That brought back a funny memory. At a dz I worked at years ago this guy named John....42 yo biker...comes out and takes the SL course. Very soon he has 25 jumps and "skydiving was his life". He showed up at the dz one saturday with this tattoo on his right calf. It was an open rainbow colored square with jumper hanging under it. It covered the back and sides of the entire calf. He broke his ankle soon thereafter and we never saw John again. I did see his gear....the kid he sold it to was using it. I wonder how that tat looks today. Another note in relation to the original question. I'm the only one still jumping of my original crowd of ten. Most only made it a couple years....a pair did ten. bozo Pain is fleeting. Getting banned from a dz is not what you would call "common". It happens....for any number of reasons. Your incident for an example. The last time I was banned was because I wouldnt install an AAD. There are lots of reasons. The DZ belongs to the DZO and he makes the rules. The good thing about it is, that there are DZs all over the place. You took that chance when you posted here. As someone has already stated. His DZ. His rules. That doesnt make him any less of an ass. If this little incident causes you to leave skydiving you didnt love the sport as much as you thought you did. Look at it this way way...you owe beer for getting kicked off your first drop zone. A lot of us older jumpers have paid ours.

And maybe Douva stepped on the toes of those of us that have spent our entire adult lives in skydiving. Working, training, giving back. Floridadiver might be a little radical in his new obsession but there is no reason to shit all over his shoes at this stage. He will figure things out on his own, sooner or later. Sometimes ya get caught up in a cult and the only way out is to drink the kool-aid.

Thats odd. I dont feel deluded nor cultish. And I'm having a tough time picking which "truth" it is that's the only one I know. [replyLast night I was watching a documentary on cults, and one of the points it kept making is how cultists always manage to convince themselves, no matter the circumstances of their own lives, that they have it much better than the people in the outside world. As long as they have a "truth" to which they can cling--some constant that gives their lives perceived meaning--nothing else matters to them.
