Did you get to take one of the hotties, or did you get stuck with one of the guys?? I have to agree with one of the previous posts, it looked like they were comin in pretty fast. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

Frontier is my home DZ. We offer straight AFF, or a tandem/AFF progression. Last year it was $285 for the FJC and AFF Level 1. It might be a bit more this year, but I'm not sure. We follow the ISP and use the two page proficiency card. You pay on a jump-by-jump basis, as opposed to a package. Lots of Canadians jump here, and several call it their home DZ. Let me know if you have any other questions. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

Does anyone know if Perris offers shuttle service to/from the Ontario airport? I sent them an e-mail, but I haven't gotten a reply yet, so I figured I'd try asking here. Thanks. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

I noticed a similar problem on my Spectre if I didn't slow down enough and/or completely flare out of my track. I think line trim plays a part in it too, because it didn't start happening until I had a couple hundred jumps on the canopy. We don't jump in the winter, we have a grass runway. Official opening weekend is the first weekend in May, but we're usually jumping in April as long as it's not too wet. PM or e-mail me if you have any other questions. Hope to see you in the spring. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

How can you not love a country that has two totally different names. Plus the term used for people from the country has nothing to do with either name. This is one of the things I think about when I'm alone and the power goes out.

There's a DZ just outside Rochester. I can't remember the name, but I'm pretty sure they jump year round. Then there's the coolest DZ in WNY--Frontier Skydivers. It's about 40 minutes from Buffalo, kinda near Niagara Falls. We're open May through October. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

Summer Song by Joe Satriani C'mon Along by Rik Emmett (used it on my 1st jump vid, along with Head Case by Rik Emmett) Superman by Three Doors Down Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz--This was the most popular song for videos at my DZ in 99 when I started, now every time I hear it I think of jumping and fun at the DZ. I think I'm gonna go listen to it now! Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

I've never bought into the whole 'ask someone else what canopy you can handle' theory of canopy buying. None of those people are going to be under that canopy looking at the ground coming up much faster than you've ever seen before. If you're looking to downsize, I'd recommend you borrow/rent a canopy one size smaller than what you're currently jumping and put some jumps on it. If you can consistantly land safely and want more speed, go down to the next size. Repeat until you find a canopy you feel comfortable with. You'll be much happier than if you drop two or three sizes based on someone's recommendation and find yourself scared shitless under canopy. PD charges $30, you get to keep the canopy for two weekends, you are responsible for return shipping. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

Black topskin, Red bottom skin, Silver ribs and stabilizers. It seemed like a good idea, now I just have to see what it looks like in the air. Uhhh...shit, I guess I'm busted. Man, it's been a while since I owed beer. So how does the whole buyin beer thing work at a DZ that has a bar??? At home you just show up at the fire with a case, but I'm guessin they'd frown on me walkin into the Bombshelter with one. You guys probably don't have Labatt's in CA, huh? Well, I'm sure we'll figure somthin out.

I got my new canopy today!!!! WoooHooo!!! I'm the proud new owner of Sabre 2 #749. If it wasn't for the fact that I'd never get it back in that plastic bag I'd spread it out and roll around in it. Wow, I really need to jump. I'm losing my mind. Now I just need to get my reserve repacked, get my main hooked up, and count the days until my vacation next month. OK, you're forgiven.

In addition to all the neat snow, sales tax in Erie county is 8%. How do we live in this shit? Believe it or not, you get used to it. Not the 7 feet in one week thing, that's never happened before. In fact that's right around our previous one month high for snowfall. Why do we live in this shit? I'm not quite sure. It beats the hell out of earthquakes and brush fires though. I'll be there Feb 11 thru 13. There's a bunch of us coming from the frozen tundra. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

Due to crappy weather I don't have the new Skydiving yet. I do have a Dash M though and I'm wondering what this is all about. I checked Precision's website and I couldn't find anything. More info please. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

I'd like to have some sympathy for you, but I live just outside Buffalo,NY. It's in the 20's and we've gotten 7 feet of snow in the past week. It's great, they have done stories about it on The Weather Channel, CNN, The Today Show, and god knows what other national shows. To add insult to injury, I got a call last Wednesday that my canopy is complete and was being shipped, unfortunately the Buffalo airport was closed for days after that so I haven't gotten any mail or other deliveries. BTW, how does PD ship canopies? FedEx? I won't have a chance to jump it til my vacation in February, but not owning a canopy is starting to freak me out. I sold my Spectre the first week of December. Well, I'm done ranting now. I hope everything goes well when you do get back in the air. Maybe we can make a jump together when I'm out there in Feb. Happy New Year. Dude, you don't know the exact date?!?!?!? Forgetting a birthday or anniversary is one thing, but the date of your first jump? July 18, 1999 was my first jump, nothing's been quite the same since. Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

OK this is a little off topic, but I'm amazed at how many new skydivers there are. Slightly more than two years ago my name was in Rising Fallers for my A license. A33527 The last number listed this month is 39611--over 6,000 A licenses issued since I got mine. It's great to see so many people getting into the sport. I've had two canopies out twice. The first time they were in a side-by-side, so I chopped the main and landed the reserve. The second time I had a nice biplane, so I landed em both. Touchdown is awfully soft with 560+ square feet of canopies over your head! Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

Congratulations on a wise decision Chris. As a fellow ex-smoker (10 yrs, pack a day for most of em) I totally understand the willpower required at the beginning. One positive note is that the desire to smoke decreases with time. At least it did for me. After a couple months I had almost no interest in smoking, except in high stress situations. Now, four years later, you couldn't pay me to smoke a cigarette. Well, maybe if you were offering tons of cash. :-) Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH

I've always used the same nickname/screen name, whatever you want to call it. I've been around since late 99 or early 00, I just lurk way more than I post. :-) Mike D-23312 "It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." JMH
