Pilots are NOT "dime a dozen"!
bigway replied to JumpShipGypsy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Never said US dollars did I? 100,000 pounds a year is about 350,000 New Zealand dollars. I for certain no some people who earn this flying for an Airline. Yes they are senior captains closing in on retirement and No they are not US airlines. I will admit i did think it was a standard salary dfor Captains with major airlines world over. .Karnage Krew Gear Store . -

A commercial airline pilot gets paid 350,000 per year. If you have to spend some years getting to that level flying skydivers for peanuts who gives a shit? At least you have the opportunity to get there. None of us skydivers have that opportunity to turn our career into something that pays that well. Hell, you should be paying us for giving you the damn opportunity and giving you the path to get there by us letting you fly us to altitude. .Karnage Krew Gear Store . -
i was using 86 quid a month for a full year of multiple skydiving. this was covered by harrisson and beaumont 86 quid for a year, with as much skydiving as i wanted for multiple trips worldwide, had a payout as well .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

they are sending me samples with my logos on them. Free gloves, thats why. Thanks for the reply, did not realise they were like that. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

Anyone have any dealings with them? I am finding them to be very unreliable at the moment with responding to emails. Can anyone share experience with skydiving gloves from them? Ta .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

I dont expect less. I expect the same great safe service i get on every flight to altitude from our mates that fly us up to drop point while they are very happy to have the chance of getting their hours up and living the lifestyle with us while they are doing it. .Karnage Krew Gear Store . -

Bull shit. Most full time jump pilots are building time to get a better job. There are some who do it for fun. Heck i still fly at one DZ sometimes when im home. And i fly for free. The other pilots who fly there are bankers and doctors and fly free too. Just for fun. Most pilots who fly for a living will not stay for the "lifestyle" of the DZ, they will move on to something that pays better. It's a lifestyle. Skydivers also do it for a living and to get their skydiving ratings and try to move up in the world of skydiving but we aint rich either. It's a lifestyle. If you dont like it go and get your hours up somewhere else. No way am i going to agree with your logic and pay more for a slot so you can use us, get paid more money and then leave us to higher income. "they were your words". while you leave us behind paying after helping you earn more money and then leave the sport to get rich flying for private airlines. What sort of logic are you trying to preach. If you want to pay more for your slot, give it to the pilot. I pay my slot and thats that, i aint helping you get rich so you can turn your back on our sport while we are not making much ourselves and spending all of our livelyhood on doing what we love. Go moan to the dzo's, dont preach to the poor about us giving you more money. .Karnage Krew Gear Store . -

Pincheck, were never talking about BPA MEMBERSHIP. Were talking about 'A' license. You said he has to have a USPA 'A' License converted to a BPA 'A' license to jump in the UK if he is a resident. I dont recall ever discussing this issue before. Membership, maybe but not having to convert your FAI license. 2 different things mate. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

Someone going to jump in the uk for the first time from another country can buy a one off one month temp membership. After that they pay the full fare everytime they visit. Starting the 1st april jumpers that are residence from EU countries and have a license from there country as well as insurrance are allowed to jump in the uk without BPA membership. However this is not about membership, this thread is about the License/AFF and Pincheck is saying that if you are a resident of the UK that not only do you need BPA membership but now you must also have a BPA license and that an international FAI license is not acceptable and that it must be converted to a UK license. I would really like to hear if this is correct or not because there are so many british jumpers who are british residence who hold licenses from NZ, OZ, USA etc that i know who have never been told over the years they have been back in the uk that they need to convert to a UK license. Would love to have this cleared up. As far as i know if you have an internationally recognised FAI license that you do NOT have to then go and get a uk issued license. That would just be scrapping the bottom of the barrel having a law like that. Hey, i may be wrong and there may be shit loads of people in the uk breaking this requirement if it is in fact that. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

skydiveauckland.com $8500 NZD for aff plus 200 jumps including 40 coach jumps and free accommodation for 3 months. Can not be beaten. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

you dont need a BPA license to jump in the uk. You just need a Fai ( i think that is the right initials) license and BPA membership. An fai 'a' license is an 'a' license no matter how you look at it. every country has different requirements but an 'a' license is an 'a' license. You do not need to be converted to a bpa license when you return either. Why do you say that you must have a BPA 'a' license? You got it mixed up with a bpa MEMBERSHIP i think. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

fixed it for ya Should the FL not be changed to USA is one giant trailer park? .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

Yes it will be recognised. Just get yourself the 'a' license before turning up in the uk. Maybe also an extra 20 odd jumps just in case. Short answer, yes it will be recognised but get the license. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

The current sale ends in April. You need to get in quick though as they are selling fast. Remember the sale is only on their stock canopies. A Manufacturer is not going to have many stock canopies in stock for the popular sizes now are they, the poular sizes are the first to go to the people who do not want to wait the period for a custom to be built. Then a manufacturer is left with canopies in stock that are sizes not so popular so they have a clearence sale to try and sell these off for the new year. What i am trying to say is if you bought a Pilot 168 for example or 150 6 months ago, the value has not dropped to $960 If anybody here can purchase a brand new Pilot 168/150 from Aerodyne for under $1000USD with no coupons or vouchers or sponsorship and I will buy it for you. For people to say the pilot loses it's value because of a stock clearence sale, you obviously have not seen the sizes of canopies that are part of that clearence sale. There are a few Mambas there in that sale that would be an excellent purchase however. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
