen of Sweden. http://www.cofc.edu/~wraggj/skydive_hist.html I googled "skydive watermelon" and Jeff Wragg's website came up. I got the photo by searching the webpage for watermelon, dive #69, or as said in Chinese "tu kan chu." Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I'll sell my BASE number. The bidding starts at $15000. Any takers? Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

I recently learned that jumpers years ago used to use oranges as skyballs. I was particularly amused to learn that sometimes watermelons were used. Any thoughts? Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

From what I recall that was Jessica Kluetmier. The load consisted of Eric S., Andy C. (of past Bridge Day fame), and Steve Mulholland (RIP). Jessica did a slider down either without the line mod or with a poor toggle setup with the line mod, since the toggle did not release. She broke several vertebre on impact on this BASE demo. 1) having multiple rigs packed multiple ways without clear labels as to how it was packed. 2) using the white loop on the LRT system when going slider up. 3) not attaching the PC to the centerline sewn loop and using the side tapes instead. Those are a dream... Lago del desierto! I would love just to at least hike in the area. I've been south of there before, down in Ushuaia. Fin del Mundo.

What were the local winds doing? You look like you are in a perpetual stall. Have you inspected the canopy? Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

caps added for emphasis: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PACK YOUR PILOT CHUTE THIS WAY. THIS IS REFERRED TO AS THE BURRITO PACK AND HAS CAUSED SIGNIFICANT PILOT CHUTE HESITATIONS THAT HAVE NEARLY RESULTED IN SEVERAL FATALITIES! Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

The speed at 1 second is clearly wrong. The acceleration due to gravity is ~20mph per second until wind resistance plays a factor, particularly around 4 seconds. At 1 second, a jumper is going ~20mph. At 2 seconds, ~37-40mph. Looks like a death sandwich without the bread - Steve Deadman Morrell, BASE 174

If I had had more skydiving experience and especially more canopy experience, I would not have had the injuries I've had BASE jumping. Period. Now I walk with a slight limp and I paid a lot of money for injuries that I could have prevented by just making skydives.
