  1. Mike Carpenter will be at Hinton for Freefly coaching this weekend. Luigi will also be there for canopy courses on the friday, Saturday and Sunday. Limited slots so please contact Maddy at Sales@dzsports.com to book your slot. Should be an awesome weekend .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  2. The thing is, the original poster holds an awesome sit, awesome exit, awerness and heading, transitions.... Should he have to go for FS1? His qualification in france is the same, why does he have to do it here again? I did it when i first arrived only by fluke of doing a 4-way with some lads. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  3. Can someone point me in direction for the vendors list and aircraft fleet please? .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  4. I now remeber part of his logic..... It wa that freefliers generally have smaller canopies. (that was only part of it.) When he explained it, he did diagrams for me and it made sense, just not as much sense as FS being out first. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  5. Yeah there is nobody at hinton that freefly and jump small canopies. Most of the boys jump 114 and above. I have never come across anybody who freefly at hinton and pull low either. First group of freefliers out pull no lower than 3k. The boys that freefly at Hinton are also pretty good these days. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  6. You are just eager. It is a long walk!! People should not make personal judgements on others characters because they have different ideas or lack of education in the topic being discussed. Dont worry about posts like that. Just enjoy the walk. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  7. That was just there in case he reads it. He explained it to me one day but i am kind of closed minded to listening to logic about putting out FF first as a christian would be to becoming a mormon. Emo, is a great bloke, excellent experience and a stand up guy. I really was welcomed to the dropzone by him when i first arrived and he made the transition very easy for me. This though, i never really agreed on. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  8. Headcorn, Langar and hinton, and i am pretty sure with Emmo at weston that there too will be putting FF out first. I like Emos logic but Bill's seems more investigated. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  9. Apart from the party's and the drinking, what is special about this WFFC? I ask this as a serious question, as i am not from the states and the only other boogie i have attended in the states is Eloy. From all the other boogies i am reading about this seems very expensive(fair enough with Betsy's reply) but i do not see anything really that is special for skydiving, apart from the Jet if it turns up. Another question... Will this boogie have at least 1000 jumpers there? I feel a bit gutted that there are no vendors there after we spend so much money getting there and now it seems the big attraction of the WFFC (trying new things) is not available. I wish i had investigated this before rallying up a group to come on this thought that i thought it was about. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  10. I have a severe problem with putting FF out before FS. Here's an excerpt from Bill Von Novak's article on exit separation: http://www.dropzone.com/content/Detailed/628.html . "Another issue that has become more important lately is exit order. Some places still put freeflyers out first, and that doesn't make much sense. In 30kt uppers, a belly flyer who leaves 10 seconds and gets out after freeflyer will open 100 feet from him, but if the belly flyer goes first and the freeflyer leaves the same time he will open 2200 feet from the freeflyer. RW groups, since they are in freefall longer, drift farther downwind before opening. It seems like a no-brainer to choose an exit order that used this to your advantage and increased, rather than decreased, separation distances. You can certainly wait 20 seconds after the freefly groups before the belly groups exit if there is some other reason why the freeflyers have to exit first, but at most DZ's it's hard to ensure that 20 seconds, especially since waiting so long almost guarantees long spots or a goaround." Also, you will want to review this article about exit order. http://www.omniskore.com/freefall_drift2.html It is is based directly on the output of John Kallend's freefall simulation program set found at: http://www.iit.edu/~kallend/skydive/ I agree with you, after reading those articles a month ago i become even more concerned about the exit order. It is dangerous but is the way it is done at the dropzones i have visited in the uk. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  11. They will never change the landing area rule by bringing the jump numbers down and that they should not ither, Far to much turbulence coming from the hangers and the runway as well as the landing area being right next to a car park. The only people who should be landing in that area are experienced canopy pilots. Just cause some people have the jump number in no way means they have a right to land there. you have camera pilots swooping in, fences, car park(public road), turbulence, hangers, crowds of people. If there were people with under 100 jumps landing in that area i for one would start landing in the student area. The walk back may have already saved your life. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  12. Ever since you started asking about the vendors I have been hoping you would stand up and ask this question. There is a group of us that have paid around $1300 US each just for the flights there, we know we will have a good PARTY but that was not our reason for going. We though all the vendors would be there and we would be able to demo the new Icarus reserve, jump a few other canopies and learn the wingsuit. To me the WFFC is sounding more like an event based around alcohol than it is skydiving. For the last 4 years all i have ever wanted to do was go to the WFFC, now it seems it is in the dying stages and Alcohol seems to be the only attraction (apart from the perris jet). I would like to know why the vendors are not coming wither as it looks like the vendors have got togethor and all said they do not want to be part of this or is it just coincidence that not one single big player in skydiving is their to promote their gear? 1000 plus skydivers and they are not their? There has to be a damn good reason for this. