  1. Tandems should make you sick. You should be happier doing AFF. If you get sick in the plane, that's one thing. If you got sick under canopy it was the tandem harness, and that happens to a lot of people. I used to get motion sickness real bad. I got over it when I learned to fly. Stay away from the drugs and bullshit home remedy stuff. Just try and relax.
  2. I wasn't talking about you. You are doing just fine. Keep up the good work.
  3. You are going to have to pack that parachute sooner or later... You have to be real busy to justify having two rigs and if you want to get good at flying your canopy, you need to jump that canopy and not switch back and forth. Save your bucks and keep jumping what you have. Don't feel bad about not being able to land in a 20' circle. Most skydivers can't.
  4. Stand up straight. Put you hands on your hips, on your waistline at they 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock position. Look straight ahead and very slowly push your hips forward. To keep from falling you will naturally keep your head and shoulders over your feet. Breathe slowly and feel the front of your hips stretch as you do this- If you tense up and hold your breath you will not stretch and will strain yourself. When you get to your limit of flexibility, stay there and try to get comfortable. Just breathe softly and try to relax into the position. Repeat as many times as you comfortably can. When you arch properly in freefall, it isn't a thing that requires a muscular exertion, like when you practice it lying down. You just relax into it. Personally I don't recommend you practice it lying down- I think it is counterproductive as it encourages excess tension. If you flying reasonably within your range, you shouldn't be sore from arching unless you are overly tense- check that, too.
  5. I don't think anyone really cares if you kill yourself through your own ignorance. Like the man said- not all the baby turtles make it to the sea... We all go through that stage where nobody can tell us anything, and hopefully we grow out of it before something bad happens.
  6. Stick and Rudder by Wolfgang Langewiesche. Best book on flying ever for the recreational pilot. If you really want to nerd out, read Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators. Won't help you much with flying a parachute though. Just make sure you understand that your canopy does not know or care which way the wind is blowing. Helps with the crosswind and off field landings...
  7. Gee, I'm sorry to hear you live next door to that particular A-hole. But, the particular A-hole I am alluding to is trying to destroy MY country and that is why WE get emotional about it.
  8. Perhaps the poster is referring to this? http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/
  9. Whoops. I mad someone sad. Let's see, how about... "With Idi Amin being a product of Chicago politics..." I mean I only have a few choices here. Turn that frown upside down! After 9/11 I referred to Bush's administration as the fourth reich numerous times! Make you feel better? Or does that sort of characterization only work one way?
  10. Yeah, your right... After all, with Mugabe being a product of Chicago politics I am sure he is completely honest and forthcoming. A politician would never lie or use distraction to get an agenda across. Rainbows, bunny rabbits, wee!
  11. I'm an acoholic. If you learn to skydive, buy gear and make a bunch of jumps, you can intimidate lower experienced jumpers into giving you free beer.
  12. Well done! Sailed right over my head...
  13. "I hear that you do. All of your kind do." Wanna be more specific? Have any particular "kind" in mind? Or just someone who disagrees with you? I'd really like to know.
  14. Now that's just silly. He's just another lying politician. I don't believe in conspiracies and no one in their right mind should.
  15. Indeed, he knows what he is doing. He is tearing down a system that created the most powerful and wealthy nation on the Earth... Do we deserve this? Not people like me who work for a living and will be supporting his minions. However, I digress. He knows what he is doing, he is doing what he thinks is right, but he doesn't have a FUCKING clue what the true consequences of his policies are.
  16. Q. Does Obama have a fucking clue? A. No.
  17. Balkanization. Coming to a USA near you.
  18. I am surprised no one has mentioned something yet. Static Line students are by themselves from their first jump. While they may be assisted by a JM in the plane and given radio guidance on the way down, they know that they did everything themselves as opposed to "being attached" to someone (booo, gay...) on their first jump. This makes for a more confident end product. AFF is a little better in this regard, however... It definitely disgusts me when an experienced jumper refuses to get out unless they are above 3,000. weenies.
  19. If you want to dump in a track, check that you are actually decelerating to a safe speed in a track first. Then when you deploy, sit up slightly so you reduce the angle of your container to line of deployment to 90 degrees. Now you are deploying your parachute the way it was designed. I deploy this way and have fine openings. You do pendulum back under your inflated canopy a bit but it is no big deal. Don't do this unless you can understand what I'm describing, and make sure you are slowing down your airspeed from one that provides comfortable openings otherwise.
  20. In regards to "the sound of a shotgun racking scaring someone off"... An instructor of mine told me, "Sure it sounds scary and reassuring. Until from out in the darkness all you hear are the clicks of two safeties snapping off..." Don't know if he came up with it, but it sure made me laugh..
