  1. Did you see what Tracy Ullman did with Steven Hawking? They did a skit where he left his wife to live with an admiring student/intern, and then she gets tired of him because he's a pain in the ass. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. That is right, a concept. An object that has mass must be shoved with a force to accelerate it. The formula that defines it is F=ma. Mass is the measure of inertia.Quote An object's inertial mass is the same as what is normally just called, mass. But to say that inertia = mass is incorrect. The term rotational inertia does not = inertia. There is a formula for the rotational inertia of an object, it depends on how the mass is distributed about the axis of rotation, so it can be different for objects of the same mass. There are formulas for the area moment of inertia, but this stress mechanics term doesn't even involve the mass of an object. Inertia is a concept. It is not = mass. 3. EDIT: I should add that inertia and mass are identical up to a multiplicative constant that can be (and is) absorbed into the definition of the constant of gravitation. So, what are the units of inertia? If mass is a measure of it, then there is a formula, right? Please tell us more about multiplicative constants and absorbtion into the gravitational constant. Your reference is a bit vague about the definition of inertia. Can you show any examples of how an object's inertia is used to calculate anything about the dyamics of a body in motion? I don't think it is. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 4. From Websters dictionary: a property of matter by which it remains at rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless acted upon by some external force I don't think there is a formula for an objects inertia. In what units is inertia measured? Inertia is not momentum, it is not mass. 5. It is impoper to say that something has more inertia than something else. Momentum and Kinetic energy can be thought of that way, but not inertia. 8. Yes, it should be that way for everyone. I don't need a back up, but I choose to have one and use all of the 3 available tones. 9. And people are dependent on visual altimiters also. At least with an early audible warning, I will be reminded - early if my visual alti gets stuck. I think setting the first tone quite early 5-5.5K increases altitude awareness - even if the audible fails - because you anticipate/expect it to happen long before the ground looks close. The old Paralert beeped for 12 seconds, so I oculd set it to 4.5K and expect to be at about 2.5K when it quit, at least I like to use the end of the tone as another reference. 10. Pull force should be possible to evaluate by attempting to move the pin by pulling on the cable right at the pin. Of course you should be very careful to limit the movement, but I think it should be possible to know if the force is so high that further investigation/measurment is needed. 11. My last time at Wrigley was with Ferguson Jenkins, Ron Santos, and Don Kessinger, among notable others. I also went to a 1969 Cubs - Mets old timers game in Phoenix. Harry Carrey announced it too. Damn Mets. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 13. I cannot ever remember someone staying off a load because of high winds and a round reserve. I can remember praying that I didn't have to use mine when I went up on windy days. I am glad that doesn't happen anymore. Last 2 reserve rides have been so much more fun under canopy, and I don't like landing at 18 feet per second. 14. ParaFlite's advertisements for the early square reserves claimed that (I think my memory is right on this) square reserves do not suffer from any inherent malfunction modes. Like landing in water? Nothing like praying you don't break anything on landing as you descend on a tiny round. I think that the fear of having to smack in under a small round reserve is likely to have encouraged some to continue to try to fix main mals for too long. It is human nature that people will contemplate whether they would rather take the hard landing of a partially mal'd main, or the hard landing of a round reserve. Much better to know that your reserve can give you a nice gentle landing. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 15. Ever seen the figure 8, backwards driving (yes-truly backwards) with a ramp compact car races. That is fun to watch. 16. I thought that some races now have twisties, isn't that true? I liked the old CART series. It also didn't hurt that Honda dominated most years. 17. I also don't like the fact that so much is attributable to pit stops. They should just carry around however much fuel it would take to allow a race. In my opinion, a 20 minute final heat is plenty. Have some qualifiers and then keep the traffic down. Like motocross does for instance. No pit bullshit, just race with simple rules. I also like that in motocross, they don't stop just because of a crash. Yellow flags laps are just a little more boring than free throw shots in basketball, and they allow the field to catch up, so that when you take your pit stops in relation to yellow flags matters so much, total bullshit. 18. The way they change rules in order to prevent dominance by some, it is like telling Airspeed they can't wear booties because they have been winning too much. Total bullshit. It might as well be IROC where all the cars are identically prepared. Of course all the cars being bunched up is very exciting, and it promotes crashes. 19. You actually have to land it? Can you choose to land in water or deep snow? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  20. I wouldn't expect it to be easier at all. To some degree, it is just that the packing tool seems like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I wouldn't take much advice from a rigger that prefers a momentary in-tow on every jump. An opening that is staged in this manner will not be any softer, just delayed. Very bad idea. 21. Yes, hard housings are the only way to go. I would not expect many spinning mals to descend fast enough to activate a cypres. 22. Another way to prevent closing loop wear from extracting the pull-up... I pull enough extra of the closing loop through the last grommet so that I can put in the pin, easily press the loop against the grommet, and extract the pull-up without any resistance at all. You might think this means that my closing loop is too loose, but I think my closing loop is too tight if I can't do it. edit - I've only seen two others do this, any more? 23. I do not believe that a PC could have such a severe effect, especially if it is a kill-line. For Brumby: Did you happen to notice if your locking stows were broken? 24. let it unravel and trim it off once in a while. The wide tape type of pull-ups are brutal on closing loops. 25. Most of the rig mfgs make good versions of their rig in plus sizes, no problem at all. Maybe the only US exception to that is the Voodoo, I think that is not available for big canopy sizes. If you're buying new, you are not limited in your choices at all. edit to add - In my opinion, you should not even bother thinking about getting mini 3-rings. I'm a little lighter than you and there just isn't any good reason for us to use them. Large Infinity's are very nice.