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  13. When was this?? You have been in the sport for a year? Hinton has had these rules since i first went there and that was a year ago this month. I think the rules will change at Hinton soon now that there is a new CCI. I hope they willl start letting RW out first instead of freefliers and also hope that they will abolish their 100 jump freefly rule and the rule that you must only atempt a sit with an ff1 coach and not atempt it solo. There are ways around that rule there but it is still in their rule book. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  14. I have seen people fail FS1 a few times and each time they paid all 4 slots. As another poster said, i guess it comes down to people on the dz and if they want to pay their own slots or not. There are many people out there who i will go sit flying with that do not have FS1. You do not need FS1 to sit fly. You need the relevant skills to be safe, but it does not have to be in the form of FS1. FS1 is not the be all and end all of safety. But hey, it is the way it is required in the UK so it is what you need to do in the UK. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  15. You are right there. It is, Skydiving is very expensive here. At my dz it is around $38 US dollars and you are lucky if you get 12k. not always, but yes, i think the whole vibe in the US is different as to here in the uk. Instructors need to make money with such bad weather conditions so i can understand it. Dont like it but understand it. Bob.dino, i respect what you are saying. I just don't agree that they should have to pass it before being allowed to jlearn to freefly. However, i do think tracking skills should be enforced first as well as a few other skils, just not neccessary the way it is done here. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  16. I think you will find this needs to be signed off by a BPA CCI and you will also find the majority of people doing this jump will expect there slot paid. Especially hard for the students who do not know anybody yet. I myself have my FS1, i also think i may be one of the only people in the uk to video my own FS1. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  17. I know the B-rels, we had them in new zealand, not any more. Very different from FS1 though. The 4 point 4-way is not as simple as it sounds. I know a heavy guy who has spent thousands of pounds on coaching. Cause he falls a lot faster than the other three he failed many times. Spent hundreds on tunnell time, as well as coaching and many slots for coaches. Just cause he has a faster fall rate and can not slow down, does that mean he can not freefly? FS1 may be simple to people with 200 odd jumps but not for someone that is sub 100 jumps. If you ddid not want to do rel work would you spend $800 AU (average) on learning how to complete a 4 way? would you be happy to be forced to do that? I think a simple B-rel table would be ideal but FS1 is a bit more advanced. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  18. faie enough. i dont think africans are going to hate on americans. there are so many countries there .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  19. You said she would not be missing anything. That is what i find very disturbing that you can say this. Americans have become very hated people in this world, we all know that but it does not mean she will not be missing anything. Africa is the place i am saving for when i retire. The dream of doing a 30 day safari would be the greatest thing in my life. You can not do that in america, unless a zoo of course .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  20. As an attractive, intelligent American woman, I would definitely avoid Muslim countries for the next 10 to 20 years. I doubt you'd be missing anything. Why??? You say that you doubt you would be missing anything anyway... That is a very small minded thing to say. If she thinks the way you think i would advise to never leave america. I think your comment was disgusting. Indonesia and africa are 2 amazing countries with cultures and traits your country could learn alot from. Africa is the greatest place on earth. I suggest you do not go to any other country apart from your own thinking the way you do. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  21. Sure, The other 3 jumpers are only experienced instructors if you can afford the £80 for the attempt at the dive. If not they are your friends who may have just passed FS1. It is not the easiest 4 way dive either. You are the one to do all the work. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  22. Bill, is that en educated reply? Cuz I was just about to make the same points - we have an 18 jump program that does include a sit exit for exactly the uneducated response you gave... Maybe I am just jealous of the "freeflyers" since I am just a meager instructor who only freeflys occasionally. I'm not in a bad mood, just tired of the ... Who ever said Bills answer was uneducated? .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  23. Bill, in now way did i imply you were not educated in your answers, i was trying to say those were the answers i was looking for but someone seems to have it in their head that i am having a go at you. This aff course has actual sit fly exits. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  24. He is talking about FS1 not just basic belly flying skills. He is talking about being able to pull out 4 point 4ways in order to gain this qualification. If you think FS1 is a must before learning to freefly can you tell me why it is not in the states? .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
  25. You can rent a motorbike for 24 hours, a cabin on the beach for a night for a total of about 4us dollars if i remember correct. (thailand). Thailand is so cheap and a haven to travel. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
