I never ventured right down there. I am heading back in december though this time will go to Chang Mai and then probably fly down to Samui again and see if i can get lost in the middle of the island again for 2 nights going around in circles and up and down cliffs pushing a little motor bike again. Awesome, the hiking will be brilliant and sounds like you will be there before all the tourists. during tourist season when it is peaking the trails can have more people on them that the city streets and really not be as good as it should be. For the days you are spending in the north island make sure you do not spend more than a day in auckland city and if you do spend the day in auckland city get on a public bus and go to Mount Eden, one tree hill, devenport, waiheke island, great barrier island, devenport.. the city is very boring itself. You would love the coromandel, it is only an hour and a half drive from the city as well. While around ChCH i would suggest hiring a car for the day and taking a drive to Kaikora, this place you can go swiming with hundreds of dolphins all at once in the ocean. Sorry i can not help you with flying, maybe when rhys gets online he will know of some of the saller airlines around the south island but i think you will be stuck with Air New Zeland. My cousin is a travel agent there so i will send her an email asking for any tricks of the trade about flying around there and get back to you. No matter what you do i am sure you will love the country, just try and not waste days in the cities, they are all the same in every cuntry. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
