Jesus...another line twist....
sundevil777 replied to TheJesus's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm just going on what he is saying on his stability. Even a student should be able to judge their own stability, at least to the extent that stability is needed for student canopies. Then again, he has said: I think he means Manta 280? Also, at 10 jumps he lists freeflying and CRW as his preferred discipline? It is very naughty to not follow the instructions of the attendants, didn't they tell you to put away all portable electronic devices when the door was closed? Jesus...another line twist....
sundevil777 replied to TheJesus's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have no idea what you are talking about, please explain. It is so easy to just say that line twists are caused by poor body position. This conclusion is usually very wrong for those jumping large, student type, low aspect ratio canopies. These canopies are very resistant to the bad effects of a poor body position, just like reserves are. The things you should be looking to are: Too short of a distance from riser to first stow, stows too tight (I don't mean they should be loose), placement of the risers in the main tray (should not wrap around/against the bottom of the reserve), canopy out of trim. These things can cause the deployment bag to lift off unevenly or get kicked into a spin as it gets pulled out of the container, or inflate unevenly. I can't understand what effect the chest strap would have. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I was getting at your weak step backwards. If your feet just barely clear the edge, your body/face can hit the back end of the floor if you are rotating or leaning forward. edit to add - Don't jump up, stepping strongly backward is what is important. Be careful, it would be really bad to hit the edge of the door with your head/body after a weak step back. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

I think an old style dytter is bad for students because it activates regardless of vertical speed. A new style dytter can be set to only have the final tone. Why does a student aquire better altitude awareness when they will probably never hear this tone? They should still be taught that their emergency procedures should be executed and they should be under reserve before the tone is heard. The dytter would just wake them up that they have to do it now. I just don't get it. Low Profile silver D VS. Soft Pad Reserve handle
sundevil777 replied to mraad's topic in Safety and Training
Ah yes, to pillow or not to pillow, that is the question... (often asked). I do not pillow for either the cutaway or reserve, and I like the low profile shown in the attachment. I got mine through Velocity Sports (Infinity), I've heard that it looks the same as Racers have offered/still offer. I like it much better than other triangular shaped alternative handles that I have seen. The small handle was not yet actually installed in the picture, just placed in the pocket, that is why the cable is exposed. It sure was easy to pull both of these a couple weeks ago. For those that deny any connection. Fox News report from an Iraq newspaper: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,100743,00.html A weekly newspaper in Iraq has a detailed account of how Saddam Hussein's regime, two months before the 9/11 atrocities, had nearly 100 Al Qaeda (search) members come to Iraq and train for future operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. An unnamed Iraqi officer -- save for his initial, "L" -- tells the Al-Yawm Al-Aakher newspaper that he was among those ordered to help train the -- "dear guests." He says Saddam's -- "senior Fedayeen officers visited [the trainees] constantly and inspected them almost daily." Then, the source says, "On April 5, 2003, orders were issued to send these individuals to the battle front immediately." So you think it is clear that riggers are not "instructed" to test the unit just because they can? It seems to me that many riggers would not want to risk their ticket by deciding for themselves which way to interpret "can". Would that leave jumpers with the possibility of riggers not wanting to repack a rig because they can't test it? I guess the answer is probably maybe, unless the FAA issues an opinion on this matter or the mfg is clearer with their "instructions". So as a question to riggers, what would you do? How do you think this will this be interpreted? "Can" is used instead of "Must'. So will it be considered maintenance recommended or required by the mfg? Does the FAA require that we follow all "recommended" or "required" maintenance? edit to add: I think it is a good idea to check it thoroughly at the mfg. A small percentage of units sent to SSK need some repair, presumably many of those self-check OK. Maybe a self test can't do everything. I'm going to be in a bad mood in 3 years when I have to send mine in, but I still think it is a good idea. The cargo hold is pressurized in commercial jets. That is a fact. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

It would be fun for the novelty of jumping a jet, but it wouldn't really be a good everday jump plane because you can't get many out the narrow door quickly and it fast speed would make for a lot of out landings. But, like I said, jet jumps would be popular at big boogies, and what better way to get there and take a few dozen friends? Don't you think Perris must have the runway length for it to take off empty? Doesn't seem wise to land at an airport that isn't long enough to allow a takeoff. You can read all those performance charts, is it allowed? Maybe Perris is really just a last resting place for this bird like Marana is for so many old jets. Sure would be a great way to get to all the Boogies! I used to say that Kapowsin got their Otter because their Porter just didn't hold enough stuff for their large family to travel comfortably. Maybe this is an exaggerated version of that. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. What plane do you think had an unpressurized cargo area? All modern commercial jets have a pressurized cargo area. Post your arrival date/time, you'll probably hook up with someone. There is the shuttle organized through the DZ, $70 if just for you, only $35 if 3 or more are sharing... http://www.skydiveaz.com/travel_info.htm#Airport Shuttle Service People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Coach jumps are required? I think that sucks! If by some miracle they are free, then I am out of line. You should be required to show proficiency, but lots of people without a coach rating can help you improve.
